It's okay, I felt the same way when I learned this

Have you selected the singer in OpenUtau? You click the drop down menu that says "singer", then select the type of singer "classic" (utau) is an example of the different singer types, and then click the voice you want. If you've done all that and are having this problem, then I don't know how to fix it. What voice banks have you installed?

@@jaidthestar2816 My singer seems to only beep a well. I didn't try much except for looking around since I don't want to mess anything up. What I did was press the plus, go to select singer, classic and then select Gekiyaku--the only singer I have installed so far. I've changed the lyrics to different vowels but the beeping persists. Do you think you could help point me in the right direction?

Thank you! As for the accent you're hearing I wasn't as careful with my recording as normal (since it's just a test bank), so my natural accent likely came out a bit more than usual.

does the voicebank have both a "readme" file and an oto in it? OpenUTAU doesn't register voicebanks without those files.

They took away the phonemizer that made Teto English work (Delta CVVC), so unfortunately you have to either try to find it, or manually put in the phonemes. I don't understand why they did this, as even though Teto has a SynthV, her UTAU version is still popular, and usable.

There is no one website, unlike Vocaloid or SynthV, so you just have to look up the singer you want. For example "Yokune Ruko voicebank dl" is an example of a phrase you could use. Hope this helped! :)

It is empty to start. You can add whatever voice bank you want to it, and that's what this tutorial is for, teaching people how to do it. The only reason I already had one in is because I put it there a while before making the tutorial. Sorry for the confusion there.

There is no one place to get an UTAU voicebank. You can just look up "[any UTAU you want] voicebank dl". Hope this helped! :D

You simply tab over to the other note and type in a +, this goes for all languages with multiple syllables in a word that might change pronunciation when typed seperately, it does exactly what the - in Vocaloid does, and automatically extends the notes correctly according to the phonemizer. You're welcome! Is the problem you described something that's currently happening, or did it get solved somewhere along the way? If it is currently happening, does it pop up an error message? Another question for if it's currently happening; are you using a diffsinger (basically UTAU AI compatible with OpenUTAU) voicebank? If it's not a diffsinger, I'm not sure how to help, but if it is a diffsinger intsal this: github.com/xunmengshe/OpenUtau just install it exactly where you already have OpenUTAU, and it will instal everything you need for most diffsingers (some still might not work), but it does have all the same files OpenUTAU already has, just tell it to skip the dupes and you can keep the settings you already set. Sorry for this being long winded, but I wanted to cover my bases

There are two reason that might be the case. One: Your trying to use it to have an English UTAU sing Japanese, which is not what it's for, it's for have a Japanese UTAU sing English. The second one happens when a Romaji aliased Japanese Voice Bank is selected, as the phonimizer only considers Hiragana aliases. Do you know if the voice bank you're using is Romaji (English letters) or Hiragana (Japanese characters)?

I'm trying to use it to make my Japanese voicebank sing english. The voicebank is Hiragana Aliased and it worked before but now it doesn't@@jaidthestar2816

Click "select a singer", and on the menu that pops up it should have a button that says "classic" (since you don't have a singer set up it will be the only option), clicking that pops up another list of available singers, and then just click the singer you want. Hope this helps! :D Also, your English is really good! I wouldn't have known it wasn't your first language if you didn't say. :)

ahh... that makes sense. I don't know how to do that, but I think I found where I can do that.

@@jaidthestar2816 open the singers menu and go to edit subbanks, then select add color, select all the pitches and enter the suffix of your chosen voice color (for example ↑ for teto's sakebi vb), click set and save, now you can alternate between different voicebanks but you have to make sure the voicebanks are in the same singer folder

@@manzana1314 in OpenUTAU go to the "Tools" submenu, click on "singers...", this will pull up a new window where you can edit the voice banks. Next you pick the voice you want to edit, (if you have one in a track it goes to that one automatically, if not it goes to the first alphabetically), then click the "edit subbanks" button, and it opens another window which seems to be where you set voice colors, but how to actually set up the voice colors is something that I haven't figured out yet. If you figure it out, please feel free to share! :D

Tutorial 3 at 3:25 is where I explain how to change lyrics: th-cam.com/video/Yqm_pPF3WYo/w-d-xo.html Another way to input lyrics is by clicking "edit lyrics" with all the notes you want to change highlighted, and it will update, just be sure to put spaces between the words or syllables when doing this, and for languages like english you can put in the full word, then a space and a + for it to carry the syllable. As for playing, you can just hit the space bar, or click the triangle button in the window that shows all the parts! I hope this helps! :D

It is because CD Rusya is incompatible with the DiffSinger Phonimizer. From what I can tell from investigating is that her voicebank seems to be a single languagd Japanese bank (Péché and Kiss), and from hee wiki she seems to have russian. Just use the EN to JA phonimizer and she should work. That said there might be something I'm missing, but seemingly the only way to get her to English is to use EN to JA

@@jaidthestar2816 As it turns out, I was just being an idiot and not messing with the phonemes to get the sound I was looking for. Thanks for responding though! Any tips for getting good Russian vocals as well? The base Russian phonemizers don't work all that well, and whenever I try to fix things, it sounds like a mess. If you don't have any, that's fine, just curious.

@@beyondinception5636 You figured it out! That's great! :D I've never used a Russian UTAU before, so I don't have any tips beyond practice tuning and adjusting the flags, which are tips for any language.

XSAMPA is a phonetic alphabet designed to be as typable as possible compared to the IPA (international phonetic alphabet) which uses a lot of Unicode characters. For example, the pronunciation of the word "human" would be ["Cjum@n] in X-SAMPA but [ˈçjumən] in the IPA. I don't know what it might be doing in an Utau-esque app though, it is mainly used for speech assessment or discussions in linguistics-related spaces

@@evrenisprettyuniversal thanks for explaining XSAMPA! :D As fore why it's in an UTAU type program, it's likely that someone made a voicebank using it, as one of the English phonimizers in OpenUTAU is XSAMPA. Why someone would do that? I don't know.

@@manzana1314 I do know, in OpenUTAU there is a phonimizer for it, which is what I used for Ruko in this, and the growls will be covered in my next tutorial, as it is apart of tuning. I am working on the tutorial, and should be out this evening! :D
