I just finished watching the video side by side with my own scope, man it is the best video on TH-cam for an intro to this device. I am a newby and it is my first osci, so I have no experience, your walkthrough helped me so much, thank you for the video, I just subscribed
Didn't know capacitors like these could blow up
Those fumes must be terrible
What is the output voltage at the GDT side of driver? Im using FGY75N60SMD igbts with 20V max GE voltage, so I'm not sure if my GDT with 15:15:15:15:15 ratio for full bridge setup is good..
for the UD2.7 driver the output is the same as the incomming powersupply which is 24VDC. if the GDT ratio is 1:1 then the output of the GDT will be around +-24V. That under no load tho and under load it does decrease. While it is over your igbts rated voltage it still should be fine tho do add tvs diode on the gate and maybe one or 2 less turns on the secondary of GDT. It is such a high voltage on the output bc its needed to turn igbts on faster and fully and necesery for igbt bricks or igbts with high gate charge.
Where's the portal?
High pressure or low pressure?
High pressure
I have electroboom flashbacks because he got scared of the coil, this was the song he first played on it.
Why is all the good scary electrical stuff on the unknown side of youtube?
That's just how it be
I calibrate the device first then the probes
When its turned on it the first thing it does is calubration. First turn on its full cal and every next time you turn it on it does quick cal
Wow, wish my half bridge didn't blow up :(
Solid work
Thank you!
such a cool way to go, grab this metal pole and have a free bird solo get through you
What a time to be alive... Cool engineering project man I respect it, better put it on your resume too
real shit
This pains me so much to listen to but I still respect it
Why so?
@@latenightprojects Just the rhythms and notes that aren't right but I still like the video so whatever
@thebeaverkidd2970 I see, I will try to improve that. Tho it may just be bc I'm limited to 2 notes at a time with the DRSSTC. Am working on a new interupter which should sound better.
@@latenightprojects Hey it’s chillin bc it’s still cool to watch regardless.
what interupteur are you using to make music that nice ?
DIY one tesla sd interupter based interupter
I noticed that time and date is not retained at all, not even a minute, after a shutdown. Maybe not used so much but that is really bad either way as I see it and I use it time to time.
You can set it to sync to a NPT time server everytime you turn it on and then in periodic intervals. You do need to connect it to WiFi or lan for that but it works well
@@latenightprojects Ok cool didn't knew, but still you shouldn't have to do that on a scope so that was a real surprise.
@@dtiydr yea true although afaik basically all the scopes are like that. Atleast all the ones I've used
@@latenightprojects I have a few little older handheld ones and they are not like that, had and old Tektronics and that was not like that either. Guess they have just ignored that in in modern scopes which is messed up since it would be so extremely easy for them to fix.
@dtiydr for handheld ones it makes sense as the battery is always in it and there's no psu that's getting switched off. Should have clarified that all the other scopes I've used that even had a clock option were modern digital scopes.
this scope is not bad and affordable.
Yes, it is a very good deal for the price. Very usefull tool. So glad i didnt cheap out when buying my first scope.
I can't find these industiral optic fiber IFD95t and IFE97 (for the interruptor) conectors. Could you help me, where to get them from?
I got them from DigiKey. You can also get the HFBR-2412 and HFBR-1414. Or a cheap alternative is the toslink transmiters and receivers.
now I put everything on board, but before i plugged it in, i tested the 24VDC between + and - and it beeps and shows 0.3 ohms. I don't know if that's a problem...
@edicizmak4229 hmmm that is a problem. You have a short somewhere. Second though is that it's only short for a short while untill the caps charge but 0.3ohm is even too low for that. So very likely that u have a short
I see you have "upgraded" to 200Mhz 🙂 Did mine too. I wish it had a Z-output.
Is there a tutorial to follow to upgrade to 200Mhz? I am considering to buy this scope as well

lovely, thank you!
Hi there.. Man! I would be grateful if you could help by uploading the THT Gerber / Eagle version of the driver. I've bought Chinese versions & none are working. Grateful if you could do so! Thanks on behalf of a great admirer & great fan of yours.
Sure, lmk what exactly do you want me to send you. Might be better if you email me.
@@latenightprojects never mind dude.. I've already got what I needed from Alexandre Creuz. Though you have replied to me way very late, thanks anyway dude.
IM USING THE SAME DRIVER AND HAVE NO COMPLAINTS AT ALL. BE CAREFUL WITH THE NAILS IN THE WOOD THEY CAN START A FIRE IF GET HIT FOR TOO LONG. THAT COIL CAME OUT PRETTY NICE AND OUTPUT IS VERY NICE AND CLEAR.
Yea ik abt the arcs striking nails and possibly starting fires. After noticing that they did i ran a ground wire down that wall to minimise that risk. And yes the driver board is good.
Ohh I see if you ovefclocked it by it’s tripping then the connect stayed connected when it tripend
Thanks so much brother sstc tutorials are very appreciated
Glad you like them!
Спасибо!
I've just received that UD 2.9 version from Aliexpress but I've not tested it yet! I don't have a scope! I need to buy one. But your THT version looks great. I wanted to build mine too like you but seeing that Aliexpress already have them with SMD components, I prefer to buy them. Show us another video how you test your UD 2.7 with your new scope & how you tune your OCD, that will be great. Also, if you don't mind, do attach your THT gerber version like that it might help some out there who wants to go ahead & do the same built as yours. I wouldn't mind myself doing it as I honestly love your purple PCB for your UD 2.7. Grateful if you could upload it . Thanks
Yea sure ill do a video testing the driver. I have also designed my own smd version of the UD2.9 driver with poor-mans pulse skip so am waiting for parts and then will test it in my DRSSTC.
Oh my God! There you go with your DRSSTC. Dude, I thought I would be in advanced with my full bridge DRSSTC but it seems that you took the lead ahead of us, I mean seeing that Labcoatz was taking so long to make his full bridge drsstc, I'll do mine quickly but you went ahead of us! Your Tesla coil looks amazing, it's awesome dude. That's the way to go instead of wasting time on sstc, half bridge or whatever. My best coil was a half bridge DRSSTC which worked really well & it's still alive till date. My parts which I've ordered are being delayed & that's why I'm late to construct mine. Man! How did you tune that OCD? Of course, an oscilloscope is a "MUST HAVE". Anyway, congrats for that awesome DRSSTC. Mind blowing as it was not very long ago when several among us were on the same boat doing SSTC's. We were all dreaming about reaching that full bridge DRSSTC & there you are finally. Awesome, just awesome dude. Keep going.
Thanks! It took a while to build and solve problems along the way. Still not completely problem free but works super well for a first DRSSTC. Had to up the power a lot after changing the cap bank which in turn is causing some heating issues so ill have to find a way to solve those. The OCD tunning wasnt too hard, i first aproximatly calculated the peak primary current and set the ocd close to it. Currently its around 1kA. Its twice what i originally designed everything for lol. But yea i must say without a scope id be having a lot of dead igbt bricks.
Hope 2 CU soon with a new video on how to scope your drsstc b4 powering it.
This is a nice scope. I've had mine for over a year and really like it.
Yeah its a very nice scope with many features.
Wow
Can I not use foam? I plan to use paper and glue to create a surface for the top load then cover with aluminum tape :D
With foam you can get an even surface. Might be hard to do that with just paper and glue. Sounds like it would be pretty fragile and pain in the ass to add tape
wtf did I just watch
yes
What voltage and capacitance is this?
Then whole bank is rated up to 800VDC but in the shown clip it was charged to just 565VDC. Capacitance is 880uF
If you have an isolation trafo, you could put the primary and secondary in series to get 460VAC or 650VDC. You can also chain a bunch of other trafos in series with that to get basically whatever voltage you want.
Is it just me or are you uploading more videos recently? Also, heh, rocket go *_foomp_*
Yea i uploaded some short vids i filmed while my friend was visiting me. And i have few long form vids i still need to edit

Lol yea. Tho my workshop is in a house and my neighbors are like 50 or so meters away

Yea it is the same desk. Tho the black stuff was impressive to fully remove because it had burned pretty deep into the table top
@@latenightprojects Oh wow

Yes, my old workbench top lol
@@latenightprojects Great. What voltage is this and how much current does it pull?
