solo piano arrangement I made of this beautiful piece. The idea was to stay faithful to the original but play as if the voice part was written for a male instead or soprano. Piano Concerto no.1 - "METAMORPHOSIS" - original (full, 2024)
This is my first full concerto for piano. The title refers to the original goal where each movement would get progressively more complex harmonically and structurally. I - 0:11 cadenza - 6:54 II - 11:17 III - 20:57 cadenza - 27:06-33:36 notes: 1st mov: very gaudy intro to the concerto which contains themes that are used throughout the rest of the piece. Piano concerto no.1 "Metamorphosis" (mov. 3/3) - orig. work
Third and final movement of my concerto called Metamorphosis. The idea behind the title was that each movement would get progressively more complex harmonically. Much of the promised harmonic development can be found in the cadenza, but this movement is also the most modern of the three in terms of orchestration and general style. cadenza: 6:10-12:37 notes: After nearly twelve months of writing...

I played this one very sloppy. I might reupload if I get access to a grand. I had a few title ideas for this sketch, but couldn't pick one so I kept it untitled. The ideas were "Faeries," "Birds," or "Descent into madness." "Chaos" was an option too. A very nice dream, one of my more personal sketches. I liked to play this much faster, but I slowed it down for the sake of tempo reference. It is harder to keep a pulse when the tempo is slow. Piano concerto no.1 "Metamorphosis" (mov. 2/3) - orig. work
Second movement of my concerto (honestly my favorite one). Originally called 'Metamorphosis,' it was supposed to have a structure where each movement becomes more atonal than the last. I may scrap this title idea. notes: tonal developments from the 1st mvt are already seen here with heavy chromaticism and liberal structure. This mvt is filled with references to my favorite composers like Rachma...

First movement of my concerto. Originally called 'Metamorphosis,' it was supposed to have a structure where each movement becomes more atonal than the last. I may scrap this idea. cadenza - 6:45 notes: A very gaudy, bravura introduction to the concerto as a whole, contains themes that are referenced throughout the rest of the piece. First performance of the "original" (mostly unarranged) piece that I've heard that makes sense. Sounds inspired by Nyiregihazi, especially with the repeat, am I correct?
@@RachManJohn thanks! Nyiregyahzi's recording is legendary, I'm heavily influenced by his playing.
Phenomenal use of pedal and voicing! Reminds me of Igor Zhukov's Scriabin recordings. You've come so far. 🤩
Thank you! I have certain people to thank for progress 😉
I cannot believe what im hearing..... the fact that something like this is being composed in 2024....
@@aeroslothy not sure if this is a good thing but thank you anyway
@@majrn1000it’s amazing
More Neo-romantic mush. When will people like you get out of your 1903 bubble, and realize that no one with any degree of respect or pedigree writes music like this? The effort you put in to this piece is commendable, and there was some moments that were genuinely beautiful. However, I hope that after this piece, you can escape from your nostalgic fantasies, and try writing something that has anything unique to say texturally and emotionally. You have potential, now do something about it!
To be honest I think this piece is much more basic than what I usually make (or even listen to). Even so, I don't write music for attention or "respect and pedigree." I don't care for modernity or uniqueness if I like what I'm putting out. I love Penderecki and Xenakis as much as Rachmaninoff and Feinberg. There's enough progressive composers out there, I will make music I want to make. I will have to be commissioned to make music of your satisfaction and not mine. I do appreciate your comment.
@@majrn1000 I totally respect that. Art is subjective, ignore my stupid comment. Enjoy making music, it’s fun!
Peaceful
THIS 👏 DESERVES 👏 A 👏 LIVE 👏 PERFORMANCE
Thank you!!
Really nice colours. The brass introduction almost reminds me of the beginning of Bruch’s scottish fantasy
Thank you for listening!
Great job bro!
wow this is one of the compositions I actually like
The piano makes great texture during the music, I love it!
Incredible piece, love the harmonic evolution in each movement. Especially the second movement, wow - all those chromatic melodies that emerge and get passed around different instruments, overlaid over the piano chords. The cross-instrument phrasing marks are so cute, not sure how that would look in their parts, but it's a cool concept. Also really love the cadenzas in the outer movements!
@@symphwind Thank you so much!! ❤️❤️
i wish I could hear the piano better

Rachmaninoff
full concerto: th-cam.com/video/9IxO8qGVNU8/w-d-xo.html
Instantly captivated by the opening, what a way to open the finale! It reminds me of Rachmaninoff but still has the originality that every composer seeks (I imagine). Anyway, very interesting musical language and piece, congrats!
Thank you so much!!
Instantly recognized Bortkiewicz 1 vibes at the beginning😜
One of my favorites of all time!
@@majrn1000 I love it, too! Only that the first subject in the first movement of that piece feels as if Bortkiewicz had cut it off too abruptly. It should really goes on longer!
woah
Did you have the third movement of Rachmaninov 2 in your mind for the intro?
No but I guess it was subconscious, now that you mention 😅
funny how you make this arrangement not long after i discovered the piece lol, i actually really like this arrangement and the playing is very good
Thanks!
This is amazing!
Thank you!
Really well structured and that is very difficult for something this big so really my congratulation❤ its an impressive work. I would though love (and take it as a criticism but more of a personal struggle i am experiencing with my music too) to see more modern aspect. I am just know you can really do great stuff you just need a step further. Keep up the hard work❤ , and as a composer myself in love with late romantisim and impressionism, i can completely understand.
Actually, the original drafts of the third movement had a LOT of straight up atonal moments. There was also extended techniques and very complicated harmonies. I removed all of that because it was too advanced compared to the first movements. The result is very watered down music that I think is more romantic era than contemporary.
This sounds amazing!
Thank you!
Which software do you use? As a fellow composer, I believe this is a very nice composition!

Thank you 😍❤️
J'adore !
Thank you! 😍
Bravo 🎉
Thank you so much! ❤️❤️
splendid!
I love this!! For real, this orchestra work you did is genius! Could be a symphony movement itself!
Thank you so much!
