Kristy was one of the few really good female dancers who never did a split (although she looked like she could have done one in this routine), and I always wondered why. There is a required figure skating move for women called a spiral, which is basically a split with one foot in the air and one on the ground, so I can see no reason why she couldd not have done a split on the ground.

Completely agree. Never in all of the seasons has a couple dominated the way Kristy and Mark did in this dance. This was the dance in which I felt Kristy was the most comfortable.
