Taking Photos for Etsy Using Dress Form

In an attempt to get better photos of my fanny packs for my Etsy shop, I'm using a beautiful dress form that my daughter enhanced with floral and butterfly molds. This is my temporary setup. I'm thinking on how I can do a easy-to-set-up background here in the studio and will let you know when I accomplish that. Please let me know what you think about this temporary setup with the dress form. #e...

thx
Very nice video, very clear .... wish me luck! going to try and do this with a dress that is made out of lightweight, knit fabric, which would be very nice if the neck wasn't so high. so, 🫰🫰 Just for information, at the beginning of sewing the ribbing back on, you did say you were stretching the 'shirt' fabric; but because the video is so visual and clear - I could see that you meant you were stretching the 'ribbing' to match the longer shirt fabric; and you did clarify this as you got further along. Yes great video and very helpful indeed.
Thx. Wishing you best sewing experience. Just take your time.
Does the buttons have to be worn in the back? I think I’d like the buttons on the front 🙂↔️
@@debbieblakeley369 I’ve done it both ways. Like to mix things up. Do what makes you happy. It’ll be great.
Thank you so much, that was very helpful!
You are welcome. Than you.
That is very familiar. When i see a piece of fabric, on the cheap, i have to buy it, so i totally get what you are saying. I just am passionate about upcycling. I love the creative process. 🤗🤗🤗
Yep. And further confessing, still shopped, still too much stuff.
I loved all your ideas in this video. Just for fun, i put scraps together and made fabric. I made the patchwork, into a skirt , for a dress. Then i made a simple short sleeve bodice, and sewed the bodice to the skirt. That project was so much fun. A cute , simple dress. Such fun. 🤗🤗🤗
Thank you. Your project sounds so fun.
I like this video. Your directions are slow and precise. Thank you.🤗
Very helpful ❤
This video is very helpful!!! Thank you.
Thanks. I'm glad it was helpful for you.
How do you organize your scraps? Thank you.

@@pamelaleitman9305 you are very welcome. And thank you so much for the kind words.
Very helpful, thank you!!
Thx and you're welcome.
I liked your tips, but I really wanted to see the tee on you before the video ended. Perhaps you could post a photo of you wearing it in a comment?
Very helpful.
Thank you
I had the same issue. However I need to wash the new shirt first as it is itchy.
Yes, good idea. It will give you a better result all around if washed first.
If I wanted to cut off about 1/4 inch off the tshirt to make it larger could I use the same ribbing and stretch it a bit more to fit?
You could give it a try, but you might get some puckering stretching it that much. If you have a similar colored tee that you could sacrifice, you can cut bias strip from that and use as ribbing for the neck. It can be 75-80% of neck circumference.
Thank you :)
Thank you. I can't wait to find a nice man's shirt at the op shop, so I can sew the peasant top.
You're very welcome. Enjoy your new/upcoming creation.
I do this except I use elastic which offers “Give.” I’ve used this method for years!
You’re so cool!
Thank you.
Thank you. This video was extraordinarily helpful. You are so talented and an excellent teacher.
I'm so glad it was helpful. Thank you so much for your kind remarks.
Is this doable without those special foot items that you put on and don't know what a stretch stitch is??
Yes, you can use a regular foot. The stretch stitach is a small zig-zag stitch. It looks like a lightning bolt on your stitch selector. If you don't have that, use a very narrow zig-zag stitch with smaller stitch length.
Thank you so much - I'm going to give it a try😊
@@leslieanderson1774 You're welcome. Happy sewing.
Greetings from Denmark (Europe) and thank you for the very instructive TShirt video. I have a lot of too tight crewnecks to enlarge🙂I hope you are enjoying a good life in 2024 🍀🇩🇰
Great. I'm glad it was helpful to you. Happy sewing. Yes, 2024 is going well. Thanks.
Thank you Grandma ☺️ I enjoyed you showing me how to extend the original stitching of the hem to a much more comfortable neckline 👍🏼 I no longer feel like I'm chocking 😅
So glad it helped. Peace.
What are the foot letters that you are using?
Thanks for watching and for your query. I used the 1/4-inch foot, the one with the blade on the edge of the foot, to re-sew the ribbing on. I used the stitch-in-the-ditch foot, the one with the blade in the center, when I did the top stitching. If you don't have these feet, you can still do this. They just help with stitch placement.
Can you do the same to a double neck sweatshirt?
I haven't tried it on a double neck, but seems to me it would work okay.
Can you do the same with a sweatshirt?
Yes, if it has that same type crew neckline
@@upcycledisland I actually ended up loosening the neckband on my sweatshirt by washing it and then stretching it while it's still wet. It worked but it doesn't change the fact that it's just poorly designed to make it that tight to begin with.
@@ginsengroot815 glad you discovered an easy solution; I'll have to give it a try

Excellent tutorial ❤❤❤

Great video, thanks!

So you have to unknot that elastic everytime you use the bathroom?
It's a cord not elastic. Yes, I untie it each time, but it is done like guy's swim suit ties so I don't get a knot. Yes, that could be a problem, so I'm careful the way I tie.
This worked out great! Thanks!
Oh good. Thx for letting me know
But you didn’t make neck enlarge , you cut off and join . That's what I wanted you have done , but the front of my T-shirt would be as deep as 7". How will I do that? Please advice 🙏🏻
The neck is minimally enlarged by 2 seam allowances, the one cut off and the new seam taken. To enlarge more, I suggest you cut neckhole desired size and make bias tape from another t-shirt to bind it with. Happy sewing.
You've done really well. Going to try this myself
Thanks. Have fun.
Question- did you use stretch stitch for the topstitching?
I used a coverstitch machine. You can get the same effect using straight stitch with double needles on regular sewing machine though. Or you can, yes, use your stretch stitch.
Super helpful and beautifully explained. Thanks so much!
Thx. And you're very welcome.
Wow!!! That looked so easy to do! Just in time for me. I have 2 jeans and having lost weight, I needed to take in the waist of my paints. I am going to try it now. Thanks so much for this! God Bless!
Thanks so much.
Brilliant
Thank you
Beautiful top! Great sewing
Thank you
Thank you, very helpful. I watched another video but wasn't happy with her technique at all. Yours is just what I was looking for.
Thanks so much
Careful with knot in front. If you can't undo it easily , like a slip knot, and you have to use the restroom...it could be quite a predicament!

Thank you! :))
You're very welcome
How do I make the waist bigger?
I would do it at the ends where button and buttonhole are by sewing on to each end the button and buttonnhole ends from another waistband. Hope that makes sense.
Thank you for sharing some of your personal life. It is very lonely being a caregiver. My husband is 50 and has early onset Dementia. So we have good days and bad days. I feel encouraged knowing you are doing all of these things and taking care of everything else too. Since January I have had 6 strokes, like I needed something else. It's been a long time since I have sewn anything but I am going to get my machine in order and have some sewing therapy! Thank you. TS
Thanks for the kind words. My studio is my sanctuary and sewing is great therapy. Thanks for sharing your journey. Get out that machine and enjoy yourself. Peace.
You speak the truth!

what if need a bigger waist? Thanks.
You would add a gusset. Will be doing "making jeans bigger" film soon.
