Dust problem can't be solved with any camera, but if you don't use higher aperture than f:5.6 and you will not see it.
Nice video! Although Leica does do the repair for dead pixels on the M8 it does take a while. I sent mine to Wetzlar in August 2024 and unfortunately don't have it back yet. Hope repair will be finished in early 2025.
Crossing fingers for it to arrive soon and in the meantime happy using all of the other ones 👍😉 Thanks for great channel too! 👍

My favorite digital M. Owned 4 regular and 3 8.2 versions. All developed banding and horizontal dead pixel lines. And the batteries last around 35minutes of consistent shooting. All I have left are IR Cut filters for all leica lens sizes. I love this camera...but the sensors are past their prime now. The M8 CCD is amazing in monochrom...but the M240 should be the only old M anyone should consider if you want a "cheap" digital M. Cheers!

It doesn't influence of sensor will develop issues? About the monochrome, people say that. Can you describe what is your process and how you get best bnw results? Thanks 🙂👍
@ Time and amount of accuations certainly takes a toll. I shoot a lot of street photography daily, so your experience might be different. For monochrom, if I remember correctly, the jpeg in camera processing is where I saw the most magic with minor post processing. I even was selected for LFI Master Shot with my monochrom photos. The 1.33 crop added sharpness and character from every lens I put on it. There is great microcontrast and the jpegs have incredible tonal range. But....Use Raw and IR Cut filters for color. Cheers!

Some important additional info. Those dead pixels appear mostly in cameras which are not used for longer time, so be aware. Camera may look like new, but still have the issue. It costs about 200 EUR to fix it with Leica. Shutter replacement is a bigger one, found information that still can be done, but costs about 800 EUR and you get one from M9. All that gathered from internet, so subject to verification. Good luck and all the best!
Both are horrible 😁, but that’s to be expected given the distance. Still I’m surprised that the Q3 seems to be looking better when digitally cropped in than a physical 5x lens.
Fully agree. I would expect 5x to work better to be honest.
Best camera to date just purchase and glue a filter over well engineered lens cover, buy five of a new optimum reduced capacity non compatible bataries and don't forget separate flash. Ah and reduced resolution display is better for everything on body without viewfinder
Dust will still find its way in and it's even worse because you can't get that adhesive out without damaging the camera...

The 3-blade lens cover will not protect against dust because the blades do not close tightly and a small gap remains between the blades. I tried it out and sent it back because it was useless for its intended purpose.
Also it is important to keep it in pouch or case to minimize the issue.

A case would probably annul the size advantage, I'm gonna go with a very thin, minimalist pouch, something like this: th-cam.com/video/IkegfPBB4_Q/w-d-xo.html except smaller. Something that offers very basic protection from scratches, water splashes and dust.
@@dingdingdingdiiiiing I used to use lowepro dashpoint 10 bad. It fits snugly and no need to put it in my pocket. Still I think it’s compact and small
This does not really deal with the issue. Air enters the camera when the lens zooms out and in each time it closes. The "best" solution i have seen involves some sort of UV filter 49mm screwed to the Nisi adapter or Ricoh filter adapter, which is lept permenantly on the camera. (some even tape black tape over the microphone holes either side of the adapter)
True. I guess I was too enthusiastic 😂. Perhaps it helps a bit on the front side though.
I think the dust is able to enter what the lens opens and closes. There is a suction that happens when it goes back into the body. This lens filter and lens cap does not address that issue
I think you are right in a way, but at least partially it will cause the front presents the biggest vulnerability 🙂 Thank you.
