What if you are doing someone else’s nails?
Hey Vicky, the same principles apply doing someone else's nails. if you're working right to left across the nail, your efile should be in forward mode. If you're working left to right across the nail, you should be in reverse mode. If you're working cuticle to free edge, it's going to depend if you're left or right handed. If you're using your right hand, you should be in forward. If you're using your left hand, you should be in reverse. You'll soon know if you're working in the wrong mode as your efile will want to slip and you'll feel like you're fighting it. If you're unsure, start with a gentle bit (such as a cuticle bit) on a low speed. Hope that helps 💜💜
@ that’s very helpful thank you so much x
this was so helpful thank you!!
Hi Zoe. I'm new to your tutorial. I took a used plastic Scotch tape dispenser, removed the tape and replaced it with 3 roles of striping tape (extremely narrow, very narrow and narrow). I no longer have a problem finding the ends. My fingers don't touch the tape either. I use my tweezers to pull it, then place it down the dispenser, before cutting a strip off using my scissors. I hope this helps you!
Great idea, thanks Mary💜💜
You're very welcome.@@NailsbyZoeH
Thank you so much for this information! After weeks of looking at videos about this you're the only one that tells simple how it works!
Thank you for this explanation.
Did you buy special e file bit for lefties in order for it to work in reverse mode?
I believe you can buy special bits for lefties, but you don't need to. I use the same drill bits whether I'm using my left or right hand and never had an issue.
I have yet to find anyone who explains this so clearly. Thank you. Have a fantastic day
I’ve been wondering this for the longest and was afraid to ask. I’m left-handed so I always confused.
Hi Zoe, I hope you are well. I haven't been able to do gel nails for some time for health reasons (my nails became too fragile) anyway I miss my gel nails. I am contemplating doing polygel overlay then it's just infills and I could do polish or gel over the polygel. My question is can I leave polygel on nails for a considerable long time only doing infills to help give strength to my nails without the regular removal that you have with gel 🙏🏻 🥰 oh and could you recommend a good dust extractor 👍🏻
Hi Caroline, I'm so sorry to hear you've not been well 😢 As your nails are fragile, and you're happy to do infills, that gives you a few options. Polygel is definitely one of them, you could also use a builder gel (either soak-off or hard gel). If your nails are really bendy and flexible, then a rubber base gel would also be an option. All of them will allow you to put normal polish or gel polish on top, which can be removed and the base product infilled. I have dabbled with Polygel, but really only used gel products long-term. I have infilled for years without soaking off and have experienced no ill effects. As long as you're careful doing your infills and don't overfile, it should be fine. Using a nude coloured base product rather than clear can make this easier, altho it doesn't allow you to see your nail underneath. Unless you use a translucent colour. If you use a file-off product (polygel or hard gel) and you're finding it lifting at the free edge, then maybe try a soak-off product that you can infill (soak-off builder gel or rubber base gel). Soak-off products are more flexible, and can therefore be more suitable for very bendy, flexible nails. If you put normal nails polish over the top, best to use acetone-free nail polish remover to remove it. My dust collector is a no-name brand from ebay. I've looked at my purchase history and it's literally named "salon nail art vacuum fan cleaner suction dust collector filter manicure machine". The unit itself doesn't have a brand on it either, which isn't helpful sorry. Mine is 4 years old now, so no doubt has been updated in that time. I've seen some good reviews of the Melody Susie dust collector, so that might be a good option. Hope you feel better soon xx
@NailsbyZoeH Hi Zoe, thank you so much for so much informative information, you are so kind. I think I will give polygel a go, they say it's easy to file, I know I couldn't use an efile so I can take my time and use hand files. I have been looking at many dust collectors and many are out my budget, however I am keen on one like yours no brand, 120 watt brushless, what I like is as well as filter there is a wee washable bag below that collects what filter doesn't and I assume you'll know what I'm talking about but I'm going to get the thin throw away filter sheets that you place over the top of the machine, minimising what goes through machine filter. Thanks for your time and kindness. Hope you are well, sending best of wishes. Take care 🥰
No worries Caroline, sounds like you've got it all sorted. 😄 You have plenty of time to work with Polygel as it doesn't run anywhere, so I'm sure you'll enjoy using it. Take care, hope you feel better soon xx
@@NailsbyZoeH lol we'll see. Thank you, take care 🥰
I really like rubber base coat after a 1 or 2 week grow out of hard gel and I want to change the color. After removing the gel polish with my nail drill, I use the rubber base coat for a “mini fill”. It makes the cuticle area look so much better😊
What's the use of Blooming gel 😊
Im having the opposite issue, the bands are just SLIGHTLY larger than the bit they came with. Is there some quick fix to keep them on?
Thank you! Exactly what I was looking for!
Thank you. Very informative.
What is cleanser ?
Cleanser is a multi-purpose product. It's used to remove oil, cleanse and dehydrate the nail plate, as well as remove the inhibition layer (sticky layer) of gel polish.
Hand sanitizer or alcohol😊
that was so helpful to me!! Iv been looking for an explanation like this for so long , after injuring myself multiple times while filing. now it all makes sense. thank you so much!!
You're very welcome, glad it helped 💜💜
Thank you so much! I've been trying to find a clear video explaining this so I can safely use a e-file at home!
You're very welcome, glad it helped 💜 💜
I always wanted to start doing my nails at home but I was so scared of the e-file, your video was so helpful. I'm no longer scared. Thank you!
You're very welcome, I'm so happy it helped 💜💜
Great explanation. Thank you!

Hi Marie, oh excellent, I'm so pleased you found it helpful 😀💜💜
What is the nail color you’re wearing here? I’ve been looking for that exact nude tone for years and haven’t nailed it yet.
Hi Jillian, that one is Luminary Nail Systems in the colour Peace 💜💜
Fantastic video. Thank you so much for your time, much appreciated. Now I know why my nails keep breaking.
You're very welcome Arguella, I'm glad you found it helpful 💜💜
Ah this is soo helpful!! Thank you so much!!
You're very welcome Jilliane, I'm glad you found it helpful 💜💜
Anything involving organising is a win to me ☺️ Oooh the glitter pot is gorgeous! I’ve been curious to see how the Born Pretty cat eye gels are.. and they are beautiful
Yes me too, especially when the organiser is just so cute! 😊 This one is lovely, I was very impressed with it. I might have to get some more of the colours, can't have this one being lonely. 🤣 💜💜
Good morning ☺️💐😊 can’t wait to see what you got! Hehehe my wife is the cook.. gives me more time to play with the pretties 😂
Morning Lovely, I couldn't help myself. I love all parcels, but nail mail is definitely top of the list. 😄 💜💜
Great video thank you so much. Kindly asking if you can do a video specifically on how to use the e-file to shape natural nails ( rounded nail tips not square). I’m new to doing my nails with an e-file.
Hi Arguella, I'm glad you found the video helpful. I don't use my efile to shape my nails, I always do that with a hand file, I find it more precise for shaping. I use a 180 hand file, then smooth over the free edge with a buffer. This smooths the free edge and removes any bits of nail debris that resulted from the filing. I'm happy to do a video on that if you like? 😊 💜💜
Thank you so much for your response. Good info. Yes please to your kind offer for a shaping nail video.
Hi Arguella, all done and uploaded. Apologies for the delay, I'd just done my nails so had to wait for them to grow out a bit. I hope you find the video helpful. 💜💜
I also gotta learn how to apply my gel polish too 🙂 people don't realize that there much much more to doing nails the right way. So much to learn. Love you vids 🙂
Yes that's true, there are lots of subtle little things that make a big difference to the end result, or how long your gel polish lasts. It's also about working out what works best for you, which can take time. There are always new products and techniques to try too. It's a fun journey 😊 💜💜
Wow! Your only one I have found that I understand the best. First video I needed to watch and look up was witch way my drill need to be going when I'm using my e file I just got today very first one and trin to learn out to do my own nails. Anyways looked up on Google witch way my drill needs to be going when I'm drilling my own nails and your video popped up and so I watched it witch I'll prolly be watching that video over and over again till I can do it myself without having to watch it. Also thank you so much. 🙂❤️
No Nickie, you're very welcome, I'm so pleased you found it helpful 😊 It takes a while to get used to it but once you do I'm sure you'll love it. E-files are a great time saver, I love mine. Thanks for watching 💜💜
Beautiful Zoe ❤
Thanks Caroline 💜💜 xx
What do you use to wipe off the sticky layer?
Hi, I use NSI Cleanse or 100% isopropyl alcohol 💜💜
@@NailsbyZoeH thanks :) can you wipe with anything? Or just rub it on with your finger? Cotton pads seem to leave furries
Hi Renata 😊 I wouldn't use your finger as you'll be exposing your skin to the gel inhibition layer and that can lead to allergies for some people. I agree with you re the furries left behind by cotton balls and pads, it's so annoying. I use the NSI Nail Wipes, as they're pre cut to a good size and genuinely lint free. If I run out, I use kitchen towel / paper towel until I get to restock. That is also lint free (at least it is here, not sure about where you are). It's a cheap option worth a try 😊 Otherwise Amazon would have some, just make sure you search for "lint free" 😊 💜💜
Awesome video, thank you!!! What if you are working on someone else's hands?
You're welcome, glad you found it helpful 😊 The same principles apply: if you're working right to left across the nail, your efile should be in forward mode. If you're working left to right across the nail, you should be in reverse mode. If you're working cuticle to free edge, it's going to depend if you're left or right handed. Beautiful as always Zoe 🥰
Thank you Caroline, I'm glad you like them. I'm not sure I needed to keep redoing the stamping, but I was happy with how they eventually turned out. 😂I hope you are keeping well. 💜💜
@NailsbyZoeH you probably didn't but you such a perfectionist (nothing wrong with that) and a great teacher. Iam doing ok and hope you are too Zoe 🥰 x
All good here thank you 😊 xx
Thank you for the video it came out so pretty 😍❤🥰
Thanks Zelda, glad you like them 💜💜
I see your from Australia. Im in the US. That could be why i never seen that kind of acetone. 😂
Yep, that and I decant mine into an old olive oil bottle. The acetone comes in a 1litre bottle with a really wide opening, so having a bottle pourer is really helpful 💜💜
Where did you get the acetone from? I never seen that before. 🎉
Hi Zelda, I actually get my acetone from Bunnings, our local hardware and everything else store. My husband tells me it's the equivalent of Harbor Freight 😄
Such a gorgeous design Zoe <3 I am a lunatic when it comes to my nails lol
Thanks Erin, it's just a cute plate. Yes me too, I can't help myself, always fiddling with something or other 😀💜💜
Turned out nice...I'm also picky when it comes to stamping..lol
Thanks Kim, glad it's not just me 😃 Thanks for watching 💜💜
CND and gelish soak off so much quicker
It did take a while. I guess it's all a trade off, I get no lifting or chipping with it, it definitely lasts well. 😊
Thank you for doing this soak off for me. It does take forever to remove for sure, I struggled first time I used born pretty and decided not to use it anymore, however, I would again, just file it off like you, the next time Thanks again
Hi Kim, you're very welcome, glad you found it helpful. Yes I agree, it's worth using as it applies beautifully and the colours are lovely, it's probably just best to file off most of the colour at least. 💜💜
Is the direction also true if your nailtips are facing away from you (hand out flat). Would it be left hand forward/right hand reverse?
Hi Carolyn, hmm that's an interesting one. I don't file my nails that way, so I'm not 100% sure, but I would think not, as your efile is travelling in the opposite direction than in the video. If you're filing with your hand flat and your free edge facing away from your body, I would think you'd need to be in reverse for your left hand and forward for your right. Best to try a gentle bit (like a cuticle bit) on a low speed until you're sure. You'll soon know as the bit will want to slip if it's going the wrong way. I think it would be harder to control the efile filing that way and it would be easier for the bit to slip. Have you tried filing with your hand facing you? I think it would give you better control. Thanks for watching 💜💜
So helpful for a newbie like me. Thank you!
I'm so glad you found it helpful Elizabeth, thanks for watching 💜💜
Thank you for showing us your goodies. I like the vintage one also ❤
Ooh excellent, thanks Zelda, it's definitely going to be first pick 😊 💜💜
Try the vintage one
Will do, thanks Kim 💜💜
Hi Zoe, looking forward to the next one to see how they soak off..Thank you
I was excited when I saw this video thumbnail but I was a bit sad when I saw it was from nsi, the items I received were not what I was expecting and I emailed them asking if I could return it for a refund and all they said was “you can’t return it” asked if I could get refunded again and had to wait about 20 days for a reply. Currently waiting on the outcome of the dispute with my bank, it’s a shame because I had really high hopes for this business seeming as it’s an Australian brand and their products seem so high quality but I’m scared to take the gamble with them again unfortunately.
Hi Anne, oh no, that's a shame, I'm really surprised to hear that. I've always had great customer service from them. Did you try the online chat? They've always come back to me quickly when I've contacted them that way. I hope you get it sorted. Xx
Hi Zoe, hope you are well. Your nails are beautiful as always, I am curious to know how the born pretty gels will soak off too, thank you 👍🏻
Hello lovely, I am well thank you, hope you are too. Thank you, I'm glad you like them. Ooh excellent, I'll be sure to let you know 😘 xx
@Nails by Zoe aw thank you Zoe. That would be great, I look forward to that, take care 🥰 xx
Have you tried soaking them off yet? If so , how easy does it come off?
Hi Kim, I haven't soaked these off as I use an efile to remove my manis, but I'm happy to use these in my next design and then soak them off so I can let you know. Thanks for watching, Zöe 💜💜
