My husband introduced me to your interview on Pitchoff after this noob hiker finished it on Saturday. It was so incredible to hear you echo almost word for word all that I said to him while clinging to rock protrusions on the face of that mountain…even to my threats on the second part of the ascent when I expressed my intention to quit should one more of those maneuvers present itself. Thank you so much for everything you shared! I was truly questioning whether I had the chops to go beyond after finishing the 9er’s challenge!

Re: Harris/Biden Asleep at the Wheel. 1000 Natl. Guards AFTER A WEEK!!! Who are they kidding? The skies should have been filled with Blackhawk helicopters from the first hours, as they were during Vietnam War monsoons! Maybe a bit too much time spent campaigning & beach lounging. Instead Harris/Biden are busy blocking shipments of donated Starlink antennas & fining volunteers’ drone flights searching for survivors & victims, despite their keeping far lower ceilings than SAR aircraft. Bureaucracy at its best keeping their status quo as the over arching priority. Thank you for the comment about just planning on delaying your unnecessary trips. You would not believe the number of people on Facebook over the past couple of days cheerily announcing they were going to Boone next weekend and what should they see! By today folks were losing their tempers and not replying as kindly. I grew up in WNC and my family is still there. Don’t say you’re going to run up and check on your camper in Hendersonville. No, you’re not! Sections of I-40 near the TN line fell off the side of the mountain. Sections east of that are covered in mudslides. As of today, people were still being rescued from those. The backroads either don’t exist anymore or have missing bridges or trees and power lines across them. The town of Chimney Rock is simply gone. There’s mud and some tree limbs where it used it to be. Other small towns have suffered the same fate.
