Hi, really nice test! How much of a different in output/gain do you feel when playing between the sets?
@@bakarenibsheut12 I no longer have this guitar, but from what I recall it was pretty similar, but the Silos felt much more dynamic and responsive to play with. They also felt and sounded more 3D, which is odd to say but the only way I can explain 😄

These presets are awesome man! I’ve been in love with your SLO 100x preset but I love that this one is set up to go to FOH + a power amp. It would be awesome to see these types of videos for the other QC plugins or even a video where you mix and match between the different plugins. Cheers! 🍻
Thanks! Appreciate it. The power amp and cab is a recent thing for me which I really like. I have a Zilla cab custom ordered and will definitely do a video on that and my Seymour Duncan Powerstage too once it arrives in the next few weeks. I for sure plan to do more preset videos though and will cover more plugins, plus mix and match 👌 Can't wait for Neural to release more... "Soon".

So you got about 2600 worth of pedals and you're going to cheap out 4 or 5 dollars and use generic Velcro. Are you feeling okay dude. That is a very amateur move.
@@maxammo6282 It is 3M velcro so actually pretty strong. But as I mentioned in the vid eventually when back on the live scene I will likely swap out with 3M dual lock, which is definitely the more pro route I agree. Thanks for watching.
Neat! Also built mine yesterday with the dc 7 and crux…. I just really rely completely on QC, one Mission Exp Pedal nothing else….. does the flyrig job brilliantly….

Nice video. It would be cool if you did this again but with combinations like one speaker for the left side and the other for the right side. I like to do that in my own mixes, so I sound like 2 different guitar players.

Idk I’ve gigged with my QC and NEVER have I had the power cable be an issue. I’m not really sure why so many people are kicking their cables or are so against taping lines down on stage if they know they are going to be running around. Idk either the cable being so thin it should be an even less issue tripping over it than say the Headrush or helix nema cable
@@Techco1 Maybe you are less clumsy than I am 😅 But tugging the cioks cable the same amount as the QC would disconnect the original cable, whereas wouldn't on the Cioks. Something I didn't mention in the video is also some grounding issues on the QC when using headphones also with the original power supply. But this is all just very specific cases and for most people the stock power supply is completely fit for purpose, I agree.
Yea.... this is nothing new...
Helpful comment. 🙄
Should have bought a Fractal! I own both and refuse to use the QC live. Fractal all day!
I had the freqout but sold it before I got the qc. Should get a new one.. anyway, I have an Empress Zoia and a fuzzface on my board. Can really recommend both if you use fuzz, but number one option for anyone I'd recommend is the Empress Zoia. It can do everything the QC can't. Think from big modulated delays and reverbs to guitar synth stuff to sampling, microlooping chase blissy sounds to even (synth) sequencers, drum machines and midi/keyboard synth. I have mine in the stereo fxloop. Btw, there is really no reason to put a buffer in front of the QC. The QC is one big buffer.
I have heard great things about the Zoia. I used to have the Ecosystem and their tape delay and they make great stuff. I'll have to watch some vids on the Zoia as always was confused by what it did!
Since the QC is not very good at capturing Fuzz I would go with that or a time bassed effect for the empty slot
cool setup , just wondering is the expression pedal on the far left/left foot always been how you use it ? you could theoretically have the polytune mini above the freqout , and the expression pedal on the right side below that extra space is useful should you want to add a wireless receiver or other pedals on the board i've also got the freQout, and a TC Flashback2, as i really like having an extra delay in front of everything that i can use for certain parts and quickly add self oscillation (less programming and more spontaneously accesible) in any case whatever works best for you, it's always a personal thing after all
@@paulbradshawguitar I used to use wah pedals on the right side but more recently I noticed that the left side works better for live and not just at home (for me), hence the left side on this setup I am with you on having quick access to that delay pedal for oscillations etc. I guess some guitarists don't need that, but those who like interacting with dials while playing prefer the real pedals, as using a touchscreen is a little odd 😄 .
@@adamwakeling yeah it's one of those things where, you can program it and it certainly works, but nothing like twisting dials and doing it that way, haptic feedback for the win as it were
Great video and very cool set up. I’ve also got the QC connected to a DC7 and Crux, the best option 👍🏻
I saw your comment before the edit, and to confirm that the yellow tip cable with the Crux is meant for Line 6 devices and has a slightly longer tip, so although will work I think best to use the black cable provided for the QC.
@@adamwakeling thanks for answering. I thought it was a stupid question. I’m now trying to change it and use the correct cable.
Hi, you might have explained it and I missed the information but I don't understand the interest of putting a tuner in front of the QC since the unit has a tuner. Could you explain your view ?
@@karimbechoux3417 Yep, I briefly mentioned in the video but essentially it is just a much faster response when pressing it. On the QC it requires a long press to activate which feels very slow, particularly mid song if you need to very quickly adjust. You can set up the quad cortex for instant press but I prefer having the button as default and using the tap function for tap tempo on it. Additionally, I like having a buffered signal coming into the QC from my guitar, particularly as I am also going through the Freqout and possibly other pedals in the future before hitting the QC. (Although in reality the latter is a very minimal difference, and probably more of me thinking in my old way of analogue pedal board design 😅)
@@adamwakeling Sorry I missed the info then D: Thanks for your answer, mate !
I would remove the tuner pedal, move the FreqOut to the top row sideways, add the ernie ball vp tuner jr on the right side for a dedicated volume pedal plus tuner going into the QC, and I would add an xotic wah or other wah on the right side right next to it, freeing up the expression pedal on the left to be assigned to other parameters on the QC for easier access. great video!
Sounds like that would be a great set up 👌

@@AviationPunk No doubt 😎
Another neat build , the Freqout works well with the QC🤟🏽 For me I’d put something weird in the spare slot, I love weird reverbs so would have OBNE Dark Star or something like that
@@drcockles Thanks 🙏 The Freqout is so much fun. I am still figuring out the best way to use it. I was actually looking at the Dark Star recently. OBNE has some really great stuff, although never actually blight any of their stuff yet.
@ new Dark Star Stereo out now, I love OBNE!
That sounds amazing :)
My own studio board has now grown to be pretty large but I always loved these fairly minimal boards. Nice and simple but gets you where you need to be. Good stuff
When laying out the pedalboard, it's worth sticking in 1/4" plugs of the right size/style so you can make sure the space between pedals is sufficient and that the jacks don''t stick out too far when in the bag. I think I'd have run the PolyTune power under the pedal rather than around the top. You'd moved it in from the end and there was no velcro under the middle so it might have fitted fine in there.
@@makingmusiconline2309 Absolutely. This was a short term solution, although it turned out reasonably ok in the end. Custom sizing each new set up for sure is more optimal!
Wasn’t expecting Burzum War. Lol. Instant subscribe.

If you wanted more control over the Protein, a mini single loop pedal. If you ever have to turn it off with one stomp instead of two. The Blue side came off really harsh on the high end through my audio but sounded brilliant when adding the Green side. Nice video. Sleek board, really nice.
Yes I agree, on playback the blue side was a little harsh running into the digital amp - probably needed the tone knob lowered a bit on it. The green and blue combo is definitely fun to play with! Thanks for watching

wow the video quality is insane, i genuinely thought you had at least 100k.
just wondering what are the name of the stick on things you're using for cable management? i've been using cable tie and small stick on pads, which works a treat, but i kind like the look of this huge fan of the Cioks SOL , got three of them on different boards 😄
@@paulbradshawguitar Try searching for 'silicone cable tidy clips'. That should get you the results showing in Amazon etc. Yes, the SOL is really great I can tell already. Although I just bought a DC7 and Cruz for my bigger board to power my Quad Cortex and other pedals I will run with it. Looking forward to seeing how I get on with the DC7 too. Will probably record a video for that build too!
@@adamwakeling thanks 🙏 i'll give that a go, i have a pedaltrain novo 18 where it'd help, i'm using the SOL and some daisy chain connectors for a few pedals so that it all works (usually drive/tuner style pedals and leaving the high mA pedals on their own) the DC7 is a beast, i thought I might have to pick one of those up, but the daisy chaining worked out fine luckily

Hello Adam. I cannot find a way to have one scene with the amp on clean channel and other scene with the amp on crunch. If i change one it changes on all scenes. What am i doing wrong? Can you help me?
@@Luis_Cunha_Ventura If you are using my downloaded preset that should all be taken care of. However if you are setting up your own, make sure that you have the crunch and normal settings active in scene mode, ie tap and hold that specific toggle on the amp block to make it part of scene mode. It sounds like you have not tapped and held that specific toggle to make it unique within each scene.
Hi Adam. Thanks a lot for your help.
good sound, bravo
Question…. I have the Soldano X and there is a ton of bass in the low mid frequency. I’m wondering what your input and output settings are?
@@robl130 there is a fair bid of low end on the soldano. I really like it for home playing. For live, I would typically add a high pass filter on global EQ, enough to keep things balanced and sit nicely with the bass guitar.
@ I’ll give that a try. I love the tone but when I play anything heavy that requires palm mutes it’s very woofy
Are you finding bigger audio gaps than normal when changing parameters with the new plugin amp blocks in scenes? Doesn’t seem to be the case with some of the less complex amp blocks. Channel switching is a no go for sure, there’s even an issue if you copy the block more than once in various settings.
@@darrentaylor2752 yep, it seems it is the nature of the two channel amp and switching between modes of normal and crunch etc. The only downside of the plugin amp block. I tried using he same block multiple times within different cores but didn't make a difference. Hopefully this can be improved in a future patch, as I do like instant changes in scene mode.
Glad it’s not just me, nice work on the tones though.
Obiusvly for use it we have to buy the soldano plugin right?
@@riccardozanni2025 yes, correct . Requires a licence linked to your ilok account.
Hi ! Nice video, and quite a nice tone :D Don't you have any sound cutting problem when switiching from OD/Normal channel and Crunch/Clean channel as well ? I tried to make it with one amp and I ended up using 2 rows as there were cuts when I switched from scenes to scenes (only when changing channels) Do you have any solutions ? Thanks !
@@nicolasmasciocchi9743 Yes, unfortunately this is the case with the SLO amp in the QC. That lag appears when changing modes, even with scenes. I did not manage to remove that, even with multiple amps on different rows. Hopefully Neural DSP update that in the future!
Thanks for the breakdown. As someone still trying to wrap my head around how the Quad Cortex works, videos like this really help.
I wouldn't keep the transpose on all the time, I know the pitch shift colors your sound set at zero, I'm not sure if the transpose does or not, but why keep it on when not used.
