Great video! Busse Woods is one of my favorite places to fish in Chicago, though it can be difficult some times. Back in 2021 had 6 largemouth bass back to back using a frog on the south lake. Haven't had that kind of luck at Busses since. Can't wait to get back out there in 2025. Would love to learn more about your kayak setup.

I caught an 18lb lake trout out there late this past summer. You cannot believe how much better lake trout tastes when it's fresh. It's true of all fish, obviously, but lake trout especially! I was surprised how difficult it was to reel that thing in!
@trainier they fight pretty good, especially when they are in shallow and the water is nice and cold

I’ve never met an angler that doesn’t know what Lake Michigan has to offer. Some may not realize that you can literally. Catch every one of those species from the Milwaukee harbor, but they definitely know they exist in the big pond lol.
@sbcbaits994 of course, most Anglers know, but i take people out from all over the world and a lot of 1st timers and they have no idea. Ask random people in your area if they know what kind of fish are in LM and watch their response.
To keep a musky in the state of Michigan it has to be a minimum of 49 inches. That's right people. 4 feet and 1 inch is the minimum for a michigan musky

What size of pick up truck do you tow this with? I’m thinking about getting the vs1882 idk if I can tow it with a tundra?

@CloudFT I've had the 165wt 175WT, the Tracker Targa. And now the Ranger VX1988. If you have the space, go as big as you can. If you want more storage, go with the Tracker. To me, they both handle the about the same, and you will save money on the Tracker. Every Tracker and including my Ranger had issues. Drain plug issues on the Ranger. Water in the compartments on the Ranger and Tracker. I do like the Ranger. Just wish it had more storage compartments.

@CloudFT the drain plug has a level in the splash well. The lever has a cord which connects to the drain plug. When you turn the lever it doesn't fully seal the drain plug. They replaced mine. Another guy I know had his replaced 6 times in 2 years.

I have the same rig, and have been wanting to add one for a while now. Did they punch some holes thru the back storage compartment for the plumbing? I also am switching over to electric riggers this year. Did you run your own wires or did you have dealership install? I am trying to get a wire routing plan together and there is nothing like some advice from someone who did it already. Its an awesome rig! I'm starting my 5th season in mine and have been on 3 great lakes with it now and love it. Thanks and tight lines!
@anthonyspears9129 I had everything done through the dealer (Cabelas). That way, it's all under warranty. They did another through hull and into the storage compartment for the pump. The downriggers I had them run the wires and plug in through the gunnel.
