My father and his friends used to play this square dance on saturday nights. They are all gone i wish they had been recorded. I miss the innocent times they were in playing

Thanks so much! I've been looking for a rendition of this dance in this way for so long-- I grew up dancing to Charlie Benner's calls in PA and want to teach them to my music students. Now to find this record... May just need to play my accordion. :)

Interesting to see. Thankyou. In Australia I call a slightly simpler version and vary the beat to add variety. Look on you tube if interested...

I still call this dance in Australia at our "Bush Hoedown" dances. The dance is slightly different (see you tube "Australian Bush Hoedown Square Dance: Red River Valley" if interested). I also vary the tune, but it's based on Red River Valley! ...A good easy dance to teach and do!!

We used to do a dance very similar to this when I was at school in Edinburgh in the late 90s as part of Scottish Country Dancing ... the words were slightly different but the tune is the same. Thanks for posting! Haven't heard this glorious tune in years!
