Hey pal, catching trout on a bait holder hook with crawlers ends up killing them. Dragging trout on the rocks. Tears their scales off= infected skin= dead fish! They aren’t as hard core as a salmon, especially in fresh water! If you fish without “barbless” hooks, you may as well keep and eat/ smoke them! Guys like you are probably okay aborting babies too! Even though these fish are technically hatchery fish, after 2-3 generations these fish that survive you are “ natives”! Don’t be greedy and hook and release, cause the release is deadly to them!

That derby was jacked up people bringing in freezer burn fish to win the derby stupid fish donkey app people couldn’t even tell by fresh fish from freezer burn fish. It just show this derby has a flaw anyone who wants to win go catch some big trout from another lake and keep it in the freezer for next derby and most likely you will win both big fish and 3 large fish category.
