For ultras I tape with Leukotape and prep the skin first with skintac. It works best before a blister but also very effective if there is a blister that you want to cover. Have you tried taping your blister on your heel? Might help.
Thanks for the tip! I’ve been using bandaids and tape on it but I just waited too long to treat it properly and now it’s just torn up. Couple days off and it will be good to go!

how are you able to keep your heart rate so low when running? I am very new to running and my heart rate has been in the 165-175bpm range even when I try to run slowly (9-11min pace). I also do most of my runs in the heat (90°+).
That's simply just being new and your body adjusting , running even at slow paces puts tremendous stress on the body especially when new, your heart rate will gradually lower as you become more "fit" and raise your VO2 max.
It simply takes time! Do lots of long slow runs. Including walking is perfectly fine! Eventually you’ll build an aerobic base and your heart rate will be much more stable!

Great video! Are you training for any race at the moment? 120 average hr for 8:30 is my goal one day! Right now, I am averaging about sub-10 for zone 2.

Make sure you’re doing plenty of easy running, the general rule of thumb is 80% easy 20% harder workouts, also be sure to focus on nutrition especially during longer workouts. This will keep you fueled up and moving well.

Good eye!! It’s a new pair of Altra Via Olympus. I’ve been running in these for over a year now and was due for a fresh pair! I love the ride on these. Very well cushioned which is optimal for me due to working on my feet all day as well as training.

you have a consistently low heart rate through your runs at different paces. Was this something that just came with time out on the road or were you training a specific way?
I've been doing heart rate training for a few years now just really focusing on keeping my heart rate under control at different paces. It definitely just takes time! Lots of very slow running even walking at first!

How are you balancing strength training gains with running in terms of training times and calories?
Due to my current work schedule I typically run and lift back to back with my run coming first. I’m averaging around 3500-4000 calories per day, around 200g protein, 120g fat, and 4-500g carbohydrates
Do you ever wear a chest heart rate monitor?
I do. I have a polar pro chest strap monitor but it’s been on the fritz lately and measures less accurately than the wrist based so I just stopped wearing it for now.
