Orthopedic surgeons love these replacements. Rarely are the recepeants "normal" again.
How many people here got a hip replacement after taking the covid shot
Well done young lady. I’m gonna be 73 and probably next year February 2025. I’m gonna probably have to have my left hip replaced. I have both knees replaced already so I know all about the helper strap and things that need to be done my biggest concern would be. I am more of a side sleeper and I suppose if I knock myself out with pain pills I could probably sleep on my back through the night plus, I also use the CPAP machine so I have very severe arthritis and very achy joint in my left hip. I take Voltaren to help with the anti-inflammatory properties and that does seem to help after about five hours. The left hip feel somewhat normal but looking forward to getting my left hip replaced and getting mobility back andlooking to be pain-free. Thank you for this video.
Wow, you have a lot on your plate and on your way to being fully bionic! The good news is I hear that hip surgery is easier than knee surgery! Also, maybe you can sleep on your opposite side from surgery (pending the doctor's OK). That might give you some relief from back sleeping. I tend to roll back and forth through the night, trying to stay on my back but constantly rolling to the side. Wishing you all the best!
Thank you, Cheri. Yeah I’m just trying to limb through until probably February of next year. My wife has a few issues with the surgery on her ankle and her knee and when she gets a mobile and can drive a car then I’m probably gonna make an appointment to have my left hip replaced. Great video and congratulations on the enormity of your success. Sounds like you had a great support team with your family there. God bless.Gerry.
I'm in my 20s and have to go in for a THR tomorrow morning. It's been very helpful finding videos like this that have helped me to feel a little less afraid of going through this procedure. Thank you for sharing and massive congrats on your recovery 🎉❤
Wishing you all the best. You’re young so I hope your recovery is super easy!! Lmk how it goes 🙏🏼
You might have a janky hip, but you have beautiful feet.
Thanks for sharing your experience. In a few days I am going for my left hip replacement surgery and your video showed me a lot about what to expect and possibly to overcome. 77 years old and so much to do! Thanks indeed!
Sending prayers & luck to you! LMK how it goes!
Sherri, Sherri Baby!!! You are an inspiration and motivation. I am 10 days post anterior hip replacement and this is just what I needed to see. I haven't watched the entire video but I have saved it in my Inspriation folder. You grabbed me with your introduction and all that you went through and tried all the way up to the injections...and when those stopped working the replacement was the last. Of course just about everyone I know who have had the same done are happy as can be and back enjoying their lifestyle. You with your grandkids is the one that grabbed me. Thank you so much for creating this movie for us all to learn from. Happy Trails!!
Congratulations on your new hip! Hope you will love it as much as I do. Keep up the physical therapy. Forever! 😜
LOVE AND GRATITUDE FOR SHARING XX IM 12 DAYS IN FROM SURGERY YOU HAVE GIVE ME MORE INFORMATION ON EXERCISING THAN THE HOSPITAL XX LOVE FROM LIVERPOOL UK
Sending 🙏🏼 for a great recovery! Do physical therapy slow and steady -and forever! Now five years later, I still have to walk and exercise regularly to keep my hip from tightening up.
Thank you for the encouragement! I am having mine Dec 23,2024. I am anxious but I am in so much pain now I do not worry about it.
@@theresafields4296 Sounds like a special holiday gift for yourself! 🎁I hope it will change your life in a good way as it has mine! Wishing you all the best 🙏🏼
Thank you for your video! I'm going to have both done in a few months (I guess they do they two weeks apart my Dr said) and am terrified as I am only 43- the walk you had before surgery? I see a lot of my own gait in you- same thing- hip dysplasia as well but I also have RA too. I'm bone on bone but I just thought it was RA pain and impingement so never went to the Dr for it- I was there getting shots in my knee's as that hurt and something I said prompted him to tell me wanted to get xrays of my hips and the positions they had me get in for the xrays was so painful I immediatly knew "this is it" before I even heard the results. I'm glad to see you doing so much better!
Glad the video helps you. Please do come back and LMK how your surgery goes! Sending 🙏🏼!
Finally a realistic story of a hip replacement. Most of the TH-cam vids I am seeing are people walking normally in about a week. No way! I’m on day 6 and it’s very painful. I ice all day off and on 20 minutes. In a recliner all day with various assisted walks around room. Doing this alone at 78. Today was harder than yesterday. This going to take some time.
Sorry you’re still in pain. I had a lot more than I had expected. Just checked my diary and it says day 12 was my first good day where I felt real progress. Hope yours is sooner than that. DIARY: DAY 12. Woke up with NO HEADACHE for first time in a week! Hallelujah! First day feeling like I should be feeling!? No headache, energy to walk, exercise, do paperwork… Great day.
Getting ready to do my hip here in two weeks thanks for doing the video. Makes me feel a little bit more comfortable knowing what to expect and I love the door in your living room. That’s pretty cool.
Wishing all the best for your upcoming surgery!! 🙏🏼 p.s. My husband made that barn door in one weekend! He's amazing :)

Yeah it was nice to have a husband
I really want to read all the comments, too. Thank you for this. Mine is about 2 weeks off.
@@MB-he2ey Excited for you and your new hip! Sending 🙏🏼
Great video - thanks a lot for making it! This was informative as well as being inspirational. I need HR surgery asap but I've been too scared to schedule it. Thanks for showing your progress throughout (iow, the before, & after + the exercises), it's so very helpful & gives me courage to go through with this operation; (I think I now might be able to do it now..). Tomorrow, I'm going to show your video to my husband; I know he'll like it too.
Glad it helped. Almost every day, my husband and I comment how wonderful it is to have pain-free walking back in my life! Wishing you the best!
Hi how soon you got to drive w your right leg??
Since my surgery was on my right driving leg, the doctor said to wait until I could easily lift the leg for a quick braking response. My diary says: Day 42. Surgery was 6 weeks ago today. DROVE TODAY! Probably could have driven at 4 or 5 weeks (sooner for L leggers), but hubby was nervous since I still can’t lift my R leg strongly from a sitting position. But we found when driving, I don’t lift my leg-just my foot back and forth on pedals! Yay! Walking easily, but achy if I overdo it. Thigh is still a little tingly, tender here and there…
I had my right hip replaced 2yrs ago Monday October 28th 2024 I'll have my left one replaced
Sending you best wishes on your second new hip!! 🙏🏼
@SherrisWorld thank you God bless you 🙏
Can this be done in Nigeria
I don’t know. Check with your doctors!
Awesome video diary Sherri. I’m on my 3rd week post op and other than lack of sleep, recovery is going well! You’re a superwoman and an inspiration to us recovering. Thank you for sharing your incredible recovery ❤️🩹
Thank you so much for this video. I am waiting for my surgery and little nervous but your video is very helpful. BIG THANK YOU! God Bless you!
I'm 52 yrs.old had hip dysplasia since birth wear braces then found out I have a mild case of occult spina biffuta so I am not sure what to have done
What do your doctors recommend?
@@SherrisWorld one Dr.told me he wanted me sign awavier in case it didn't work
@@ShannonWoods-h3wMy surgeon also told me that it wasn’t guaranteed to solve my pain problems. But it did. Did you get second opinion?
Really helpful. Thanks.
My Wonderful Husband is scheduled to have his right hip replacement next March 2025. At that time he will be 65 and we have plans to cruise in the end of June 2025, please share your rates of recovery periods and tips to enhance complete recovery
My diary says at 3+ mos..... walking 2 mi or biking 3-6 daily. Putting on right shoe and sock still difficult but doable. Still pain lifting knee to head. New pain in quad groin area-Nerves returning! Feels like slight pulled muscle. Best of luck to him and have a great cruise -- where are you cruising?
Due to my Rheumatoid Arthritis since age 20, I’m 51 now, I had 4 joint replacement surgeries from ages 45-49. In order: R knee 11/2019,L hip 3/2021, L knee 11/2022, and R hip 3/2023. The knees were probably the hardest to get through. Pain was brutal and PT those first few weeks were 😓. Hips, easy recovery. By 8 weeks I was back to yoga and by 12 weeks back to Pilates.
Wow that’s a lot of surgeries! You’re truly a Bionic Being!! Yes, I’ve always heard the knees were tougher. Thank you for sharing your story 😄
You are awesome thank you for making this video ❤me soon I can’t sleep hopefully November 2024 operation
You got this! Please do lmk how you do!! 🙏🏼
I’m going thru same pain see doctor end of the month ugggg
Absolutely Amazing! Thank You!
Did you have any problems after 7 months. Everything was going good until my 7th month and now I can't lift my leg straight up, anybody else had this problem,
I am 5 years post-op and occasionally have pain in my hip flexor muscle/tendons. Xrays have shown my titanium joint is fine, but I seem to have chronic tendon issues there from 10 years of irritation, I suppose. Here is my 1 year diary entry: One year check up. Full X-ray set. Looks good; come back 2-3 years for xrays. Knee stopped hurting at about 10-11 months. Started PT again and it's helping. Still slight pain & lack of strength in hip joint. Can finally start reaching all toes. Sleeping great no pain.
Thank you thank you thank you so much for this video. I just discovered it today, however I'm 5 months post-op. I am seeing my journey all over again and realizing now how much progress we both made so quickly. Thank you for taking us on such an amazing journey and recap of how things were and I can very much appreciate the progress that we have both made. Realizing now that yes, it was painful at times, but it wasn't as bad as before the surgery.
Thanks for watching ...and glad your surgery is also behind you! I'm hoping to do a 5 year follow up video soon. Stay tuned :)

Sorry it’s a little private question. But I imagine husband can’t sleep with me in one bed after surgery?
Thank you for the video, some similarities to my own replacement however it doesn't look like anyone had posterior like me. Not sure why, I'm fit, not overweight etc. anyway 8 days and I can walk unassisted for short walks but still use cane and a walker occasionally for comfort 😅
@@Kelly-j2j3j Congrats! Sounds like your healing and doing it more quickly than I did! I believe doctors are trained in either posterior or anterior (newer method) so maybe it depends on the doctor in your health plan. There are a few who can do both methods I suppose.
One year post op. Hip feels ok but numbness on outside upper thigh, lower ankle and top of foot. Anyone else have this problem? Think he nicked a nerve and at this point will be permanent.
Remember, everyone is differnt, buy here are my 1 year doctor follow-up appt notes: Full X-ray set. Looks good; come back 2-3 years for xrays. Knee stopped hurting at about 10-11 months. Started up for more physical therapy. Still slight pain & lack of strength in hip joint. Can finally start reaching all toes.
thank you sooooo much for your video, i am facing two hip replacements, your video is so encouraging and detailed, thanks again for sharing your journey on video.
Glad it helped. Wishing you all the best on your hip replacements!

I get my hip replaced on the 16th of this month,so i do a lot of limping, one of my cats thinks it funny and decided to mimic me by limping just like me ,even the same side hahaha! It was the funniest thing I've ever seen❤😅😅
@@janetcoleman3366 Haha I’ve seen some video clips of animals mimicking their pawrent limping! So funny. Hope you’re limp-free soon! My physical therapist said I had to try hard NOT to limp since it was a long-time habit for me 🤪
Thankyou Sherry for sharing this
Thanks for sharing your journey as I am due to have a total hip replacement
Thank you for sharing. I'm 73 and was told in 2019 my hip needed to be replaced. I have osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis and my right knee and right shoulder has been replaced. October 9th for the left hip (anterior). I exercise 1 1/2 hours a day 4 days a week. I also walk 4 miles everyday day now (up from 2) that I'm going into surgery. It is so painful. I hope all my work will make recovery easier for me ... and my wife!
