Liar we’re not believe your video
what the hell is this? T'ai Chi in such shoos? She has no power and no breathing and no good balance. The weight shift is unbelievable incompetent. Sorry.
Nice exercises. I’ve seen moves like that shoulder windmill exercise in piququan. Very cool, thanks!
Girl, the fact that you brought your cellphone, and let your instruction vid interrupted by it... is sooo T'ai Chi.
in this one I get interrupted by a dog! th-cam.com/video/BF79OnhYSjg/w-d-xo.html
Seriously! you're making this shit up. Go to Asia.
Lots of interesting details. I don't try these standing sessions enough. I managed 40 minutes before I needed to sit down. Thank you
Meus parabéns pelo seu trabalho e Canal sucessos
Thank you!
I sensed quite a lot of things while practising to this video (like I usually do when I get a chance to do this)! I had times when I needed to check my posture and make sure I've got my feet in the right places and that I'm upright as well as sinking my hips. It has to be said that sometimes I'm not as upright as I should be whilst sinking down (but I usually manage to adjust myself while focusing on what I'm doing). The rolling exercise was a good work out for my lower body (so in other words, it murdered my legs and hips a bit)! I knew that the plan was to go through the form slowly (but I found myself doing it at my usual pace (which might not have been as slow as you meant it to be). I feel like I'm improving slightly at stepping back and out (rather than just stepping back). I intend to keep practising everything that I learn, though!
I might end up saying this a lot (but I really think that it's interesting how much one can notice when practising something like this)! My limbs were tense when doing the loosening exercises at the start (which could be coz I was feeling stressed before I started this replacement class or just coz I hadn't done much movement beforehand). I loosened up as I went along. I seem to find it hard to keep my hips down when doing Urchin Kicks His Legs. I might be wrong in thinking this (but it's one hip down and one hip up), right? And I find that both of mine come up (but I managed not to wobble). I also sometimes forget to circle my arms when doing Fairy Points The Way (which I know is part of the exercise and I shouldn't make things up). I guess that I do that so that I can keep up with the pace and give myself time to get into the right position. I intend to keep practising everything that I learn, though!
It's interesting how much one can notice about their technique while practising, eh? My limbs were tense when I started practising to this video and didn't fall up and down or go round my waist loosely. I had to gather a bit of momentum and loosened up as I went along. I realise that my hips should stay sunk the whole time (but sometimes I come up or I fidget before sinking again when it feels uncomfortable) as it does after a while. I also noticed that I was so focused on getting the footwork right when doing Step Back and Repulse The Monkey that I wasn't sunk enough in my hips. I'll keep working on these things and I intend to keep practising everything that I learn!
Chen Tai Chi has much lower stances.
This is a good session to return to from time to time and have in the library
Thanks as always for the lovely feedback - what is it about this session that makes you want to go back to it?
@@greyheroninternalarts6072 It is good to practise the basics to consolidate them into one's own sessions and adjust as necessary.
Yooo
Looking forward to more swimming dragon in our live classes.
I love the water imagery, great explanations and exercised
Thanks for the feedback.
Great thank you
Brian sutton tia chi from roswell ga the master of tia chi would be horrified of this as well as me. Get lost. Not funny. Take this off TH-cam. I'm highly 😢offended by this.
Thank you for your message. I am sorry you are feeling offended and filled with horror. Can you please say specifically what is offensive and horrific about this video? I am very interested in your feedback as an instructor always looking to improve. Sifu Brian Sutton is most welcome to watch and give his views too. I believe he's a Yang stylist and does martial applications? Just to give some context, this class a course loosely Chen based, but focussing mostly on qigong, balance improvement and well being, for a group of elderly students (some of whom are in their late 90's) who all wish to become better at balancing and a bit more fit. It's more on the rehab end of T'ai Chi practise. Doing self massage and chair based techniques is a great way of improving one's kinaesthetic awareness. The needs of a class dedicated for people with balance issues over a mainstream class are quite different. There is a greater need for feeling relaxed and safe over correctness of technique and martial application. The tea break is a crucial element to this class in terms of social connection and is what the class is mostly about, so can look quite different to that of a mainstream class. Don't be a stranger, feel free to comment and show your teacher, he is very lucky to be practising with some of the greats. Nice to meet you and best wishes Fara
Howdy Faz great video thank you...❤
Hi there! glad you liked it.I really enjoyed making a new freind. Feel free to private message me on Facebook! thanks Fara!
I must admit that I'm a bit rusty (coz I haven't done much practise since before Christmas), but I'm keen to get back into it and my arms were tense when I started practising to this video (but my feet did what they were meant to be doing) and I had the intent there. I loosened up as I went along and I intend to keep practising everything that I learn! JOKE.. Where's a good place to go horse riding? Canter-bury!
Good bluff dood
😊hello from Malaysia..I have just started Taichi and find your casual/approach very charming..'excuse me my feet r obscured by the rose bush😂love it!makes TC less intimidating. Also sorry my shoes r same colour as the grass😂you're hilarious..love it!
Thanks very much, wow Malaysia! we work in the UK, mainly specialising in people with balance issues and brain injuries. I am very glad you are learning Tai Chi and I hope you are enjoying it a lot. Its a good art to learn and practise. I find it less intimidating the more I practise. Nice to meet you!
I sensed quite a lot of things while practising to this video... My Rising Coiling Dragon is more of a clumsy one coz I tend to either get the footwork or the waist and arms correct (but not both). I often lumber or twirl into position with the feet (rather than planting them where they should be). Hopefully this will be one of those things that I get progressively less bad at! I tried to adjust things like my posture whilst doing some of the exercises (rather than pausing to adjust my alignment and making sure that my hips were properly sunk (that kind of thing) and sometimes I managed this and sometimes I didn't. I expect it's one of these things that will improve over time. And I struggled with the slow descent when coming down from tiptoes and the exercise where we use our legs and hands to sit down slowly. I usually seem to plonk myself down quickly. I intend to keep practising everything that I learn, though! I've made up a ditty about your yoga mat too... "Evil cats, doo, doo, doo, doo doo, doo, evil cats, doo, doo, dooo, dooo, dooo, dooo, evil cats, doo, doo, dooo, dooo, dooo, dooo, evil cats. They scratched my mat, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, they scratched my mat, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, they scratched my mat, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo. What a pain! Hee-hee!
Really relaxing enjoy my classes with you Fara x
What is the spelling of the grandmaster to whom referred to with a quotation 'look ahead and listen behind'.
Grand Master Chen Xiao Wang
Hi - it's GM Chen Xiaowang
I found that I could stay standing on one leg while you were introducing Dragonfly Skims the Water (but then my dragonfly was a bit wobbly from time to time while doing the exercise). Maybe I wasn't on my best side or something. I also found that I was turning a bit too far when doing the Bear exercise (but I managed to correct myself). I haven't got time to say too much now (except that I intend to keep practising everything that I've learned)!
Great to practise footwork with parting the horse's mane.
I often notice that I pay more attention to sinking into my back leg when we're about to do an exercise that involves transferring the weight than I do with my alignment. I know that if one hasn't got the footwork correct, then the exercise will go wrong. I managed to correct my alignment, though. I've still got that bobbing up and down thing going on when I should be sinking my hips. You know how the body sends signals to the brain to do something about it when something hurts or feels uncomfortable, right? I think that's why I come out of sinking my hips and back in again. I feel like I'm improving at turning in my centre and stepping back and out when doing exercises that involve doing that (but of course I'll keep working on these things). I reckon that I'm getting the hang of turning my hands over when doing Roll Back after Inspect The Horse's Mouth (instead of lifting them), but of course there's always room for improvement with most things and I intend to keep practising everything that I learn!
Look for a different approach Amy. We don't have to 'try' to 'make' our hips sink any more than clouds have to make the rain fall - gravity will do the job. In fact 'trying' is more likely to reinforce the barriers than remove them. When we sit in a chair we don't think 'now I must make my hips sink'. we locate the chair - using touch and sight mostly - and simply sit. We might even go to sit and realise that the chair isn't right so we automatically stop ourselves. So when we 'sit' in to our legs and feet we do the same - we use our focussed attention to tell us where it is best for our weight to settle generally somewhat forward in our feet. When we have found the place where our weight is best going we can then see what it is that is stopping the hips in their natural descent ('yielding') according to the pull of gravity. The task then is to soften in those areas. A useful way to do this is to play with the idea in a chair; without the problems of falling and not having to contend with aching legs we can focus much more on the softening process and then begin to apply this to out standing postures.
I sensed that doing the rolling exercise when practising to this video felt different to when I did it the first time. My arms and legs felt achy after doing it 50 times before (but I felt it more in the hips this time), with my hips being on one side and the rest of my body on the other. I had to keep reminding myself not to stick my bum out too! I also noticed that my heels raised up when doing the exercise that involved transferring the weight between the front and back of the foot. That's no biggie, though (coz I usually manage to correct myself when I realise my mistakes). I also had to remind myself to sink into the front foot and then the back before doing the waist turn (and I think I did reasonably well at this). I intend to keep practising everything that I learn, though!
I have question, do you whats the most authentic orginial form of chen style, which is without corruption, As if you know, as time progress thought corrupt original form and some elite rulers too, So if aware of this, please tell me whats the most authentic form of chen style
Hi - it's a good question but I guess the first thing is 'what is authentic?' Having attended a few seminars with GM Chen Xiaowang it seems clear that things like the forms are not fixed in time and space but grow and change. If this is true then we can assume that it was so for all previous players so perhaps 'authentic' is about what happens at any particular time. I don't feel that this means that things are 'corrupted' though - as our world and our lives change then surely so should our practise! If you are trying to find what is 'authentic' for you the it's worth reading up on a variety of accounts of the history of the art - including the various translations of things like the T'ai Chi Classics - as well as getting a broader view of the society and culture in which these arts evolved; that way you can begin to understand what is right for you at this particular time.
@@greyheroninternalarts6072 ok thanks for your kind response🙏🙏
I sensed that I paid more attention to the feet when practising to this video that I did in Mike's class that you were referring to. I must admit that I wobbled a bit when stepping out and back (but I should improve the more I practise this). I've been practising turning in my centre when doing the loosening exercise with the waist turn and the arms flop round too and it's all work in progress.. I wouldn't claim to have fully improved yet. I still find that I bob up and down when standing with my hips sunk coz my legs sometimes feel uncomfortable when standing like that for "too long". Hopefully this will improve over time. I intend to keep practising everything that I learn!
Thanks ❤
I found most of the exercises very relaxing and I found myself bobbing up and down at one point when I should have stayed sunk in the hips. That's one of various things that I'm working on doing less of. I took to the exercise where we're stepping forwards and back and swinging the arms with the waist like a duck to water! I got on with it better when practising than when doing the actual class (even though I had one or 2 times when I straightened one leg when I should have kept a bend in both of them). I also messed up the footwork at least once when doing the 4 Corners (or Fair Lady Works At Shuttles) exercise (but that was just a one off). And I got so relaxed when doing the outside turn that I ended up doing the inside turn instead.. A classic example of getting distracted! I corrected myself on this, though. I intend to practise everything that I learn!
🌷♥️🌷
❤
I don't know about you (but I often sense a lot of things when practising Tai Chi). I've recently discovered that I've been sinking my hips incorrectly for the past 10 years (maybe a bit less) coz I've been bending my legs too much. And now I'm trying to do this while keeping my legs more upright. It was at one of Mike's classes that I found this out, though. As for this class... I sensed that my feet raised off the floor a bit when doing the "self hug" (the loosening exercise when doing the outside turn and arms flop round the body) and another loosening exercise when my feet should have been flat on the ground. It's one of those things that happens occasionally (but I usually notice what's happening and correct myself). I also noticed that I was so relaxed when doing things like Pushing a Wave that I'd do the exercise with one leg forward (but not the other). I was in the right stance (bow and arrow), but by the time I'd done it with my left leg forward (for example), the exercise would have finished and I hadn't done it with the other leg.. Ooooops! I guess all I can do is keep practising and perhaps bring my focus back. I intend to keep practising everything that I learn, though!
Try 're-framing' your approach. If we continue to strive to sink our hips it becomes a huge effort. Gravity will cause our hips to drop like anything else we drop (like a cup, or a set of keys) so work out about why your hips aren't dropping and and simply remove the obstruction (wu wei)! this is where our focus of attention comes to the fore!
I feel a lot more relaxed as a result of practising to this video! Don't want to say too much publicly (but I've come up against some very tough times lately). I had one or 2 times when I went from one Garuda position into another too quickly (and I felt like I could have done it more gracefully). And I found myself being a bit clumsy when doing the exercise where the arms go from vertical to horizontal with a waist turn. Could say more (but haven't got time now). I intend to keep practising everything that I learn!
FAB class and I liked the tour of the backgrounds! Unfortunately I haven't got time to say as much as I usually do (but I intend to keep practising everything that I learn)!
I love your changes of scenery.. It was like going on a virtual tour! Regarding this recorded session, though.. I feel a lot more relaxed as a result of practising to this video (but I was damn rusty at some of the exercises). My arms didn't go to the same position each time when doing the loosening exercise with the waist turn and the arms flop round the body and they weren't loose enough when they were in the right position. I found myself cutting corners with the exercise with the waist turn and the arms making shapes and then doing the bounces in the middle. Sometimes I just did one instead of 2 and I know that's not doing the exercise correctly. I did that to keep up with the pace (when I should have been focusing on the technique). I had one or 2 times doing the form when I went from one part to the other before I'd finished (so into "Spear hand" when I hadn't yet finished Brush Knee and Push for example). I lunged a bit when doing the exercise when transferring the weight and stepping forwards and back and swinging the arms using the momentum in the feet and legs. I intend to keep practising everything that I learn, though!
I sensed quite a lot of things while practising to this video.... I felt like I'd improved on the Shaking exercise coz I wasn't going up and down as much as I did when in class. I think that's coz I was more focused when practising afterwards. I felt the same kind of emotion from what you were saying while practising as I did in class (but I fronted it out better and didn't throw a wobbly). I'm still working on the rocking backwards and forwards with my feet on the ground (as I'd been doing it incorrectly for about 9 years)! I'm sure it will come in time, though. I found myself jumping once or twice when doing some of the loosening exercises (just little ones), but I know that's not correct and it doesn't happen that often. I definitely think that my arm shapes were better when practising to this video (but of course there's always room for improvement), right? I'm also finding it tricky to find the right balance when sinking my hips (coz sometimes my legs feel uncomfortable when I'm properly sunk), but I know it's not good practise to be too upright either. I intend to keep practising everything that I learn, though!
I sensed that I'm gradually improving at the first loosening exercise (which is turning the waist and the arms follow and flop round), having done this incorrectly for about 9 years! I'm still finding the drill where we kick and then do jab, cross, hook very difficult to keep up with. Sometimes I leave the kick out so that I can just about keep up with the pace of the punching and get the technique correct (but sometimes I'm unable to keep up with the pace AND get the technique correct). I'll keep working on that. I managed to keep my foot in the air for most of the balance exercise (but kept putting it down when circling the leg and opening the hip). I feel like I've come on leaps and bounds with Garuda Spreads Its Wings (but admittedly don't always pay attention to which leg I should be in) coz I'm trying to get into each position correctly first. I can get my back leg right on the ground, though! And I was less wobbly when doing the exercise with the hips parallel and feet raised off the floor when practising this time. My footwork was a bit clumsy when doing Phoenix Looks Down too.. I kind of shuffled my feet into position. Always something to work on, hey? I particularly enjoyed the exercise when lifting the leg up to the elbow (and I intend to keep practising everything that I learn)!
Wow, that's amazing Fara
I sensed that my leg work when doing the punching drill was a bit clumsy (like I was lumbering from side to side). One leg was more active than the other (but I also surprised myself once when doing the drill coz I spun round as part of the leg work)! The punching drill was just the right pace for me too. I found myself pausing briefly when doing the loosening exercise where you raise the arms up with the waist with a slight curve in the arm and had to remind myself to keep it flowing. Even though I haven't done the balance exercise with one leg up and the arm stretched out for a while, I think I was better balanced that when in class yesterday and doing parts of the form! I was also a tad wobbly when doing the exercise where the hips are parallel to the floor and feet slightly off the floor and you balance there for a bit (nearly landed on my bum all 3 times that we did it)! There's always room for improvement, though, right? I intend to keep practising everything that I learn!
I sensed more stuff that I need to improve on than things that I AM improving at! I feel like I'm getting better at the exercise where we turn the waist and make a square with the arms and then stretch up (coz I did the waist turn without moving my whole body and just turned to the corners), rather than turning too far and with my whole body (which is what I think I was doing before). Of course there's always room for improvement with everything, though, hey? I was rubbish at balancing when doing the horrible leg exercise when we stand on one leg and try to keep the other one in the air when circling the foot, moving it up and down and circling the hip. I kept putting my foot down every few seconds (but then it's been a while since I did one of these classes or practised one)! I noticed that my feet kept going out of Wu Chi and positioned at an angle when doing some of the loosening exercises (but managed to correct this). I found the punching drill with the leg swing hard to keep up with. Sometimes I didn't do the leg swing coz I found it hard to keep up with the pace, do the punching technique correct and do the leg swing. I intend to keep practising everything that I learn, though!
I sensed that my legs felt uncomfortable sinking down at first (coz it's been a week or so since I've been able to practise). I've been finding the Figure Of 8 difficult for quite some time (but I'll keep working on and practising this). I guess it's something that I'll get progressively less bad at! I had one or 2 times when raising the arms before we did the Bear exercise when my feet raised off the floor slightly (but only once or twice). I've been feeling a bit wound up lately since I got back from holiday (so practising to this video helped me to relax and feel calmer). I did one or 2 extra swings when doing the loosening exercise where the arms go up and down with the waist (like you're a kid who's just been told that you can't have cake for breakfast)! Then I reminded myself to just do one swing. I got a real sense of the meditational aspect of most of the exercises. BTW... I enjoyed hearing about how we met and got to know each other! It was interesting to hear the history!
I found this very helpful. Thank you
I sensed that my waist was on strike some of the time (when doing the version of Silk Reeling and Birds Flying for example). I tried to move my arms with the waist (but ended up doing some of the exercises involving a waist turn incorrectly). I felt like I'd improved at positioning my hands correctly when doing birds flying and I found myself doing those little jumps again when doing Wild Goose Flies. I think I've mentioned this in other videos that I've practised to (where I don't stay rooted to the ground when I should). This isn't a big issue, though (coz I don't seem to do it that often). I managed to do the loosening exercises and Dragon Serves Teacups reasonably well (so I don't know what was going on with my waist after that)! I'll try to remember to relax if I fall over in future (just generally in life of course). I found it a bit cringy when you and somebody else were talking about me too (coz my Mum was in ear shot). It was nice to hear, though! I intend to practise everything that I learn!
I sensed that my arms weren't as loose and relaxed as they should have been. I know that it's mainly the footwork that's more important (but when doing exercises like Flying Phoenix, it helps if both work together in unison). Maybe my body is just getting back into the swing of things after the festive season. I've also noticed that when doing the loosening exercise that I call the Self Hug, my arms sometimes don't naturally swing up and round with the waist. I do the waist turn and my arms swing round and land in the right positions (but I know that's not the correct technique). Always something to work on and practise, eh? I was very rusty with the exercise where one hand was up and one was out and we were circling our arms (something like that). I'm pretty sure that I didn't always position my hands correctly. I intend to keep practising everything that I learn, though! As for this egg throwing challenge in Swaffham Prior that you talked about.. I bet they had a cracking time.. Hee-hee!
I felt the meditation aspect of most of the exercises in a big way (probably coz I've got a busy mind and it feels so good when I do something relaxing like this)! I sensed that I'm a bit rusty at the Ba Duan Jin (as it's been a while since I last did it). I felt like I did reasonably well at Bear Wags Its Tail, though. It didn't murder my legs, though (so maybe I wasn't sunk enough in my hips). I tried to stay sunk whilst releasing the bow and shooting the arrow, though (but I admit that I had times when I came up coz I didn't feel comfortable to stay sunk). I'll keep an eye on this and work on it, though. I also noticed that my lower hand in Dance The Rainbow might have been a bit too high (but I think this varies each time I do it), so hopefully this is something that I'll gradually improve at. I intend to keep practising everything that I learn, though! As for the video that you saw on Facebook of the people in the cold looking relaxed but frozen, I expect that they had to Let It Go in the end... Hee-hee!
