What “viewer discretion “ buddy. You all are too soft. Show the lady falling already.
nah ihouse the best
Great vid, now I know what to prepare for.
Glad it helped!
At the peak you can see that storm clouds are moving in. Get off that mountain now.
The mistake was to continue the ascent when there were clouds gathering. Any remote sign there could be rain or adverse weather conditions, you are advised to not under any circumstances climb up half dome. It is not worth losing your life. You get amazing views for the sub dome anyway.
Looks so scary
Considering the hiker's continuing disregard for the dangers here the steel ladder needs to be removed. This will stop all further accidents and being struck by lighting.
All those clouds should have been a reason not to climb.
Glad you are OK. I could not imagine. Did this in 2011
Whoever decided on letting people climb the half-dome wasn’t right. It’s way too dangerous to climb. In my opinion.
Please... Telling an American "you can't climb that" is ABSOLUTELY a way to ensure MANY Americans climb it without permission. Tragic accidents sometimes happen when you experience the absolute beauty and wonder that is Yosemite. My heart BREAKS for this father... My own daughter is a sophomore (20) as CSU Colorado and if there's one thing I know for sure: If she had to choose, she'd choose to die out in the natural beauty of "the backcountry".
I have done this hike 3 times. It took me 4.5 hours to climb Asgard Pass. Perfection Lake was my favorite lake to camp at but boy the mosquitos were bad. There was a perfect sunset there but next day camping a thunder storm rolled in and that was an experience. My favorite hike in all of Washington State.
Asgard Pass was definitely exhausting! I'm not sure if I would do it again but it was definitely worth it when I went
I've done Yosemite, half dome twice, and this is a tragic event with few people on the cables in the right equipment, you should be able to descend in between 15 and 20 minutes. I see in video how People are descending forward, and that's not the way to do it You'll lean out at a 45° angle and walk down backwards. you, get better grip, and you can move faster. Hope everyone recovers quickly.
It would be prudent if those hiking the cables had the upper body strength to be able to fully hang on if footing is lost. That large girl that slipped had no chance. I'm not making fun, it's actually scary that she attempted such a difficult route. Unless you're a climber, it's probably a good idea to use prussian knot, helmet and check the forecast. You could even see the rain hours ahead and the storm clouds before attempting summit. Storms develop unexpectedly but planning ahead would help too. I'm glad you and your new friend stayed safe.
what app did you use to track the trail on your hike?
I used AllTrails. You can download offline maps with AllTrails+, super convenient!
I just watched the longoria guys video and then found yours and realized you were both on the samehike
Yep we went up the hike together- he documented a lot more on his video though!
Talk much?
Please respect and keep a healthy distance from wildlife. Mountain goats could mess you up if they wanted.
6:35 With ANY threat of rain AT ALL, you should not climb the cables.
I just read in the news a poor woman died because of a sudden lighting storm and fell off the slippery path. I wonder if using clips per section would help ensure people did not slide off? It's terrible that happens every year, you are lucky and I am glad no one as hurt that day!
Well thanks a million for advertising an all ready massively overcrowded place. Nice job.
😢
Wow, amazing. Glad everyone returned safely. Weather could be so unpredictable
Amazing video man but I will have top disagree with the doe library pick. Fell off in recent years lots of homeless, graffiti, and nasty smell. Please update
I went to cal from 2007-2011. Ate at all the dining commons. The new ones and the old ones like foothill. The quality of the food definitely looks like it has gone down and they’ve focused more on cheaper foods like salads and noodles etc. Back then we had Vietnamese pho. Chow fun. At foothill there was a food station where a guy stands there and you choose your items and he stir frys the spaghetti or pasta with mushrooms and meat etc. then afterward he lets you choose Alfredo or marinara sauce to put on it. There were burrito stations and unlimited guacamole. Sushi and cheesecake. As the cost of food goes up over time these dining halls I guess have to purchase less expensive items while maintaining a stable price for students.
Amazing story! Someone falls, people are struck by lightning, many are trapped and hailed on, and no one dies. 👏 Thanks for sharing.
music WAY too loud. Re-edit it and lower the music or just nix it completely. Can barely hear you

This is the cutest tour I've watched so far!! It's getting me so excited for my incoming freshman year. Thank you so much!!
Thanks! Wishing you the best at Cal!
the cables are not for the faint of heart. not sure where the "viewer discretion is advised" comes into play. safety comes into play knowing what's going to happen with the weather and avoiding it all together, not advancing cautiously. any chance of rain at all and you are absolutely slipping down without harness & biners. Gravity 1, climbers 0
Great job on a very tough hike!! Really great cinematography and editing on the video.
Thank you!
lmao
Where did you get your backpack?
I have a Gregory Paragon 58 Backpack! I got mine from REI-
Hawaiian pizza at Foothill? I'm THERE!!!! Well, too bad I already graduated. Anyway I never lived at Foothill but I lived almost as far from Southside (and non-EECS, non-chem classes) as Foothillers/LaLomers and I wouldn't say it's a hassle to get to other classes or have good food. Northside food court is close and, while not as varied as Southside offerings, has some pretty good Middle Eastern and Asian foods. Also there's a new Boba shop on Euclid/Hearst that opened up last year. IMO, living in Northside, even Foothill is worth it if you crave the quiet and nature, and if you want the nightlife/restaurants it's just ten mins, fifteen tops to Southside. Having said that, Cloyne and CZ have the occasional concert. BTW nice Cal poster to your right (the camera's left). What does it say?
👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Very nicely done video and great job on the hike!
Thank you!
Name of movie please ?
It's from the Netflix Avatar show!

beautiful arrangement! Love hearing the 4-5-3-6 chord progression in action. This must've taken so much work.
Thanks Daniel! Props to you for pointing out the chord progression 🤣🤣
Amazing!!!!
Thank you!
Which apartment you stayed ? Can you please recommend some places to stay for summer internship? Thank you!
Hi! So I actually had to do some apartment hunting but I got extremely lucky and lived with 4 UW guys in U District! I found them after posting on Facebook in a Seattle Housing Group :)
How long did you train for this hike and what did your training consist of? I'm planning to do it in the beginning of May with a couple friends. Great video btw!
Thanks Michael! I've been doing a lot of smaller hikes (5 miles, 10 miles) regularly, and have done longer hikes so this one didn't feel too bad in comparison. I would suggest doing smaller uphill training hikes before attempting this; make sure you're in shape, do regular cardio, and have the right gear! Remember it takes twice the amount of time going back up then it does down, so budget your time appropriately!
I finally found the video! I was the one recording you at the base of the dome before the climb! We were right above the person who first fell and luckily made it down safe.
oh my goodness, yes thanks for helping me record! I'm so glad we all got down safe!
nice vid!
Thank you!
As a man once said "Why don't you just pick the rock up and throw it?".
👏👏👏
Awesome work!
