Hi Chris, Very enjoyable and informative video. I actually have this interface. I only just got it and so far it's been an excellent experience. You mentioned in the video a way to utilise the reverb built into the interface by using the loopback process. I was just wondering if you'd mind doing a mini video on how to actually go about that? Thank you so much.

You know, the more I learn, the more astounded I am by how amazing it is to learn. Before watching this video, the signal-to-noise ratio concept really eluded me. 1:31 in and holy shit, the way everything clicks in, the way I finally understand what signal-to-noise ratio means, it feels like a mental fog that finally clears up. Learning is a beautiful thing. And some people want to take that away?
Zen Quadro or RME babyface pro fs for best probability ?
Hi bro. What do you know about the Depusheng brand?
Hey can anyone tell whether the zen quadro works seamlessly in windows? I am hearing many negatives based on its driver compatibility…Don’t know whether its true or not…
Biased reviews honestly, there are other review on TH-cam that outlined the con .....
RME eats most of it for breakfast and it is not mentioned. Why?
10/10 review. Thank you!!!
I had a couple of Antelope products and loved their sound, great conversion and clocking. But I had to sell them, because they constantly had driver and software issues. You never know what's next, when you start the computer with Antelope gear. It's just not possible to use it for everyday studio work. When you have clients sitting next to you and the next bug comes up, it makes you look like an idiot. On RME now and never looked back.
I don't know this unit, but I use the very first version Zen Studio (the red one with the handle) and it sounds great (for all my intents and purposes) and has never let me down (well, I'm at my third power supply, which seems to be a weak point). I'm now running it on a fairly new Mac Studio, and the driver software for that holds. So now this is almost 11 Years since I have the unit and I'm still as happy as ever. Maybe just luck, but then some...
Nice presentation! Regarding the SM7B, please note that it was the favorite mic for tracking Michael Jackson, according to the goat engineer Bruce Swedien.
Thanks :) and yeah… the SM7b is a great microphone by 1980 standards. There’s been a couple advancements since then though.
...and still no A/B output option
Got a Zen Quadro and couldn’t be happier. At least on Mac I haven’t got any issues with the drivers and the interface sounds amazing. 😊
Respectfully, and appreciating your intention, I’m responding because, based on the results I’ve seen, I’m certain of the mistakes made and can even imagine what went wrong during your measurements. But anyway, there’s so much wrong information here, so many mistaken conclusions, that I don’t even know where to begin. The worst part is that you end up influencing a lot of beginners or people who don’t have much knowledge on the subject. By the end of the conversation, they feel happy because you’re telling them their $200 audio interface is as good as or even better than something like a Neumann MT 48, for example. I’ve been working as an audio engineer for two decades, and the difference in the quality of converters, preamps, headphone amplifiers, etc., between something like an Apogee Symphony or a Neumann MT 48 and many of the models you mentioned is huge. Even a layperson who spends an hour recording and listening to sound using both interfaces side by side would notice the difference and laugh at any comparison suggesting they’re in the same tier. I’m writing this with all due respect and no intention to offend. However, if someone watches this video while looking to buy an audio interface, it’s important to highlight that, while almost all of these options may serve them well in some situations, there are very distinct quality tiers, and there are indeed very noticeable differences between many of these models.
Hello, is it possible to connected 4 speakers ( 2 on the main output + 2 on the playback output) to play at the same time? Thx for the video btw helped a lot.
Amazing and very true, scientific type of review. Thank you so much.
I own a Focusrite 6i6 2nd gen , I recently bought a pair of Sennheiser HD560s. The volume is enough but I thought maybe upgrading to a dedicated headphone amp for better sound quality. Maybe a topping L70. Do you believe that it won’t produce a better sound quality ? Like a tighter bass a maybe a cleaner and smoother sound. I have no way to test it, only to buy it and see if it works out. I believe that there will be a. Better sound but what is your opinion ? Thanks 😊
No Arturia? I have a Arturia Audiofuse Studio and the mic preamps are fabulous. Awesome sounding interface.
Yeah, that’s wasn’t able to test everything, but I will eventually test the arturia.
@@Get.Beautiful.RecordingsThank you!
Great video...very informative ...great track too...the drummer❤
Haha… yeah… that drummer is kinda not bad. :)
Interfaces are completely obsolete. Do the research, buy a mixer.
lol. The vast majority of pro studios use an audio interface, not a mixer. Do your research.
To get the audio from a mixer to your DAW, you need an interface. Do your research. 😂
@@dirface I explained this in some detail but my comment went to Narnia, I guess. All mixers with a built in interface stream at least the master through USB. And many do all channels individually before the fader into the daw plus the master. Same in reverse. Some can enable routing from multiple tracks from your daw into some if not all of your mixer channels. And so on. AD-DA converters, in terms of components, are very cheap nowadays. I would not be surprised if someone is already making violins with more IO channels than "specialized" interfaces.
not enough RME gear in that studio :)
Thanks for the video! this is a great review! As far as I know Zen Quadro has Antelope Galaxy converters (one of the best). Which one has better converters and more transparent preamps compared to mt48?
So while I agree that you can easily make great music on almost any modern interface, I don’t agree at all that there are little to no audible difference between preamp, output stages and converters. These loop tests have very low output impedance feeding mic pres and don’t represent how a different mics will react. Input impedance will drastically change how a microphone sounds since mics have much different output impedance than the interface output. Changing digital filter slopes on something like an RME ADI-2 is clearly different to my ears even though they don’t have much of an impact to frequency response within human hearing range. Driving good low impedance headphones requires power beyond what most budget interfaces provide. I’m not discouraging folks from buying less expensive interfaces to make great music but am saying don’t be fooled thinking there are little to no benefits with higher end interfaces….
please do a test on the audient id24 and presonus quantum hd 2
Hey Kris, i would be grateful for a response..i thought i understood dynamic range until i watched your vids..i play classical piano..loudly..i have an earthworks pm40..i thought the dynamic range of converters would tell me what they could handle until clipping? who makes the best converters to handle highest decibels without clipping? all the best, devvin giorgio
Hi, If your input is clipping, you need to turn the gain down on your preamp. I find it unlikely that you would be playing loud enough to still be clipping with the gain all the way down, but if that’s the case then an attenuator such as the triton Airhead would fix it. Another possibility is that the sound is too loud that it’s actually the microphones themselves that are clipping. Those mics can handle 150 db of Spl… so it’s unlikely that you are clipping them… but if you somehow did manage to max out their volume, then you would need a different microphone, preferably a dynamic.
Hi, do you mind if I asked to have the youtube link of the female singer and her guitar in your 1:00 time stamp? Love it somuch
This is a very informative video. For content creators focused on live streaming, driver compatibility and system interoperability across Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android platforms is crucial. Another essential requirement is mix-minus functionality for dual audio interface setups, ideally with minimal latency. The user interface must also remain intuitive and efficient during live broadcasts. Both livestreamers and radio broadcasters typically establish their optimal settings once, unless working with mobile setups. The priority should be creating the ideal audio processing chain to achieve the desired tonal character. The Shure microphone discussed here has become something of an industry standard, particularly for its characteristic proximity effect and overall sonic signature. While alternatives like the Røde Procaster and Roland Bridge Cast X are worth considering, I'd suggest the Universal Audio Apollo Twin X Heritage Edition as a reference point (once properly configured). The distinctive coloration it provides - that analog warmth with subtle harmonic shimmer and velvet-like smoothness - is a intentionally sought-after characteristic that's difficult to replicate with other interfaces
Holy f*ck: Information that's useful.
Does anyone know if all the problems in Windows have been solved?
first and problably last comment
lol… thanks for the comment :)
Just wonder why ssl didn't appear in the final recommendations since ssl, according to your words, is your favorite?
A touch screen with MacOS kind of defeats the purpose, Windows is a lot better at handling touch.
I disagree. Going from an SSL2 to an audient id4 mk2 i can clearly head the sound much more pleasing and warm. The ssl is good but has this very thin and harsh sound that hurts my ears every time i play fps games where you shot guns. This was very evident on milsim videogames where you can hear every footstep, clothing making noise, items falling etc. That is the only reason why i prefer the audient. I had this issue only with the ssl tho, so i cannot speak for the other. Now that i got rid of my xlr mic i'm actually using the new m4 mac mini and sound almost identical to the audient.
I thought I was gonna skim this video, but I watched the whole thing. I have a volt 276 , and I like it a lot. Probably gonna get a twin though

what is the difference between the first version of go and the latest version the parameters are the same better than the first version there will be no recording what is the point of changing start with this
What about the noise floor ? Is it better than that of the Id series?
Does anyone use Acid Pro? Is it good? I've got it as part of a bundle, and I read it was very good once upon a time, but I don't know if any pros use it these days.
Wonderful informational video. Many thanks
Cheap electronics components wiring circuit boards the evidence says he's saying to use a buffer on computers because the hard drive can't keep up with the megabytes of data that the hard drive and stuff has to put down
And I noticed latency happens on very quick fast tight songs
So basically the more electronic crap in circuits and all the other stuff that it LinkedIn and then it causes latency and a lot of times yeah the mixer too cuz it's got all kinds of circuits and depends on who makes the mixer I don't know Neve they might be aware of this since they've been doing professional stuff for a while but I don't know for sure they're all there is there a mixer equipment and all the other stuff it's a lot of money for this stuff I guess this could be the reason I don't know if you know Electronics just fucking suck all the parts are making up a few milliseconds here and there I have about I don't know how many three or four I've lost count of a voice live TC Helicon voicelive equipment I got the extreme I got all of them and latency I can't use them with my with my my pa5x my pa1000 Korg arranger keyboards cuz of the latency then I so I tried to do it all on board the the Korg let's go to another set of problems
