So why is she not video tapped in her own house?

Looking 5 years now. So much deception in real estate marking. So much divsions of properties. Changing of price to buy the complete villa that was created to sustain the expenses of the villa. Is so sad to see the huge neglect of rual farms and ruins everywhere in France. Its is a survival skill to be there still looking for something that has been maintained without cheap ikea fitted kitchens and expensive marble bath rooms, while letting the exterior plaster walls are soaking and turning moldy and falling off the same house that they've installed a $5,000 marble bathroom in. There are greedy people in France that are not doing smart things with otherwise viable property. You got parked disappoints me I feel the immobilers are ruining everything.

This woman is excellent and so brave! I wish I could visit her or be her pen pal as we transition to France.

Hi there. I’m an American married for decades to a 🇫🇷 guy . We are looking at retiring at least half the year in France. I’m a retired lawyer & feel pretty confident when reviewing immigration matters. We are about a year away from making the decision, but are already looking at properties in 🇫🇷. I speak French probably at the B2 level on a good day, but the 3 hour dinners (!) wear me down, so I’m unsure. My husband (an optimist) says I’m 3 months away from being fluent if the 3 months are in France. I’d be interested in hiring you for the visa process- we have had the Livret de Famille forever from the DC Consulate, but I am concerned about two things in deciding whether it’s worth the effort: 1. How hard is the language test; & 2: While I have no major health issues, what is the health exam like for older applicants. Thanks.

Sounds like a wonderful apartment building. Do you think that type of community is typical or atypical? Also while I’m learning French I worry we might feel limited with regard to outings and attending events where if we don’t know French we might be lost or bored. Do you think it’s easy to participate in events, classes, etc where English may be spoken?

I’m ready to dip out of the US too. I’m just eating up all these videos to learn everything. I retired from military and pension just goes nowhere here, but returned to school with my GI Bill. I’d like to finish the degree (Art) but maybe I could transfer to France. Thank you for all the information!

We are in a similar situation - my husband is American and I have both US and EU passports and we are hoping to spend 5 months EACH YEAR in Nice. I am getting contradicting answers from the French Consulate in DC: my husband needs a long stay visa AND (as a spouse of the EU member) he does not need a visa for the 5 months. Do you know which one is correct? Did Sean's wife need a visa? Thank you!

We are joint British-Australians aged 73/75; resides in Australia since 1971 and receive an Australian Aged Pension, we would have enough to buy a modest home and have savings. I believe we would be applying for a Long Stay (Retirement) Visa. Apparently our Aged Pension does not meet Italian Embassy requirements. I believe France may be more lenient as far as the minimum income requirement?
