Work Day at the St. Mary Infirmary - November 2024
Residents of the St. Mary Infirmary will be a lot more comfortable this festive season and beyond. As a part of Local Government and Community Month 2024, A work day was organized for the Infirmary. Staff of the Ministry, the StMary Parish Council, individuals, groups and students of various schools within the Parish volunteered their time and effort to carrying out rehabilitative work on the facility. #LocalGovAtWork

After losing her home to fire two years ago, Marsha Davis of Seaforth, St. Thomas, now has a new home, thanks to the Ministry of Local Government and Community Development’s Indigent Housing Programme. Under the Indigent Housing programme two families in Westmoreland received their newly constructed and fully furnished homes. The houses were handed over on Friday October 11, 2024 by Hon. Desmond McKenzie. The Indigent Housing Programme was designed to address the housing difficulties faced by the poor and most vulnerable.

I have said to this PM where is the veranda to these houses. Jamaica is in the tropics. Secondly the high steps for old people to climb. As one opens the door one is greated by a petty kitchen. The door ways needs to be wider. Would these PM and others live in these houses?
