DIY: Beginner Balance Training
In this video, I describe how to build your own beginners, balance training obstacle. This is a mini balance beam. I’d typically like to have at least four of these that I can use for agility drills.
I align them in a single straight line as a balance beam or I align them like a ladder for precision, jumping… and there are many other ways of using them.
I use these with children as young as age 4, and I use them with adults as well for many of our balance training exercises.
This obstacle can be made simply by purchasing a 4 x 4 post at Home Depot along with some screws and making a few simple cuts before putting it together. Feel free to add paint and you make sure to send any rough edges.
For your cuts, make sure to cut your top side (balance beam) of the posts to a length of 4 feet and cut the feet to a length of 1 foot and you will need two of those.
You will then proceed to cut a 2 inch deep notch in the center of the foot post that is 3.5 inches wide that will receive the top “balance” 4 ft post.
I then recommend using four 3.5 inch screws to hold the feet to each end of the balance post.
Enjoy your training

      As it states in the title Andrew, we are reviewing how to get past certain roadblocks (weaknesses and fears) to help students improve lache technique. Please feel free to post a video of your “amazingness” doing a 10 ft lache to a cliffhanger so we can see how great your technique is. When you work as many students as we do and you see this pattern over and over - you will realize that 90% of people have these issues.

      No, kids like this need to get into the gym more often. Not go home, try to be a bit more of a kind person, as I’ve seen kids like this turn into pro ninjas after a few years.

    • @warriorplayground
      @warriorplayground 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No you are correct, that would be a boring clip to watch all 1000. Read the description and set your own goals. Start with 100 a day for a few weeks to see how that feels and then try it the way I did. It was not even that bad. I waited 35 years to even try it because in the back of my mind, no matter how fit I was, I thought it was not achievable - I was very wrong.

    What kind of iron pipe did you use? Did you have to finish or paint it? Thanks!

    • @warriorplayground
      @warriorplayground 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The specifics of steel tubing or “pipe” is not as important as the wall thickness for strength combined with the total length of pipe between supports. We typically use 1.5 OD up to 1.9. However small hands have a hard time holding. I would highly recommend max 1.5 if it is for kiddos to laches. If it is for supports and slipping obstacles onto the pipe 1.5-1.9 is great. Many use schedule 40 pipe

    Thank you for clarifying. Although there may seem like some differences in opinion on this subject, many experts have come to agree with the philosophy of training through various modalities and ROMs to help the knees to adapt and become more fortified against injury. This includes more extreme ranges, knees over toes, knee flexion with some rotation… simply check out the concepts by the knees of toes camp.

    Knee above the ankle

    • @warriorplayground
      @warriorplayground 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes our knees should always be above our ankles, that may be a strange malformation if they are below - lol But if you meant to say “in front of?” That too, is ok & is a good way to train through full range of motion.

    • @tavismacdonald7759
      @tavismacdonald7759 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @warriorplayground no when you're doing stuff like that or say lunges the knee stays above the ankle. It doesn't go past you can get injuries that way. At least I've read and heard that many times.
