You could try to remove the cache from your browser it sounds to me you still have the old cache stored up in your browser Hope this helps 😁 Also double check if both devices are on the same network and you can ping the server via the IP provided by tailscale

@@JeffComputerService Update: Fixed. The solution was that I needed to allow remote connections to the server in the settings. Below is where the setting is in case anyone else has the issue: Networking -> Remote Access Settings -> Allow remote connections to this server (white list) Thanks for your help!

I am able to generate the files but I cant figure out how to add them to the config

@@jaxbom1 try using it on the browser at least for me it works better than the app using the VPN

@@theaquaking4020 double check in TrueNAS Scale if you made a User to log in that also has access to the SMB Share that could be the issue don't use the user that you have already on Windows sometimes this can cause confusion at least for me I always try to make the username same as for Windows to avoid that Hope this helps with your issue Thanks for watching 😁😁

@@JeffComputerService It worked at home last night. When I plugged it in at remote site today, it did not seem to be automatically logging into tailscale. Any ideas why not ? Maybe I should just reinstall because I did lots of proxmox updates too - when I figured out how to disable the enterprise stuff.

@LarryKapp1 you could try to remove the Tailscale from the terminal in Proxmox and install it again instead of starting from scratch use (apt remove [package_name] )

@@JeffComputerService I figured out the issue. I had it all set up at home and that writes in the ip into a file in etc/network . I forget the exact name of file now but all I had to do was change the IP and gateway IP to what the new network used at the remote location and then it logged on right away.

@@manuelgiasson-leger3693 did you downloaded the app for your phone and added the phone to the list of your Tailscale devices? Only devices added to the Tailscale (tailnet) Can view the Server just add your phone to it and you should be able to view it and also include the port number 192.x.x.x:8096 Hope this helps 😁

did you find an solution for this? i can acces jellyfin on the server on some devices in my tailscale network but not from other devices

You don't necessarily need a high end PC to do the process depending on your needs if you want your family member to be able to have access to the server they need the device that they want to connect connected to the tailscale app if it's for the TV the app is also available for TV at least for me using tailscale to access the movies I don't have any difficulty with buffering the movies or waiting to load not all my movies are 4k and works pretty well For you family member to connect give them access to your tailscale account or invite them and give them permission so they are included on your tailnet (tailscale) Another thing to note is you can also make the process on a virtual machine instead of a NAS depending on what other apps you want to install but if all that process is too difficult to do then making a true NASA Scale might be the best option for you for flexibility Hope this helps 😁

This is my setup Proxmox with OpnSense; installed Tailscale with Advertise Router being my Caddy VLAN. The Caddy VLAN provides access to services such as Jellyfin within my home, as I don’t permit devices to access services using a IP address. After setting up TS on OpnSense and then in my IPhone everything works; ie I’m able to access my services even though the Advertise Router is only the Caddy setup / VLAN. I did an Invite User and my friend was able to setup Tailscale and I can even see him Connected on my admin console. My services such as Plex aren’t accessible.

@@cyrilpinto418 I never done it that way. I would mostly just use my own account and add the device not invite the user. I'm not sure if there is a restriction by doing it like that you could try to ping the IP, the tailscale provided you. In this case, your friend to see if there is a reply. If there is, then you should be able to connect with the iP provider by tailscale followed by the port number Hope this helps

Since TS is integrated into OpnSense via a Security Key; I’m not going to provide them my account details as that would provide them too much access into my server. I’ll keep trying else will look into another solution. Funny thing is we’re able to setup Wireguard and he’s able to access Plex / Jellyfin; however not through Tailscale. I needed Tailscale since they need to access Jellyfin on their TV; and the only way this is possible was to consider installing TS on their Apple TV (we’re testing the iPhone for now with no luck).

@@Meyus_ your friend needs to connect to the same tailnet (tailscale)account so his Device has access to the same network you both want to play and only you and your friend will have access and anyone else that you add to that account Hope this helps 😁

@@JeffComputerService oh yea I finally found out. I was putting my iPhone ip address instead of the server ip. Thanks mate.

Well you can also set it up on a physical machine but the main reason for the virtual machine is that, that machine alone is only focus is the jellyfin server so the good thing about that is all the resources on the virtual machine will work 100% just for jellyfin this makes it good so you don't experience lagging on the server when it loads your movies or shows

same here, the app keeps on "deploying" state allows me to access for a while and then nothing

Sometimes clearing the Cache of the browser helps in case your server doesn't load

@JeffComputerService , I have a question: How can I access Jellyfin using Tailscale if I'm using the TrueNAS Scale IP?

@@SonYoru_YT you need to put the IP that was given to your device not the local IP from your Router for the VPN to work

See if you can find it via your local IP on your PC with the port number 8096 is the default for jellyfin and then after that try with the IP provided by tailscale and with the port number example (0.0.0.0:8096) How this helps

@@Architec7 yes exactly the computer or device that you want to use they need to be connected to tailscale app installed on your PC

@@aronpalfi7386 the Devices that you connected to the tailnet (Tailscale) are they able to log in And also did you check the service is running on TrueNAS sometimes there might be a error log indicating what wrong You can also try to Ping the IP if you get a reply then you should be able to connect to it Hope this helps your issue

​@@JeffComputerService When I tried to ping it, I got this result: 3 packets transmitted, 0 received, 100% packet loss, time 2048ms The server shows that the service works without any problems. But thank you for your quick reply.
