      Should have bought a TD42 patrol mate, wouldn’t need the tool shop to go with it lol all jokes aside another informative video. I’ve got a GU TD42. My mates often make comment on the tools I carry. It’s a fine balance of not taking too much but enough to do the job. I’ve got a salt shift chassis flusher, didn’t think about carrying it in the vehicle. I’ve pretty much got what you’re carrying tool wise as well. I also carry a grease gun. I carry a Phillips and flat screwdriver, shifter, and multi grips in my drivers door pocket. When I’m checking over the vehicle it’s easier to grab a quick tool from the door pocket as opposed to finding the tool bag. I’ve got a roof mounted storage box where I keep all of my spares etc. one thing I did was got onto a bloke wrecking a patrol and got pretty much one bolt of everything nuts radiator bracket vehicle specific brackets etc. so no matter what I’ve should have a spare bolt in just about every situation.

      @@conellisgreatadventure8864 haha I’m a fitter and Turner by trade - so for me it’s hard to minimise what tooling i need, and having the tool that will do or the tool that makes it easiest or carry both. I found I don’t need to carry a grease gun, as literally most mechanics or tyre shops around the country are happy to lend you theirs to punch a bit of grease in. In Broome I got a new set of tyres and while it was on the hoist they let me have a quick once over under it and carry out a bit of an inspection. Can’t beat the flex on a patrol - but I can’t go past the reliability and minimal problems I’ve had from my cruiser, but you can guarantee that if I didn’t carry all those tools id have all sorts of disasters lol Fuel wise we are fairly heavy loaded, sitting on our gvm. But also if I could drive without going over 100km/ph on the Highway I’d save another 2L per 100. We found it goes down to around 14-15L per 100. We also found it goes up to around 23-25 L per 100 in the NT doing 130kmph haha

    Great video bro. I just bought my first 76... and I really wanted to learn how to service it. Would love to see your take on the diff and transfer case Oils etc. As well as your grease care. Thanks for the video it was very informative

    • @seventysixtracks
      @seventysixtracks 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey mate, thanks for the message. So I change the gearbox and transfer oils as regularly as the diffs. If I've been going through water and heavier offroad use I change it around 20k k. If only highway driving I’ll do it whenever I get the chance before 30-40k km. I use penrite pro gear gl5 oils for diffs, gl4 gearbox and transfer case. Greasing - I do the front driveshaft every 5k if we've been doing plenty of 4x4ing and if not every 10-15k. Don't go over the top, they only need a couple of pumps each. And careful not to over grease the spline of the driveshafts as it'll restrict movement under full compression. Ball joints etc - I throw a few pumps of grease in every oil change. Just recently changed my first set at 250k km but even then they still had life left in them. I've been happy with all the penrite products. Would double check oil for your 76 as they changed the recommended types for engine after 2016, and the gearbox did change a gear ratio. So I’m unsure if it still uses the same viscosity oils. The penrite tablets in any repco will be able to tell you. Hope this helps

    Love the setup guys, ive been looking into The Bush Company RTT but i can't find a reliable source for the roof load rating on the 76 series and nothing in the manual, with everything you have bolted on, awnings, rack, RTT how much weight in total do you think you have on the roof? Under 150kg?

    • @seventysixtracks
      @seventysixtracks 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there, we’ve got a decent estimate of around that 150kgs including load bars as we don’t have a rack. Correct that there is no real resource in the manual, online etc. maybe there is with the new model ? What I’ve come up with is on the Toyota website when ordering a new 76 at the time you could order a a set of load bars with it rated to 150kg + the load bar weight. A rough estimate of 160kgs total. Also there is an email circulating around that was headered and footed by Toyota stating the same above. 150kg + approved load bars in any conditions (dynamic and off-road) Take this how you want but I’d interpret as Toyota only like Toyota stuff therefore any other branded load bar would be included in the 150kg dynamic loads Now I know this is a very roundabout answer but I’ve been down the route you are trying to find the roof weight and that’s the best I got. I also received a similar answer from my local Toyota. I’ve never had any drama with overloading as we do come in at our gvm and I’ve adjusted my suspension to suit the body roll.
