Even so called 'experienced' divers don't seem to appreciate enough that nytroxigen narcosis is very real even at shallow depths. In other words, what seems easy on the surface becomes really hard once you've been down in the water for over 20-30 mins. This explains why even people that dove several times in an apparently "easy" cave occasionally die in it.

Seems like nitrogen narcosis could have been a possibility, especially when going in much deeper. It can set in at depths of past 50 feet, and could cause disorientation/poor decision making. This probably explains why the one diver had removed all of his gear that was still functional.

To compare cave diving to roads is fucking ridiculous. Roads serve a purpose to the average person in everyday life. They help me get to work quickly and help me travel long distances much more easily. What fucking purpose does an underwater cave offer aside from a horrific way to die

I bet most of the people criticising divers are smokers who know it kills millions per year and will give them lung cancer eventually(including people around them who passively smoke their cigarettes).

the new world would never have been found if everyone wanted to outlaw cave diving because some people die every year, the only real risk of death is to cave divers themselves, why close it down, they would outlaw mountain climbing too with that attitude, many frozen people remain on Mount Everest but people still try to climb it.

a better comparison would be driving without a seatbelt vs cave diving without a plan. Alot of fatalities happen because people dont plan out what they intend to do and take all precautions, diving below 130 feet is always going to be dangerous no matter in a cave or not.
