The process of replicating a Victorian ceiling rose in-situ using lime plaster. From fragments of the original we were able to make the moulds we needed to replicate this large Victorian ceiling rose the way it would have been originally created. Running in-situ with lime plaster and plaster of Paris.
How to form a traditional “quirk” corner detail in lime plaster.
มุมมอง 1.4K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
This is the traditional corner detail to many period properties in the uk. The corner is formed with a wooden staff bead which is then plastered in. This forms a strong corner preventing damage to the soft lime plaster. The “quirk” detail is a small chamfer either side of the wooden bead which is both aesthetically pleasing but also hides the inevitable shrink crack of plaster against wood with...
How do you attach? Does it stick on using just lime plaster?
It really is an art form.
So cool!
Fantastic work
No such thing as natural cement, they would of used lime not quick drying cement!
There absolutely is such a thing. Give it a google.
Great craftsmanship!
That’s a cool job 👍🏻
Magnifique finitions ,le gabarit est la clé du résultat ajouté à un savoir faire 👏👏👏👏👏
Be cracked to high heaven in 6 months.
Incredible work!
Looks fantastic!
Some tutorials from basic to advanced would be massively appreciated , youtube is inundated with how to / learn to plaster videos . Ive never come across any how to fibrous plaster videos . Thanks 👌🏻
The plan is to do some long form tutorials on here 👍
@thenaturalplastercompany8762 Amazing , it be nice to know what tools and plaster you need , where to buy them 😀. Come to think of it what are those little straight edge things called that you use to shape a cornice in situ ?
Massively underrated. 👏🏽👏🏽
This is amazing. Thx for the upload. Might try my hand on something similar in the future 🎉
Just wow…stunning
Incredible. Can you make me a French wife please
Looks awesome for now but that wood to cement contact is just gonna separate again after a couple seasons, I'd be awful curious why someone would do this to a wood window frame? *I watched it again, not sure now.. is that exterior on a window or what is that?
I’m not sure what you mean. The timber you see are the temporary running rules that are used when we ran the straight lengths of the moulding. These get removed and the wall top coat rendered up to the new mouldings. Hope that makes sense.
Take a look at our other video of how these are run. Might make sense then. 👍
Rendering? 2 to 1 ratio?
Now this is great to watch! I’ve been plastering in various guises for over 20 years and love something new - not that this is new in any way! You’ve got some serious skills there my man 👌
Tres bien
Will crack
What a dying skill this is nowadays
Until the EMP that wipes out all the means of energy production.
Beautiful work x
True craftsmanship
Thank you 🙌
Amazing!
I did something similar with some plaster to a basic baseboard once. it took forever and actually came out quite decent. I thought I was a genius..... then I met you 🤯
Great job 👏
Do u let the straight runs fully cure before doing the mitres??
Yes, but it’s very rapid setting cement so you don’t have to wait long.
Next level plastering ❤
فنااااااان
You're a wizard Harry
Beautifully done❤
Niiiiccce
Wow!
Proper that great job 👏
How are corners made?
I’ll show you 👍
Where did you learn all this?
Not that is smart what a skill ❤
love to see this. I've been plastering 45 years. guy I started with, had all the tools to do this, and all the small tools for running cornice in situ, he started with a plasterer called basil bone, (40s/50s )they had a lime pit in the yard, did lots of work in banks and cinemas. he was a mine of info, and if I had a new trowel, usually tyzak at the time, he liked to plaster with a new trowel. someone got him one from the states, disson? he thought that was the best, before we heard of marshalltown
Hi mate What do pre mix bags are you using in this video? Thanks
This is Cornerstone insulating render. 👍
Bit of a non-mitre at the end mate
Miters line up, but profile dont...good luck trying to stop in that 🤦
Didn't line up at the end 😂
Looks like k rend Any reason for this? Listed? Seems hard work
Boards and lime plaster create a vapour open cavity so the damp walls can dry out without damaging internal finish. Yes also listed.
That was an excellent tutorial for me I've fitted loads of different types of cornice down the years and always make mistakes cutting the angles Carpenter by trade
Thanks mate glad it was helpful 👍
That wasn't pro cuts didn't line up.. You need the correct mitre tool for these..
Excellent work. Lovely to see skilful work like that.
