Brian Meyers - Lean by Doing!
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 11 ต.ค. 2006
We are an American Manufacturer that specializes in Offroad parts and manufacturing solutions.
I started 20+ years ago out of my mom’s 20x20 garage; selling Jeep bumpers on eBay.
After a trip to Japan, I found my way down the lean rabbit hole. Searching led me to 2-second lean by Paul Akers. This book and my trip to Japan has pushed us to become a work class manufacturer.

Agree with Tom, great video and great job guys 💪
Amazing job. Great video!
Fantastic work by the team!!! Thanks for sharing Brian. Something to consider is once you have a plan/layout, physically hang it in the area. This gives teammates an opportunity to learn about the project, ask questions, and propose ideas. I've had great success every time I've done it.
Eric, this is a great suggestion. We’ll get it done!
FAM great videos 🎉🎉
N🧊
LFG GUYS!!!
Love it guys!
Hello Brian, Clear and concise expectations. You have actually made the life easy for your team by setting clear standards. Really inspiring!.
Very nice. Thanks for sharing. Great examples!
It was such a privilege to lead your meeting guys and you have a G.R.E.A.T. Process for preparing it!
What a speech!!!, I want to work with you!😃 Knowledge, passion and respect for people! With such a leader there are no limits to what you can achieve! This is what all leaders who are introducing lean should see and be inspired by! Paul Akers couldn't have done it better! Greetings from Sweden!
That is huge praise I don’t deserve! For sure Paul could have done this, if not better! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.
Inspiring video. Thanks for sharing. You guys are killing it!
Thanks Mike!
perfect scrubber🎉🎉🎉
What an insufferable prick. Guarantee you can't acquire and retain talent.
Nice work Brian! Thank you for sharing. Really nice job laying out your expectations while being respectful and fair. There was a lot to take away from this.
It's really great to get anyone on the same page, this is the first time in 21 years I've ever put this much time into a plan. It's already paying off, as coworkers are making decisions on if it aligns with goals or not.
0:18 As a public speaker it is your responsibility to restate the question for all to hear. The public speaker has the experience to project. The public speaker has the experience with audio and video capture. The public speaker knows how to keep information moving. I'm twenty seconds in. I do not work there... but I'm already plotting my move to your competition for the sole purpose of crushing you.
I’ve read this over a few times, trying to understand your feedback. Let me see if I got it? You are saying, I should restate questions, instead of asking them to come up and ask the question closer to my mic?
Really informative. Great job Brian, I learned so much.
When I do this, we wear pedometers to track the steps. Thanks for sharing.
One of my coworkers is bring one of those rolling wheel tape measures. I’m going to roll it and do some math, I’ll share in my next video.
Absolutely AWESOME Brian and team!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks so much!
So exciting to see your awareness of waste and can’t wait to see the progress and after. You know what would be a wonderful addition? A spaghetti diagram…
I was thinking the next part could be on the pre-work needed for a kaizen project this size.
@ nice!
That little camera just brought us to the next level ❤
Or you could teach your kids the biggest lesson my parents ever taught me: Ya snooze, Ya lose lol
Not a bad way either.
Wow what an awesome video of lean in action. So many good ideas to put to use. Thanks so much for sharing!
We are just getting started!
Very cool. Tom’s a great guy.
Pro tip to add to this: Blow the party favor loudly multiple times prior to making pancakes. This way, you don't have to dirty a pot to keep pancakes warm! Everyone will be up!
Omg 😂
how about making a slope so chips can get washed away
You guys are killing it. Love this. I’m going to use some of these ideas in our shop.
That man is a super star
Darla Saurus Bends!! and baby.
This was fun 😂
holy smokes man how man Kanban did you make ? I'm making some of those bin covers right now as well . 3D printed
I need to do this pretty bad. You guys are doing a great job with all the little improvements.
Thanks Mike!
Great mod, although not really a mod as it was intended to be there. I think its called a ' pin wheel'. And i need one on my kaltenbach cold saw Nice bandsaw btw 👍
I like the idea. However, wouldn't it dull the blade over time? Your thoughts
That is a great point, we’ll keep an eye on that to see.
Good grief! Management can simply tell the workers to clean out the chips. It literally takes a mere 5 seconds
@@tymz-r-achangin too trivial the task.
We are building a culture around continuous improvement, engaging our employees to fix things that bug them and make their work easier and better. That means, management just telling them, isn’t necessary when they are free to change their work environment.
@@LeanbyDoing great approach. Hopefully every employee gets involved. Nothing like improving a task or a tool to evolve efficiency.
Nobody cared. They just plod along. You had the foresight to make the change no one knew they needed without you even realising yourself, not knowing before..
Nobody cared BEFORE we changed the culture. Empowering employees to make improvements and fix the things that bug them!
Good ideas and practice. Thanks, for sharing!
Good improvements. Thansk for sharing
Great job. All coming together and morning is definitely the time for 3S 👍
Favorite job I ever had was being a continuous improvement coordinator in the service department of a Freightliner dealership. Seeing a simple idea become a project and then seeing the results afterward gave me so much satisfaction. Keep up the good work and 5S on!
This seems like an eternity ago! 2 months!!!! Love you guys.
Stellar labeling, what is the source?
We have the tools to make stickers internally. If you need help, reach out. Brian@jcr.us
How long until just in time, manufacturing is put in place?
JIT focuses on one real area, reduction of inventory. Lean is more of an all encompassing holistic approach that focuses all part of the business.
Awesome. Thanak so much for sharing some great practical ideas in here! BTW where did you get the totes with dividers? TIA
Thanks for watching and for commenting! A lot of those things are made by us. We are planning to sell most of it through fat American mfg. Feel free to email me, brian@jcr.us.
