You just can't do a video these days without having a cat show up somewhere, and sure enough we got one in this video. Check him out, cute as a button and friendly too. Ride shotgun as I take the first ride of the season to check out the camera. Sorry in advance for the wind noise, will fix that on the next one.

    This panel can put out close to 100 watts th-cam.com/users/postUgkxOqI2yqX0XVrhR2BMJciTWrHJpG8FhJyg when positioned in the appropriate southernly direction, tilted to the optimal angle for your latitude/date, and connected to a higher capacity device than a 500. The built in kickstand angle is a fixed at 50 degrees. Up to 20% more power can be output by selecting the actual date and latitude optimal angle.The 500 will only input 3.5A maximum at 18 volts for 63 watts. Some of the excess power from the panel can be fed into a USB battery bank, charged directly from the panel while also charging a 500. This will allow you to harvest as much as 63 + 15 = 78 watts.If this panel is used to charge a larger device, such as the power station, then its full output potential can be realized.

  • @ianc3034
    @ianc3034 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi, i know this vid is many years old, the reason it's not charging is because you put your battery into series. so now you have a 24volt battery. Your solar only output around 18volts (21v based on your video). In order to for this to work, you should put your battery in parallel then it can take the power from your solar. you can get another solar panel and connect it in series so this time you can get 36 volts of solar power. but you'll need a much higher cap solar charge controller or better yet an mppt

    Max out put can be computed from panel size. What does each panel measure in size length and width? 1000 watts per SQ meter max from sun x efficiency of panel which should be .1 (old) to .21 (new deep black panels) x area of each panel = highest wattage you can expect.

    Hi. I just received my Dokio 300W panel and standard charge controller that came with. I seem to be only getting 1.2 Amps going into the system (even at full sunshine) All connections seem to be good. My battery is at 75% with no load on it.... Any thoughts on why amps are so low going into system? How many amps do you get from the 300W?

    • @picapica8846
      @picapica8846 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      300W at 12V is 25 amps. Try putting a 300W load with a battery and check how much the panels contribution is. According to comments here, expect no more than 225W.

    • @yougeo
      @yougeo 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Make sure you connect the battery to the controller first then panels. Also is battery charged enough to register on controller? What is battery type and voltage when disconnected? What are you seeing in Amps now?

    i bought 3 of these kits recently. i did rather extensive testing. i found one panel put out about 6% less than the other two. these panels are floppy and hard to lean against stuff, like we saw in this video. again, like all panels the slightest bit of shade will dramaticaly affect your current output, even the cable laying across the panel is a problem, there is a hole you can pass the cable through the back for this purpose. i built an adjustable stand for one 300 kit. i found that the max power i could get in mid march was 13.2v x 17a =220 watts using its included pwm controller perfect sun, perfect angle and about 40 degrees fahrenheit outside . i connected it to mppt and only saw it increase to 225 watts. i think the amps is too high for the little wires they included. if they would have wired it for series of say 84ocv and 66v x 4.5a =297 watts, they could have included a cheap mppt controller and let us use much longer wires, so the controller and battery could be inside house/garage/vehicle/rv and the panel could be out in the sun it would have made this a much better system. 17 amps is a problem, unless you buy 10 awg uv rated wires, which would add to the total cost. anyways due to them not being 300 watts i returned 2 of the 3 kits, plus all three kits i bought were supposed to be new and they were all used, apparently a lot of people return these kits. they are kinda useful despite every thing i have said. these would be good for emergencies, camping, also you can buy several and use all the charge controllers connected to the same battery/bank. as long as your battery/bank can handle that much current

    • @kwinzman
      @kwinzman 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your post is 1 year old. Do those panels degrade from the UV rays over time? I heard stories of flexible solar panels losing half their power in as little as 1 year.

  • @randydicotti3975
    @randydicotti3975 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    $410/300watts = $1.37 per watt...but you only got 180watts so you paid $2.28 per watt. Solar watts can be had for 75 cents per watt now. I'm afraid you did not do so well.

    • @jasonbrown467
      @jasonbrown467 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      you are correct, which is why i returned 2 of the 3 300 watt kits i bought. i found that the max power i could get in mid march was 13.2v x 17a =220 watts using its included pwm controller perfect sun, up on a stand i built, perfect angle and about 40 degrees fahrenheit outside . i connected it to mppt and only saw it increase to 225 watts. my four $80 a peice rich solar glass poly panels produced 398 watts in series on 60 foot of 16 awg wire

    • @yougeo
      @yougeo 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Who has solar watts at 75 cents per watt? All claims of below $1 a watt for new panels I have seen on Amazon turn out to be fake/impossible if you calculate the size of the panel given in descriptions claimed efficiency x 1000 watts per meter which is max power available from the sun anywhere anytime.

      the dude in the video was doing better than that with pwm. you sure your mppt is set up right? sure you got the 300 watt version? they 200 watt is common

    • @jasonbrown467
      @jasonbrown467 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      i tested my mppt finally this week. its less efficient than my pwm. i think mppt expects about 5 volts more at least than what we charge at with a 21.5 ocv panel can produce. my pwm beats by mppt by about 6%in watt hours collected everyday in exact same sun and panels

    • @jasonbrown467
      @jasonbrown467 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      i did more testing: i found that the max power i could get in mid march was 13.2v x 17a =220 watts using its included pwm controller perfect sun, up on a stand i built, perfect angle and about 40 degrees fahrenheit outside. i connected it to mppt and only saw it increase to 225 watts. for those not familiar with solar, some companies lie about the output some dont. i bought 4 "rich solar" 100 watt glass panels, wired in series over 60 foot of 16 awg wire and got a max of 398 watts out of 400 possible. just saying there are companies that dont lie, oh and those rich solar panels are $80 a piece connected to a $100 mppt controller and confirmed power through a inline watt meter, amp clamp, and hall affect sensor. 80 x 4 = 320 for panels plus $100 for controller and maybe another $40 for those long cables =$460 total. plus i built a stand for those as well.
