Amazon's Kindle design peaked at the OG Kindle Oasis. That thing is absurdly light and thin, has buttons, and feels premium with its metal construction. Plus, they designed it with a magnetic cover that contained an additional battery that slid into the gap behind the ultra-thin screen. This meant having a cover added virtually no bulk since it attached so nicely and seamlessly to the back, and if you wanted to you could EASILY pop the cover off to drop the weight down, or pop it on to extend battery life. It really felt like it had no true tradeoffs, it was essentially a perfect design. The only thing wrong with it, was the Micro-USB port but that was normal at the time. The fact that the newer Oasis got larger and ditched the battery cover was a step backward, and the fact that they never had an Oasis with USB-C is just a travesty.

Regarding price, it's insane to me that the Booz Go 7 is slightly cheaper than the Kindle. While by all accounts the screen isn't quite as good (weird, since underneath all these color readers are using the same screens), it has physical buttons, runs Android (and therefore supports the Kindle app), and even has a tilt sensor that the Kindle for some inconceivable reason is missing. If not for the fact that I'm already on the fence about the color screen on the Colorsoft, I would be super tempted to jump ship to Boox.

3:23 this is a weird thing, I listen to Audible books all the time. But the idea of screwing around with Bluetooth to do so via my Kindle is a non-starter for some reason. If the Kindle had a built-in speaker, I would be tempted to listen to the audio as I read to enhance the experience - I know many people that really enjoy doing thing. But I don't want to read on my phone, and I don't want to connect headphones to my Kindle. I'm not sure why, particularly at such a premium price, they don't include something that literally every other handheld computing device has: Speakers. Phones even have waterproof speakers, so no arguments about that are going to justify this.

I just ordered the Kobo Libra Colour... and it has absolutely nothing to do with the color feature, not that it's not a nice addition, but it didn't factor at all into my reasons for why after a couple of months of research I picked this and not a Kindle (Don't have it yet, it will arrive tomorrow). I think price, ergonomics, the physical page turning buttons, ability to connect to Dropbox/Google Drive, no Amazon shenanigans as another booktuber put it, the ability to get books from a lot of places, the books saving directly onto the device and not in the cloud were the provider of the books can decide to take it away even if I paid for it (look back at Amazon shenanigans) I have recently been using Kindle Unlimited, which I enjoy well enough, but I know there are a lot of ways to purchase, or borrow books that I will also enjoy. P.S.: Have always read on my phone, tried my tablet but its too heavy, and battery life sucks, and have come to the conclusion that the screen of both those devices keeps me awake at night not to mention they both provide too many distractions, I end up on youtube half the time. Physical books are great at home, but I spend months at sea on merchant ships, and taking more than a book or two with me just doesn't work (I read every day, so 2 books will possibly last me 1 week if I stretch it out, but I work for 120 days at the time) so ebooks are pretty much the only way unless I read the books people leave behind on the ships... mainly James Patterson thrillers, which I don't like. Love thrillers, don't like James Patterson.

The great thing about kobo is that you can Bluetooth a page turner to it without it touching the screen. Lots of us love using an 8bitdo micro gamepad for this purpose.

I never got an iPhone when I was a teen, basically cause they were far too expensive in my country and importing stuff wasn't as easy. So it was always a mini dream for me. Now at 28, lots of iPod videos started showing up on my YT timeline and I thought "I can afford it now, should I?" and I just went ahead and bought it. 80 GB iPod Classic 6th gen. I kinda love it. Back in the day, I used to spend hours organising my music library; changing file names, downloading cover arts and whatnot. It was a fun weird hobby of mine then and I got to do it again today. Seeing my perfectly organised library on my own iPod is way more fun and satisfying than I thought it would be. All in all, I'm so happy to finally have one haha :D

I bought a basic Kindle a year ago and have been using it almost every day since, and I still don't see a reason to upgrade to a different model.

You should definitely try Structured! It’s been my favorite productivity app since 2022 it’s much better in visualizing time blocking much better than google calendar in my opinion but you can still sink calendars and reminders!

It would behoove those to remember that the B&W versions have far-superior PPI. At least twice that of the colour models. Why bother when you can get a full-colour tablet that has full high-quality colour for the same price?

I bought one as soon as they came out when the price was 252. I exchanged it not only because of the yellow band but because of ghosting issues with leftover words from previous pages showing through. They sent me a new one that they assured me was in perfect condition. The ghosting issue was addressed but the yellow band was not. It's really not worth the new price. I have had the Kindle 3g, the discontinued Kindle Voyage, the kindle paper white, and the 8 and 10 inch fire tablets. Colorsoft is the worst one they have ever come out with.

With the Libra fo to the font settings hit advanced and see if making the text heavier of that will make the contrasts better.
