Nice video, looking forward to seeing new content with the equipment you posted on reddit.
Is joining the union apprenticeship program a good way to get started? Is 31yrs old too late too start? I'm planning on going down the road to a garage that needs help but I don't mind travel and I truly want to pursue this. I've done soldering in HVAC for a couple years, its residential and I'm sick of the 1 on 1 contact with homeowners and selling units. Is it hard to get accepted to the union in the apprentice program as a welder with no experience? I assume I need to just start getting at it just to hone the craft? I've put my application in but no response yet. Thanks for the video!
@@waxnn I can’t really speak to union and apprenticeship since I’ve never been involved in a union and I live in FL which is a notoriously anti union state. Though it sounds like it would be a good idea for you! Funny enough I got a job as an instructor at a welding school. I’ll be making a video about it soon so stay posted. Good luck with your pursuit of welding, no matter what happens just don’t give up and you’ll make it. 31 is definitely not too old.

I’ve been riding since 7 years old. I’m 48 now. I would never recommend anything lower than what you have in terms of HP for a first bike. The power is your defense on the road. It helps you steer clear of bad drivers and even corrects misjudgments while cornering 💯
@@Thadopeera great perspective
Nice video👍 editing is good too starting to get a bit nippy for bike rides and beach trips enjoy them before the winter hits 👊🏻
Bro how could you forget know it all who thinks everyone is beneath them.
Its not really a "600" if you watch this bike drag race a supersport 600 it gets smoked. Not saying its slow. But a supersport is a whole other animal
well it’s not made for drag racing it’s better on turns on a track or backroads
This video is exactly what I was looking for. Too many times people with tell you not to go with anything above a 400. Proving them wrong safely lol. I’m getting a 660 as my first bike too
@@ajfrom7189 over 7k miles now, still loving it
I agree with that, I've been looking around for about almost a year before I get back on a motorcycle. I saw a Aprilia motorcycle down at the Galveston motorcycle event last year. And fell in love with it, more over that Kawasaki 650.
I've tested this bike with mivv exhaust... Perfect bike but not for me ;-( I am 5ft9 (175cm) I can't step flat on the ground...
15:52 that's for all bikes really. some bikes can lock the rear but it's not gonna help you stop. It's really the front brakes doing work.
Literally any motorcycle can be a good beginner motorcycle. It all comes down to your brain power. If you aren’t so bright and you often do stupid shit then maybe get a 50cc moped. If you have at least a rudimentary understanding of physics and you’re not a complete moron, you can even start on an H2. I’ve owned relatively powerful motorcycles, R1 and MT-10, neither of these bikes did anything I didn’t tell it to do. They also aren’t gonna just flip and drop you on your head if you hit the gas a little hard. Sure, if you go full t@rd you can loop it. Don’t go full t@rd. Never go full t@rd!! Bad things will happen.

Hey I’m almost 20 I’m in my 2nd year of my engineering degree, but rn it really seems like I’m paying for debt and getting mediocre education. The amount of time put into hw alone I could have made 20k by now. I’ve done hs welding shop I have my osha card, Ik I’ll probally have to go to school for it to touchup and certs. But I’m still on the fence with the pay/ labor ratio when accounting for going to travel for like a couple months. I don’t wanna kill my love for the automotive hobby I have. Advice, tips experiences, regrets any advice is welcome. You recommend hvac over it? My hobby welding is different but idk if caging and frame cutouts count
@@skaterboi8922 well you’re still young, and I’d say an engineering degree is never a bad thing. But if you’re interested in automotive fabrication and welding you should give it a shot. I teach welding now at a vocational school and am also pursuing my CWI. Hvac is not a bad career path either but I’d much rather be a welder 🔥
Couldn't agree more. 6k miles on my RS 660 this month. Best purchase I've made in a long time.
Bro how is it? Just finished my msf and dmv written going to the dealer to buy one later today ! It’s an extrema 24 but the first thing I wanna do is go from la to my good childhood buddies house in Georgia 2500+ miles . After watching the whole thing ill say you have some very good points but alot of them are bases on oersonal experience and thats not fair to everyone. Especially after saying you dont speak in absolutes. My dispensary is full of usually older men and women who own businesses in my area.
@@AnimeFever121 thanks for watching the video. Yes this is just my opinion based on my personal experiences. I’m still not smoking weed and I couldn’t be happier with my decision.
@@The_Man_Welding That is a respectable decision! It takes strength to walk away from something, it takes true will power to walk away from something you don't really want to walk away from. I respect that!
The first 5 minutes explain how both you and weed were to young and still developing.
How much did you pay out the door?
it was around $13,500 with a lifetime battery warranty, some gloves, tax tag and title.
Good shit, thanks for sharing. I'll add to it: I used to be addicted to heroin for 10 years or so. One day I just decided to quit, so I did--cold turkey. I had to literally cut off every single person I knew (except my immediate family, of course). All of my friends were toxic and detrimental to my sobriety, so I had to leave them behind. Idle time is your #1 enemy. You have to have a reason for quitting in the first place, something you can cling onto and never look back. You have to quit because you want to quit, not because other people want you to quit. I prayed to God as I hit an absolute rock bottom, and begged Him to give me something to fight for so I could leave that life behind. Next thing you know... I bootstrapped a startup, and i worked my ass off on it. Literally putting in 36-48hr days multiple days/week. I'm basically retired now at 38. The company is still going strong. It took me over 3-4 months just to come up with the name of the company. I had a whiteboard and went HAM on the business plan, the entire business model, etc. I became obsessed. I disagree with people that "count the days" of their sobriety. It's like you're subconsciously not able to let go. I couldn't tell you when I quit, but it was some time around 2014 lol. I have no desire to ever do that shit again. Anyway, the loneliness factor you're describing is basically a symptom of idle time. Keep yourself busy, pick up new hobbies, and be careful with the new people you meet. Virtually every new acquaintance I'd meet started out cool, then I'd eventually learn they were either drug dealers or were doing drugs to an excessive degree. No bueno. You always want to stay tf away from any sort of clubbing or party scene as that's a recipe for disaster and you'll relapse with the quickess. I never went to rehab, never relapsed, etc, because I made my mind up the day I quit. I was tired of being a slave to the drug, my entire life revolved around getting high and waiting in parking lots for hours. The repeat cycle, downward spiral into oblivion was insane. I was stuck in a loop that gradually got worse as time progressed. I was a highly "functional addict" and hardly anyone knew about my addiction. Like you mentioned, another reason is people don't want to deal with the emotions that begin to bubble up to the surface once you become sober. You can no longer hide from them, you can't bury and suppress them by your substance of choice. Depending on people's life experience, this can be difficult to deal with initially. This is why you need to keep yourself busy. Find some heavy interests and passions and submerge yourself in them. You'll eventually replace your destructive habits with more productive ones over time. I disagree with the entire AA philosophy and that's how a lot of drug addicts network with each other, same with rehab places. I know from seeing many of my friends go in and out of those places for years, only to have a larger network of contacts than they had prior to entering rehab. My ex gf was on Suboxone for years and years. It just replaced heroin for her. Saw the same thing with people getting methadone. They are taken advantage of and gaslit by Big Pharma thinking that they're getting sober when in reality they're replacing a street drug with a pharmaceutical grade, synthetic variant of opioids. Most of us started on OxyContin anyway. If you truly want to be sober, it's as simple as just deciding to quit, but, again, you need something to fight for, you need a reason as to why you're quitting.
@@hodlwise2470 I appreciate you taking the time to watch my video and leave your comment. You obviously know what you’re talking about and I agree with your points. I’m proud of you man 👊🏼 keep it up
@@The_Man_Welding You as well, man. It's not easy to leave a lifestyle of addiction. Takes a lot of will power. Unfortunately, a lot of people get trapped into the world of addiction. I'm proud of you for kicking your habit(s) and wish nothing but the best for you. I'm about to buy an Aprilia RS660 as my first bike, too. It's how I found your channel. Ride safe, my dude. God bless 🙏
This may be controversial, but maybe not here. Once I quit weed for a good year and got involved with my friends who smoke again, they tried to push it harder on me than I smoked. I swear it’s a “demon” that gets passed around. Like “uh huh, YOU don’t need it?” to prove their use is acceptable. Then whenever I fall back into the cycle, guess what they quit or start saying “I’m trying to smoke less.” It’s an uncanny thing that repeats itself in newer friend groups, too. I think this observation can be applied to many other things, good or bad, in life. Crabs in a bucket…
@@cameron.t yeah man. Fuck that shit life’s better without it 👊🏼
Was it hard to drag it outta there? Did you manage to do it yourself?

Your story sounds very similar to mine. I was looking for a motorcycle to upgrade from my cbr500r that I been riding for the past 11 years. Great bike going to work. .I wanted a major upgrade and was comparing the HORSEPOWER to price. Suzuki 8r, Ninja ZX6r, and then the Aprilia RS 660. The Aprilia dealership was close to my job. .and they gave me an offer I couldn't refuse. I did my research for about 4 months, seen all 3 bikes up close and personal. .talked to the appropriate salesman. Almost got the Suzuki 8r. .but the Aprilia's horsepower for SAME price beat it. The aprilia may be an Italian bike. .but I'm Portuguese. .and I'm sticker decal'n it to have a Portuguese theme. Portuguese flag, christian cross, etc. btw. .my aprilia has the exact color scheme as yours. Great choice. .not too flashy. .but the style does stand out. I get more guys admiring it as opposed to women. .what's up with that. lol
Great thumbnail. It pulled me in

That is beautiful when will you upload the video from the lake today me and my brother asked you about it
Ill probably have it posted this weekend
Ok I am really excited to see more of your adventures
Generally speaking, starting on lower CC motorcycle is beneficial for the rider's confidence and ability in the long run as it allows the rider to push the bike and experience the limits with larger margin of error. As you said yourself, second-hand market for motorcycles are still very high. You should have bought a smaller cc bike to learn on for year or two and upgraded. Since bikes like the Ninja400 are always in demand, you could have bought new, used it for a year and still recoup most of your money 🤷♂ Judging by the video, it appears you have already dropped the bike (broken lever) that's something that could have been avoided by practicing on lower cc bike.
Yes I did drop the bike, a little scratch and broken lever. No big deal to me. I love the bike and I'm definitely happy I choose the RS660 over a smaller displacement bike!
so you give up weed but ride around speeding without motorcycle gear on? okay bro
Precisely 👌🏼
How tall are you? I’m looking at getting one of these and I’m pretty short.
I’m 5’9” and I definitely think someone a few inches shorter wouldn’t have much trouble. I can alllmost flat foot it at red lights but not quite.
Wait... Are you trying to say that in the US they are letting you on the streets without proper course and even a fucking exam? You need at the very least several weeks of training and passing government exam to be running any vehicle save from a 50cm scooter, that can do 45km/h. No wonder the guys at the shop were hesitant. You run your courses and exams on a an MT07 or SV650 where I live.
I took the 3 day MSF course prior to purchasing this bike. That was my only motorcycle experience ever. The test drive was literally my first time riding on the street. USA Baby 😎
@The_Man_Welding I'm planning to buy a Tuono 660 Factory for my first, but except of a mandatory course (20 hours of rides in traffic with the instructor, afteryou prove you've mastered the manouvering) , and an exam (you have two parts: traffic laws and practical) I also plan to take some track courses before I dare to drive a motorcycle. I wonder how it's even legal to drive a motorcycle after a 3 day course. What does your motorcycle driving license exam look like?
Thanks for the video I really appreciate it and first thing I must say is stay safe witch I think you are on track with that... I do agree with new riders that you should see if that bike fits you and you can respect it foremost... because most of the time your gonna out grow it very fast now you gotta find a buyer...you did it right now you can Bond with your bike and in joy it for a few years... and Yes that is one reason for watching your video I'm thinking about buying one also I love Aprilia they are spot on on their bikes.. probably one of the best handling bikes you can find for track and road....and they are sexy as hell my girl is already jealous but she is looking also at Aprilia..... keep posting video's they don't have anything like your video online..... thanks again for your video I'm gonna look for one more to watch before I Head out to make some Cash...
Appreciate your feedback!!!

Great video man. I stumbled across the aprilia video because i was looking for a future bike. Funny enough when you said orlando i laughed because I live in New Smyrna. Even funnier Psoriasis covers probably 1/4 or so of my body and you nailed the substance abuse, insecurity and topicals not working. Salt water, sunshine and good diet help me pretty well.
Appreciate you checking out the videos. Have fun getting a bike, ride safe, and keep your head up homie 👊🏼
What trades do you believe are better?
HVAC, plumbing, or electrical would be worth pursuing. I say this because literally every building requires those. So the ability to find “side work” is high and usually profitable and easy once you know what you’re doing.
Dad just got this bike and it’s what I’m learning on. If you respect the bike imo it’s fine to learn on especially with all the tech.
It’s been a great first bike for me
