😳 After the operator yells "Fire in the hole," you can hear a smaller engine accelerate. And the sound of a pinion gear resonating through a flywheel is obvious. Gotta be the largest diesel with an electric starter motor Ive ever known. Something this large you would expect to be started on compressed air
@@HansGurke44 Well, often Im wrong, but occasionally learn something new. So there's a pneumatic starting mechanism that I didnt know about! An air-driven starter motor. This is the first I'm hearing of it... Thank You 💜
This engine is not operating properly it should had fired right away seems like low fuel pressures are the problem I’ve worked on EMD and General Electric engines that powers locomotives so I know what a sick unit of this size should operate like and it’s not like this
Yes true but I’ve seen General Electric engines of this size and EMD units operate at 1000 to 1200 top RPM this one sounds sick should had fired up first try seems to have low fuel pressure
bubblelvr1 no I don't think it does have low fuel pressure I think they must have been doing anoil pressure build up run and to check for water in the engine
USS ENTERPRISE do u know what is this procedure i mean what r they doing And why they using air compresor which is behind the engine? Sorry 4 my bad basic English mr.
That's an excellent comparison ;) 😳 After the operator yells "Fire in the hole," you can hear a smaller engine accelerate. Might want to install an over crank on that
How long has the cameraman had TOURETTS ????? 🤔🤔🤔🤔📸📸📸📸
Its amazing how much air pressure you need to get that pneumatic starter motor going to get that engine started .
The twit that uploaded it could of rotated it. Also could have edited it to start at 4'50"
In Dawson all of them on compressed air, that's normal if new or not started in awhile, go this time, no load for it to grab is the problem.🤠

For me it definitly sounds like the typical CAT air starter in this video

That first noise is pre-lube pump. The 2nd is a pneumatic start motor
VTEC ????? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🍺🍺🍺🍺
Sounds like a rolls merlin more than a purring cat, was the camera man having a seizure lol
:) Terrific comparison. Peculiar how a radial sounds rough when it's "rich," but a large-scale diesel sounds similar when it's starving for fuel
For Sale 10 Cylinder Heads Caterpillar 3618 Marine Engine
where is this Place, something wrong with the fuel system, Do you need Cat technician? i'm available.
Something sure doesn't sound right; no boost from turbskis? Is this bc of a no-load situation?
0:14 Matrix confirmed
I just came across this video YouTubing different cat engines and noticed your last name. We have the same last name😂

I agree... sounds terrible !!
@@DT-ge8gd: I'll second that.
You do realize that is a natural gas engine and not diesel? completely different engine to start and load.
@@farmtechford no did not know so is this straight natural gas or dual fuel type if so now I know it’s expected
Love this engine! But the wacky camera is horrible.
Cat 3612 engine just run 900 rpm.
Yes true but I’ve seen General Electric engines of this size and EMD units operate at 1000 to 1200 top RPM this one sounds sick should had fired up first try seems to have low fuel pressure
Most of the EMD engines are governed at 900 rpms
John McLaurin not the new sd70 aces looking on the computer that show the engines rpm I’ve seen them at 1200 rpm
385 rpm idle
bubblelvr1 no I don't think it does have low fuel pressure I think they must have been doing anoil pressure build up run and to check for water in the engine
Sounds kind of like an old Pratt & Whitney radial waking up.
yes,the same noise!!!

Is Michael j fox recording this? Jesus Christ spastic fuck holding the camera....
Show aqui no Brasil mexo muito em 3600
yep!
is it remot radiator ?
Its on a repair shop test stand. The radiator is the big black thing to to the front side of the engine.
could u tell me what is this procedure?
Atila Dorsay test run
Great job
@@epistte Thanks! I couldn't identify the radiator either. LOL
my bread and butter. love these engines.
I bet you do, those pieces of crap keep a lot of mechanics in business.
