Wicked Alaska
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 16 ก.พ. 2023
Having a wicked good time exploring the wilds of Alaska!
My wife and I have a diverse interest in all things outdoor adventure. We go skiing, biking, fishing, hunting, paddling, hiking, camping... you name it! We even built our very own off-grid cabin in the woods. Why the cabin? It's our way to get even closer to more remote Alaskan adventures.
Cheers!

Adventuring Bird Valley, Alaska: ATV and Hiking
A very enjoyable exploration of Bird Valley in October. Below freezing temps and clear skies meant dry and firm trails. I'm excited to travel deeper into this trail system in the future. This was sort of a "figure out what's there" kinda adventure. Much more to come on this area next year!

Building a Shelter and Camping Under the Northern Lights
มุมมอง 32414 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
I love adventures on our land in Alaska. This weekend we had friends up to build a shelter, share campfire dinner, and sleep out under the aurora (northern lights). It was just above freezing at night. A perfect weather for camping out and having a fire.

A really enjoyable coastal bike ride adventure in Italy. One of the best! We started our day off in an awesome way, swimming and relaxing by the pool. We then rode 30 miles along the coast, seeing lots of amazing scenery. We finished the day off with a swim in the sea and pizza and wine on the water. #italy #biketour

A really fun ride, both on bikes and on the train. Lots of ground covered today. It was really cool to hit the train and continue our bike ride from a very different part of the country. #italy #biketour
Boating the Kenai River: Caden’s First Fishing Trip and Camping at Lower Skilak Lake
มุมมอง 14621 วันที่ผ่านมา
Join us for an exciting fishing adventure on the Middle Kenai River! We jumped aboard our neighbor’s new boat, and they brought along their 1-year-old son, Caden, for his very first fishing trip. It was a memorable weekend on the water. Tristan, Ruby, and I camped out at the Lower Skilak Lake Campground in our tent.

You should always use a layer of parchment paper between the aluminum foil or cookware and your food. Aluminum toxicity causes Alzheimer's and kidney disorder. There is cast iron made for camping and its a way better choice. It'll also last forever, so in the long run its cheaper than aluminum foil.
Is this true? I saw something saying the dosage of tin foil is so low it wouldn't harm you.
@@wickedalaska it's cumulative over time. One time isn't going to hurt anything but most people that camp do it all the time. It's like Mercury in fish. If you eat yellowfin tuna a couple times a year you don't need to worry but if you eat it every weekend you should switch to something with lower mercury content
@@somedude5637 ah... That makes sense. Thanks for the clarification.
I think we are in the same neighborhood
Maybe!
I would insist on switching meals in case she poisoned yours
Hah! Good defense!
You are squatting and eating. 😮😮😮😮why not just sit comfortably on ground or chair and eat???.
Hah! We're unscripted and goofy. Who knows what we're doing or why, we sure don't!
lol, we had a cow and calf, they loved our yard. Broke our fence at several different places this year. I feel your pain!
They jump surprisingly high, though sometimes just not enough!
Shoutout to Cyle with a C!
Hey! Never met another before. Cheers!
@@wickedalaska cheers buddy!!
I love the adventure! I really like the fact that you get out and do so much! Great videos for me sitting in a dark office staring at a computer screen, and missing Alaska! Thank you
Bird valley is a super cool spot to adventure. Been up here in the winter too. Love this spot as it's so close to my place.
Some hot sauce would be good on that
Oh you bet!
hey man, Im new to the skadic and sometimes I am riding with the wife,. do you think you can get use to the tippiness or an expedition would be better ? we had 2 bad years for snow in Yukon and it seems like there is more pack trail than deep snow
The skandic is the tippy version of the expedition. That being said, I do have a good amount of experience riding both and both are similar. The expedition has a wider ski base than the skandic, making it more stable. I've noticed that having ski skins makes a subtle difference as well, because that adds width to your front end.
It's one of the bizarre life cycles of any animal.
Indeed
Love me some hobo dinners. Some saltines would be clutch.
It's a make your own adventure type of meal. Always a crowd pleaser!
As a anchorage resident we are so happy its just a tourist train and not a cargo train when it hits c street and arctic in rush hour
No doubt. Them cargo trains are long!
Bro why tf u so close to my house ur literally not evenn a quarter of a mile away from it
Anchorage is a pretty small town. Say hello if you see me!
I’m checking my watch. Nahhhh I’ll wave
Hey! Thanks for the wave!
@@wickedalaska I’m the one in the car, but right on.
Cyle? Cool🤷♂️
Yup, that's me! I also get Cycle or Clyde, depending on what spell checker corrects it. hah!
@@wickedalaska I definitely almost called you cycle until I corrected the correction so I get it😅
@@justinobambino1199 its on half my documents. Kinda annoying at times, but I guess it's unique and cool.
@@wickedalaska definitely unique and cool you wear that shit bro🤜🤛
Whaddya mean his name is Cyle?
You bet! That's my name!
Awesome video! I miss seeing the Norhern Lights. Had someone send me some pics from about a month ago of the light show around Kenai area, and it was amazing!
It's a fairly active year in the sky already! Should be a light show filled winter.
My kids love hobo dinners. I do a tilapia with lemon baby squash and zucchini with onion for my son. Steak and mushrooms with potatoes for me and my daughter, minus the shroomies.
Squash and zucchini sounds awesome!
A little instant mashed potato's and you got a nice shepherd's pie.
Oh damn! Next time I'm doing this!
When I was a kid on scouts, just before I went camping, my dad made me some tinfoil dinners. I remember him wrapping them up and saying just throw them in the fire. Perfect
Awesome. We premake ours too. Makes it easy once you're in the field.
Been nibbling on that hat or do you sleep with rats?
"C for Kyle" 🤔
I spell my name with a C
@@wickedalaskaNever say Kyle spelt that way mate lol
@@dominicsouthan4492 don't know what to tell you. It's the name I was given.
@@dominicsouthan4492 haha
Is it spelled Cyle? If so it must be frustrating to constantly have strangers call you Syle.
Um worked that train for years, and mooning is the correct Alaskan wave to the train. Fourth of July in Ferry is a good one😂
Noted. I'll start wearing easily removable pants from now on for this very occasion.
Beautiful northern lights kinda night!
A pretty good one. Can't wait to get out there again soon!
How was it?!
Taste great. Very similar to white tail heart.
Any plans to build a ladies suite onto this shelter?
Depends, are you proclaiming you want to stay out? I bet Tristan would stay out if you did too.
I smiled through the entire video. God bless❤
Awesome! It was a really fun evening in the woods.
This is bad for your brain 🧠
You have a Jerry bear icon. Who are you to judge what's good for your brain. Hah!
Interesting to see what we all call it. I’ve heard and used “silver turtle” myself, but we wrapped the whole thing in a cabbage leaf. Good times
Love the silver turtle. Using that next time!
Hell yeah man! We just bought a house in kenai and have had 3 different moms and their babies around. There are a few yearlings that tail them. One is a bull!!!! It’s so cool to see them up close like that but worrisome when they start doing stupid shit! One jumped from our yard into the neighbors yard over the 4 foot chain link, THE ONLY SPOT THAT WAS 4 FOOT TALL WHICH WAS A 6 FOOT RUN!!! The neighbors were all out chillin then poof moose in the back yard over the fence!!! Lmao and no way out but the way it came in. Sketchy at best.
They are surprisingly good at jumping fences. Mine is a 5.5 foot fence and it jumps it every winter to eat our backyard trees.
Mmm I never looked at it like like this video now and like this comment !❤❤
Thanks for watching and supporting my channel with a comment. I appreciate it. Much MUCH much more to come! Cheers.
What a fun looking trip!! Looks like you all are having so much fun!
Our Italy trip this past spring was a blast! I still have a ton of footage to go through. We had so much fun exploring around.
@@wickedalaska Good stuff, enjoy viewing
tinfoil dinner is what we called it in scouts. was one of my favorite camp meals
It's such an easy way to make a semi- complex meal on a camp fire.
Please stop. Alaska is cringe worthy enough.
How is Alaska cringe worthy?
As a Alaskan I seen that train before
It would be pretty hard to miss it if you live in the Anchorage area!
@@wickedalaska im going there on december smth
Ah, I've been there. Man has a really cool shop
It is super cool. I hadn't been there before finding his drone.
Cleaned that train every night the last two summers and I still haven't rode it on a proper trip
It's expensive. I haven't ridden it either.
@@wickedalaska I would've gotten half off because I worked with the cleaning crew they had, I just couldn't fit it into my schedule
@@phir77 bummer! Make it happen soon!
Did you move to Alaska last year ?
No, been here for a while and my wife grew up here. Just enjoying life and sharing aspects of the state I think others would enjoy.
I want a woman like this
I am very fortunate.
Shits called hobo dinner been making these since i was a child going camping
Yeah! I think the boy scouts have been teaching this method for a really long time too. It's a pretty easy way to make a good meal on the fire. Thanks for watching!
I saw the name, are yall actually doing this in alaska? Even if not that is so cool. I always wanted to visit. The food sounds and looks great 😮
Yes, we are in Alaska. Thanks for watching. Where are you viewing from?
😮😮😮 a great idea to hang out and have dinner and were lots of stars and have something to eat that's awesome yummy looks really good❤❤🎉🎉
We've been eating a lot of campfire meals recently. We had one the past week under the northern lights. It's been really fun.
Nice fire stupid
YUM!
Did you make these as an eagle scout?
What month were you guys on this system ?
I fish it anywhere between beginning of April and ending of May. Sometimes you get there and the run hasn't happened or has already come and gone. It's all up to the snow pack, river conditions, and when the fish want to move.
@@wickedalaska awesome man you guys timed it amazingly. Down here in Washington multi fish days are unheard of. Your right in stronghold of the last wild steelhead frontier. I hope I make it up there someday. Awesome video man.
@@EeRock507 thank you so much. I'm putting together another special project I know you'll like. Look for it late winter early spring. Tight lines!
Lol, ik the exact spot you guys took this video, drive by there a lot picking up my gf from her parent’s
It's an interesting neighborhood to drive through. Easy to get lost on the side streets.
Stand at the town sign that says welcome and moon them they will never forget being there 😂
Hah! Moon is on the way!
Dude that’s cool I live in Alaska to
Sweet. Thanks for watching. Alaska is awesome!
@@wickedalaska I agree
Great train ride, wildlife and scenery was amazing!!!
I've heard it's a great experience.
……….so what train is it…
Whelp ...i will now forever be waving at or from a train. danke 😅
Hah! We'll be waiting!
