You mentioned you were placed in Do Not Ship could you talk about the process in HOA because i got here last week and ive yet to get any info on my waiver were you also waiting for a waiver?
yes I was waiting for a waiver. it really depends what put you on the do not ship list. can take anywhere from days, weeks, to months depending on the reason you were put there.
Thank you for taking the time and explaining the process for this career. I extremely interested in becoming a loadmaster, do you have any advice you can give me so I can achieve that. Also will this job transition into the civilian world and if so what are they ?
Just balance social and school life. A lot fail out because they don’t take it seriously but if you give your time to study you’ll be good. And civilian world, I hear there isn’t too much to do but there are some options to instruct at the schools and some govt jobs that can use your specialty. But go to school while you’re in so you have options when you get out
i leave on jan 25th for bmt as a loadmaster. i know it’s a lot of waiting for slots to open up so you can complete all of your training, what do you do in the mean time while waiting for slots to open??

is there a good way to get the airframe you want to fly on?
Not really, whatever is available is what they will give out
Where have you travelled to so far, and how is parachute training like in sere? What exactly do they make you do
Depends which plane you get determines where in the world you go. But you go to 3 states for training. And pretty much just how to use a parachute correctly
Do you know if you fail the depth perception test if you can retest with glasses to qualify for the loadmaster. I didn’t know I really needed glasses at MEPS and failed the depth perception but have now gotten glasses lol
not too sure because I had contacts in and they had me take them off. so honestly not sure if it will make a difference...

man im looking to join up and this career checks all the boxes for me...whats the chance of actually getting it if this is #1 on my list? what are some other aircrew careers you know about that i could put down that would let you travel like this?
Just look up all the “A” jobs on the list of enlisted AFSC those all travel. And first score a 57 or higher on the ASVAB. Slots are pretty limited so it’s pretty much luck or if your recruiter is willing to wait for a spot to open for you

Hi JAY BEE What is the total length of time for the aircraft loadmaster technical school? Other than ASVAB, having it listed as number 1, and the AFSC being available, do you know what other requirements exist for landing the loadmaster job? Thanks in advance!
Depends on what aircraft you get at BLM. Mine is 6 months, some are 4 months. But that’s not including the waiting you will have if you still gotta go through BLM and SERE. So overall it can be about a year or longer till your actually done. And you can’t fail depth perception at MEPS and during BMT you will have a flight physical which you must pass as well
I came in the Air force in 1978 as a Loadmaster. I did Lackland AFB, Sheppard AFB, Altus AFB, and Charleston AFB as my permanent duty station on C-141 Starlifter.

@@joshuawalker8585 I'll bet it's totally different now from when I went in 1978. Just do best you can on the ASVAB test. It opens alot of job opportunities.

my bad for the super late reply. But after is pretty much waiting for the recruiter to call you to tell you your job and ship out date then just prepare for BMT

Sorry for the late reply but yes you can be out till 10pm I believe. and guest can visit but they can't go up to your room.
