I love that you didnt take it serious but it still came out really good
"Get out there. Do some dumb stuff" is some of the most inspirational advice I've heard in a while! Great video! Silliness is surprisingly effective motivation
This is great inspo to just get something done, no matter how much you want it to polish it! Love it.
0:05 if no one cares in the world, then I am no longer in the world. Good job, man!
subbing cus this fixed the rigs for my DBFZ models, and 3 years later this is STILL the only reliable vid to be found, thanks man, I'll be sure to share this vid to anyone that may face the same issue
This was a lot of fun to watch Amazing to see all the progress and I hope to make a year in game dev myself soon!! Been going all in my multiplayer game and working on networked splitscreen multiplayer. 26 days working on my lobby system so far (with a lot of inspiration from your SaW game like game tree, gui mgr, faction mgr, etc.) Waking up at 4 am is a good idea to stay consistent too, I'm inspired to try it to become more productive
@@guitargatekeeper awesome I'm glad you're still making progress and glad I could help! If you want to start waking up early maybe just start with 30 minutes daily at a more reasonable time like 6am and then add 30 mins when you feel it's right. Also writing out the tasks for the next day helps with deciding what to do once you wake up
Very good video! I'm trying to do the same thing, but using Panda3D with Qt and C++.
@@arthurhernandez5430 once you figure out the basic workflow you can do anything! It's just tough getting it working the first time
@travh98_ Thank you! Do you have any tips or links where I can start learning about the basic workflow?
@arthurhernandez5430 learnopengl.com/ is a helpful site
7:32 - 7:50 you are the goat for this lol
Great stuff as always! Also thanks for sharing the ref to the retargeting stuff. Seems interesting!
Your ideas all sounded cool to me. I'm still in the "not yet" phase of game dev. I bet you publish something pretty soon and it'll be fun, or not, but you'll have finished it. Solid video, very calming and oddly inspiring.
Good stuff man!
"Big bone balls" is a crazy thing to say
I had to divide into 4 block of 512x512 of peformace menace
I've never tried messing around with the clone tool in Gimp before, but it looks like it would've saved me a lot of headache the other day when I was trying to clean up some pavement textures. I ended up copying and pasting pieces of the cleaner blocks and feathering them over the dirty ones with the erase tool which took me longer than it should have, lol. Awesome tutorial, it's pretty easy to follow too. Thanks!
@@Dengar97 I used to use paint dot net and that's the same method I used. This clone tool seems like magic now!
Thanks kid..do a rehearsal first🙂
Is there any reason why you don't create a seperate game scene and put everything into the game_tree?
@@guitargatekeeper like having the map and entities on the server? The idea was to run the server headless so it wouldn't take a lot of processing power. Maybe having the server know about the map though would help with managing NPCs
thankyou manyou are a legend
I've been facing the same issue for a while but now I've finally figured out on to disable the armature ball shapes, this really helped me a lot thanks man!
This is amazing! I love the technical details, this will be of much use for my next project
thank you
lol I liked how you reused the dog robot and instead of a machine gun you turned it pacifist with a water hose
awesome project! I tried it myself and wanted to ask if its local multiplayer only? I've been looking for more godot networking tutorials but many of them don't reach the level of exporting for online while demonstrating with live players in different regions
@@zone_astra the project works online, I needed to port forward before others could join. I was playing with people across the country. Keep in mind there's no lag compensation
@@travh98_ that’s great, how can I replicate that myself? I’m still quite new to networking and if I can solve this problem I can apply it to my own game to show to others online
@@zone_astra First you'd need to port forward (the default is 25026 in the Server's enet_server.gd) - also make sure you're following good cybersecurity principles. Then you can build and run the server project on your computer, then have your friends and you run the Clients. Find your ip (you can google whats my ip) and type it in along with the port. They should be able to join then
@@travh98_ It worked! Thanks for your invaluable help. I'll try to see if i can find a safer method in the future for public sharing but this will greatly help my ability to share my work.
Do you have a git repo of all the code? This video is helping me so much and I just don't know where to start, I want my game to be in seperate projects too, I just dont know where to start, so I 'd like to see an example
I just added the repos to the video description, I hope they help!
@@travh98_you are a godsend dude... the client project won't load unfortunately... could you fix possibly?
@@guitargatekeeper that's my bad I forgot to public it, I can do it later tonight
@@travh98_ Thank you so much!!
@@guitargatekeeper It should be public now!
game looks amazing man great job! i'm trying to make a small 2d platformer arena game to play with friends, but i have no idea on how to make all this dedicated server thing work. i guess i just dont understand the very basics and there is a lack of tutorials for godot 4 about it 😞
@@lolliprop I feel you, making multiplayer was tough and I had to try and fail a lot. DevLogLogan has a really good multiplayer fps tutorial that helped me a lot
Also have the Color from the texture go into the Base Color as well, that makes it look better
I'm loving the leg animations. Cracks me up! Thanks for sharing this. I feel a bit overwhelmed by how to manage multiplayer syncing and this makes me a little better about it.
thank you bro
i love yuou
How do you keep both projects in sync? Did you write some custom tools/scripts for that?
@@ratnushock currently the server project only has a couple files and they're all code nodes for connecting the clients and managing the server game mode. All of the entities and art and levels are in the client project. I usually just have both projects up on each monitor. Now my issue is the server project doesn't know anything about the physical level so I'm not sure how to handle NPCs yet, if anyone has ideas let me know
I wanna play this game

Why don't you just send the generated seed to every client in order to generate the dungeons?
@@onokoreal great point, that would work too using less data. I think I wanted the server to also know all the tile locations in case they needed to spawn NPCs or items in the dungeon
Very nice
yo good video btw, but can you teach me how to give comms(voice chat) in godot dedicated server
