very cool, very practical and stylish. 😊

Have a Happy New Year.
thank you and to you too 🙂
Jarl, although a year has passed since this video, I hope that your injuries were short-Lived! A fireside campsite certainly beats a night in the Emergency Room. Take care, and may God bless you & yours.
I‘m good again, thanks. This year hasn‘t been a highlight healthwise, that’s for sure.🥴 Need a good amount of outdoor time to catch up next year…finally starting with an overnighter next week. I have some gear to test out. Might Film it too.
A hike in the rain can be very enjoyable & meaningful! That is very scenic country. Is that a state park, national park, orwildlife preserve? I like the pavilions for rest stops along the way! Which state? Thanks for sharing, and again, have a blessed Christmas!
It‘s a commercially forrested patch of woodland.
Nice mod! Have you fieldtested it & how long does it take to boil a cup of water
Hi, Yes it has been fieldtested for years. I have not measured it but it gets the Job done more windstable, so I assume it is quicker. I will measure the time next time and post it here.
@@JarlHauke Thanks for your reply. I just subscribed & might be your oldest subscriber at age 83. I look forward to enjoying your videos! Have a very blessed Christmas & New Year!
Thanks, happy holidays as well. 👍

Good presentation of this bag Jarl. I just picked one up. It's a perfect day pack. I'm going to use it as a detachable auxiliary bag and attach it to an LC1 frame set. Hope yours is still going strong. Cheers. 🇦🇺🤘
You seem like nice person and did a good job of presenting this bag, thank you a lot! :)
Great video sir. I'm british but spent quite a few years in your great country in the military. Danke und genießen.
👍Yeah, the Swedes sure know how to build a cook set. I now also have the slightly smaller kit. I‘ll review it in the future.

Get well soon! First things first, health is the basis for all things to do. Can relate to your issue, have been unable to live my normal live for some time. Getting better, but still most annoying.
Thanks a lot. Unfortunatly you only start appreciating your health when you get issues with it (true at least for me). But hanging in there.😉

I got my Neoair topo luxe XL on a Wednesday and used it for the 1st time tat the weekend. It was worth every penny off the £200 I paid for it. I've used a few different mats in my time. But I only had two up until I bought this amazing item. A HI-GEAR Composure LXM 7.5 Single Sleeping Mat and a Trekology UL80 Mat . Both good and hard to beat for the money. But the Neoair topo luxe XL pad is just beyond the next level. So now I own 3 matts and 2 of them I will probably never use again unless I have too.. It is like having a single mattress that packs down to nothing in comparison to many others. My tent is a COSMITTO Backpacking Tent and the Neoair topo luxe XL fills half the tent corner to corner and side to side with no gaps on the 3 sides it touches. You get to relax and sleep instead of hanging on and fighting with pillows and slip sliding around in sleeping bags on uneven surfaces. To a certain degrees the Neoair topo luxe XL pad will level out better into a flat position un uneven surfaces. It did with me this weekend as the prior weekend in the exact same spot I used the Trekology UL80 Mat and I was having to fight the unevenness trying to find the sweet spot. Then having to lay there rigid till i fell asleep. But i still ended up slipping of the mat in my sleep regardless. Not with the Neoair topo luxe XL . I was basically level and able to sleep in a decent sized bed in any position i liked in total comfort. It would be F'ing amazing to get another one and just have the inside of my tent as one big corner to corner mattress. Putting them inside a nice thick double quilt cover I reckon will be the finishing touch and will sleep like a baby in my deluxe wall to wall comfort tent. I always say the C in Camping, stands for Comfort ,Money is to buy comfort. £200 is not cheap. But trust me one night on this mat and you will say " Yes worth every penny "
Bro love the song and the lighting cool
The Bushbox looks quite good
I like your video. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for the vid - first to comment - I was looking for a comparison on the stats for the different bags and you gave it, so thanks alot and congrats on the vid 👍👍
Try turning the can as you open it. Don't move the opener. Other than moving to cut the can. No more jagged cuts.
Not sure why you thought you need to use two hands on the can opener. But you only need put one on the can and one on the handle. It takes a bit of getting used to but it is a fast can opener. I use mine on every can. It's the only one I need.
Thanks for the advice. I‘ll practice. Thank goodness nowadays cans often times have pull-tops. In the past I always have struggled with these kind of openers. 😉
Piss jug idea is genius
If ever you had to leave your sleeping bag in the middle of the night while wintercamping to take a leak you REALLY appreciate this thing 😉
Hey Jarl I suggest you watch a video on how to properly use the can opener otherwise thanks for the Video I enjoyed watching
Yeah, I did struggle a bit there. 😂
@@JarlHauke it’s a small thing and you did get the can open
Very elaborate , but you could have the same effect by flipping the stove upside down and putting the tablet underneath
Yeah, but won‘t the sides still be open? Or do you only mean the wind protection effect? The indentation for the fuel tablet will also stick out instead of beeing indented inward. But yeah, I guess you could do that in an emergency
I highly recommend these little tablets that turn into full wash clothes/paper towels when wet. They're amazing. Great video brother!
Thanks. Yeah, I always have these tablets at hand to clean my cookware. They are really handy.👍

Good review of the pack. Much appreciated!! Just bought one also. I do short overnight hikes only. It should suit me well. Thanks!!
Nice video! Mardingtop backpacks have a good price-performance ratio! I own 2 backpacks from Mardingtop with 75 liters and 28 liters and I am very happy with them! I use the 28 liter backpack for day tours and the 75 liter backpack for longer tours in the warm season. However, for the cold season I use a Tasmanian Tiger TT Mil OPS Pack 80+24 backpack, as you simply have more equipment with you in the cold season and the Mardingtop with 75 liters is simply too small for me and the carrying frame of the TT Mil OPS Pack 80 +24 for weights beyond 25 kg is simply better than the Mardingtop with 75 liters. Every now and then I also use a Jack Wolfskin backpack Highland Trail, Black with 36 liters, but mostly only for hiking or for 1-3 day trips.
i can see why this wasnt anywhere at all any place on the interweb.... smFh
Happy New year 🙂
Thank u jarl for your valuable info...on the drilling machine...your simple explanation is very good...pls don't stop making yt videos 👍
Feel great on back w pads
My only concern is how does it feel on your back when fully packed? Do the back pads and internal frame do its work to minimize discomfort when fully loaded?
Yeah that kind of depends....like I said in the review I don't think a pack of that size makes sence for extended hikes (it is way too big). I only use it for a couple of miles to our overnight spot (let's say 2-3 miles). It is fine and comfortable enough for that task for me. I would guess the level of discomfort will rise the longe you have the thing on your back (but that kinda goes for every large pack). For shorter distances I would say it works fine...how it compares to other packs of that size on longer distances ...I don't know, but I would then probably choose a better quality pack. (Savotta or Tasmanian Tiger...but they are also more on the expensive side) No definitive answer but I hope you get what I mean...😉
@@JarlHauke I'm from Finland and Savotta is Finnish. Yes it's good quality but my god it's expensive! With the same price of Savotta you can buy 5 of these mardingtop backpacks! Anyway, back to the question. I'm new to hiking stuff and I have tried a few different hiking backpacks. I tried the cheap hiking backpacks of small and large sizes without any internal frames and as you can guess when fully loaded they are not comfortable at all, for short distances they're OK. I have owned a few military backpacks and I love how durable they are thanks to their material, very organized with multiple pockets and with multiple uses with the MOLLE system as this mardingtop backpack. On top of that they look cool with natural colours for camouflage purposes.
Exactly. That is why I got the Mardingtop. I think it is ok for shorter distances. If you plan to go on longer hikes I would firstly try and go for a smaller pack, which will be lighter in the first place (that will also improve comfort). This of course means you have to cut down in the gear you take along. Now, since Finland is colder than what er get here in Germany I don‘t know what gear can be dropped. Try and find out from locals who hike im your region. Secondly the brand of the pack: Mardingtop is a bit on the cheap side. You can try how it works for you and then maybe upgrade. Between Mardingtop and Savotta there are a few brands in the middle. Snugpak for instance or Helicon Tex.
@@JarlHauke Yes, especially in winter the gear weight increases because of warmer and bigger sleeping bag and tent etc. I found cool backpack for sale 120 euro called "MILRAB Alpha 90L" I haven't bought it but I think by quality it looks better than Mardingtop. But it's more heavier by 1,5kg and bigger by 15L than Mardingtop, which could be slightly overkill for me. What do you think?
I don‘t know the brand you alternatively found, but I think my decision would be the cheaper Mardingtop if I would only use it only for shorter distances but the other brand which seems a better quality if I would use it more frequently and for longer hikes. Don‘t know….but I use my Mardingtop for 2-3 miles about every two months. That would (for me) be the threshold. If I were to use a pack more often or for longer distances I would look for better quality. Hope that helps
I would make the lips in the upward side, with the lid sinking in the cup. Thanks
Great review. Thank you for taking the time mate.
I have seen several videos that state the buckles keep slipping. Has that been the case for you with this pack? This has been a very good showing for this pack.
I have heard that as well. So far I have not experienced that, but I just use this pack for short distances of about 1-2 miles.
The best Video ever!👍

I'm not too good the can opener as well...as you can see in the video 😉
Very lovely, nice commercial.
After watching your product review, I decided to purchase this backpack. thank you!
I hope you enjoy the real thing as much as I do👍. I‘m still happy with the pack
Great perspective on the tent, friend. How have you found it to be since you had this first look at it? Cheers.
It is still going strong and I still love it. What I love about it is it’s big vestibule with tons of space to be able to cook inside. Also this tent is freestanding, which is great (except the vestibule which has to be staked out) The only downside is you can not set this tent up without the rainfly (since the poles go through sleeves in the rainfly)…this means when its hot outside you can only have the tent open on one side (the front, when you don’t use the vestibule) Still this is a minor issue, it is still my go-to tent for autumn, winter and spring
@@JarlHauke very nice. Actually, I had noticed that about the vestibule as well. I've heard that most people from your country tend to prefer tents that pitch inner and outer together, as the weather can be so challenge. Is that an accurate belief?
I‘m not involved very much with the hiking community but from what I‘ve seen here having inner and outer tent connected and pitching them together is rather an exception and not the norm. Most tents set up inner and then the fly on top. My other tents are build this way also. Weatherwise I think it is pretty moderate here (depends what you‘re used to, I guess). We have a healthy mix of rain and sunshine but I never have had to set up tent in heavy rain. If it rains too much you can take shelter and wait it out. Rarely heavy rain lasts langer than half an hour.
where did you get the knock off pads from?
The brand is called etisso. I got them off amazon. If this brand is not available to you just try out any other mosquito pad brand…most of them work the same way by vaporizing the prallethrin. The ones from etisso coincidentally are just almost exactly half the size that the originals have.
Thanks for sharing your extensive real-world use of this, and nice tip with those cheaper pads.
that was our rescue during the day in the forest 👍
When you pack your stuffs in, why don't you use front pocket and side pocket and top pocket? Although YKK is very strong zipper, too much tension is no good. I bought it anyway...
I do use them😉 Water in the sidepockets and food & cookset in the front…Abort 20 minutes Intro the video. I wish you all the best for your pack…mine has not let me down yet
Regarding the pack... 1. do the shoulder straps loosen up on the trail to where you need to readjust and tighten them often, if yes have you found a fix or work around ? This seems like a simple hardware fix for Mardingtop in future iterations, to bad they neglected this, I see this complaint alot in the comments...and another question... 2.How good is the shoulder tension straps stitching ? I know the tension straps are only sewn into the polyester shell and aren't structurally integrated and anchored within the pack itself, which is questionable... Which means stitching in this area is extra paramount... I see in the comments here on your video that you say the zippers are what you lay as the component that has the greatest potential for failure, but I thought they used YKK zippers ? I don't know... I'm on the fence between this or the LA Police Gear 72 Hour Atlas pack... I know the quilty is better there but the Atlas lacks adjustable shoulder height velcro system, plus has no shoulder tension straps... Both important very going the duration with large loads... I forgot to say... My intended application is bug out... 🤷♂️😆 If you made it this far... Good job and thanks ! 😆😉 Any insight would be much appreciated, God bless brother
Yeah I made through the whole comment (I don't get that many comments, so I can afford to reply to every one...and I enjoy interacting with the communitry as well) To your questions... One, the shoulder straps. I have seen this critique in other videos as well. For myself I can say I have had no issue wíth them, but as I said in the video I only use this pack for short distances (1-2 miles) every few weeks. Even though the load is quite heavy then I have had no issue with the straps themselves (and neither with the load bearing straps connecting the shoulder straps with the backpack on the top). two, the stitching. Here also I have had no issues (just checked them right now), but again you are right and this area is the most vulnerable...with the amount of usage I have with this pack the stitching is not stressed yet. The zippers. Yes they are YKK and of good quality and I have had no issues with them so far. I just meant to say having zippers on the top flap is very unusual and (as with the inportance of the stitching) is the "potential" weak spot of the pack. As to giving advices on what pack to use, of course I can't tell you if this pack is for you, but maybe my thoughts on the issue will still help you in your decision. I think with this pack it all comes down to the distance you plan on using it for. So if you want a bug-out-and-stay-out-longer-and-cover-a-longer-distance pack I would probably personally go to a different pack but if you want a bug-out-a-short-distance-and-return-as-soon-as-possible pack I think this pack will work fine. All in all personally I am still very pleased with the pack (for my appliance...short distance...every few weeks....very good capacity). I hope this answer has some value to you.
He disfrutado mucho tu vídeo. Mientras te escribía me he convencido.
There is no difinitve proof that aluminium is unsfafe when used for cook pots and pans. However the earlier Teflon (pe 2015) IS unsfe if it is chipped. The inside of the pan should be protected with a piece of plastic, or better still with Trangia's own chopping board/strainer which is available as an accessory.
Yeah, you're right aluminium is "alleged" to be risky...I am still careful and of course you are also right some non-stick are also supposed to be dangerous when chipped (that's why PFAS usage will probably to be restrickted in the EU ). I think I will next give duossal a try as Thereal111 suggested.
