Nektar's Derek Moore How We Conquered the US Music Charts

Back in the early 70's Nektar took the trip across the pond to try their luck at breaking the American market and found an audience ready and willing to embrace their talents this came as much of a shock to the band as it did to the management but within a short space of time Nektar were playing to 10,000 plus audiences in territory across the USA. I'd like to see a live Firm DVD
I’ve seen Don play guitar a few times. He’s really good. I never knew why he didn’t play in Dokken once they got big. I’d say he was actually better than George.
Yeah blaze I love his out look in the experience and how he didn’t get salty because of all the assclowns out there!
Damn shame because Return to the East sounds and looks great..you'd think they killed it but apparently not to Don's liking
A hugely entertaining watch and listen.
glad you enjoyed it , great man very genuine and humble very entertaining as well
Awesome drummer. 1/4 of Quo.
I shook his hand and got his autograph in 1977 ( ish ) waiting out the front of the hotel where the band stayed in Adelaide . I was 15 years old. Same year I got one of Johns sticks after the concert. Had his name on it. Unfortunately gone now. Only two people from my youth who would have stolen it. I played in bands with both. Ones passed now and the other had his own demons. Life. 🙂
@@wingchun-simplekungfu7584 😂👍🎸
This is a few years old as he's speaking about gigs with JCQ.
@@steveclem we did it last year r
Blaze is the man, shame on all those who have disrespected him.
He is a great man, very humble down to earth just loves the music loves the fans all round top man
And Brian Downey
John could play a shuffle and swing like no one else - he was fundamental to the heads-down no nonsense boogie that Quo defined! 🥁👍
Nice camera work lol
@@jayevergreen-t9n so glad you liked it , it always means a great deal that the attention to quality and detail has been appreciated I will let Don know 👍🎸
I’ve been looking for live sets with blaze I’ve seen santiago X factor concerts where some clown almost gets killed by blaze an Steve and I saw the bueno Aries show it was the last of the virtual XI TOUR THAT WAS A GREAT SHOW! I love those two Maiden albums especially X factors for its more dark themes.
That’s so awesome lol
Now we know why Don can’t sing anymore. Last five seconds of the clip😢
Bon is the correct choice.
I know what Don is going through in a way because my situation is similar but different so let me explain I'm recovering from wrist drop that's when you sleep wrong and it causes nerve damage but it will heal but it takes 3 to 4 months and it sucks, one day I woke up at 4:30 am and practice my guitar and has a good practice so I decided to record some stuff for my sister and friends then I took a break did some yard work and barbecued my dinner early and I was getting tired so I recharged my battery with a nap and 30 minutes later my hand was numb and I that in a few minutes it would be fine well that turned into 30 60 and 90 minutes later nothing changed my arm was numb like I was having a stroke I go into ER they ran test then told me what was going on, ok then what they told me how long ,so I understand what Don's going in a way but it fkn sucks it was my left hand the fret hand so if you read the Don there's a brace to help I need surgery on my back but not going to get it now my wife had a similar surgery and she's stuck on the couch she can't do shit she is lazy but now she's got an excuse 😅 but try that brace the injury is called wrist drop TH-cam has videos from doctors that are on that issue so take care Don I can see the pain in your eyes you've been on of my favorite singers but taking a man's guitar that's fkd. I'd say it differently but I don't want to get kicked off you tube again take care Don I'll be ROCKIN WITH DOKKEN ALWAYS
Thank you Tim , fantastic interview, you were super prepared for this, love it, I love Richie, and his story, obviously a gift from God. Everytime I work on one of my guitars downstairs near the computer, I put on a playlist and I have Winery stuff, his solo stuff, and Smith/Kotzen........Him , and Dirty Honey and Dead Daisies are my go to. Thanks for a fantastic interview
@@Clayton-t5i 😀thank you glad you enjoyed it and yes Richie is a great guy just down to earth and normal hopefully we will talk again next year sometime about the upcoming projects 🎸🎸
Dokken is still an important part of my daily music listening experience.
Dr. Death
I love and admire his honesty
Healey's cover to cover album remains one of my favourites and his cover of While My Guitar Gently Weeps is the best version by far.
What got Richie first using Tech21? They truly are a wonderful company. I just ordered yesterday Richie's RK5 V2 from them. Excited to plug into it and try it out. 😊
Love Don Dokken❤
Top 10 guitarist.
Thank you for this great interview with Clem Clempson. Being a huge Marriott fan, I have read his 3 biographies, plus the memoirs of Frampton, Shirley, Kenney Jones & Ian MacLagan. Clem & Greg Ridley strories were missed. Sadly we will never hear from Greg, but it was a delight to hear Clem's side of the story. Since I am a lover of blues/rock, i always felt Clem's playing was as good if not preferable to Peter's - though I do greatly admire Peter. My favorite Humble Pie song (from Smokin) with Clem's unbelievable soulful solo is "I Wonder". Just beautiful. I do enjoy hearing and reading rock history, especially 1965-1975 British rock as I feel this was almost a Renaissance time of music, such an explosion of talent. I have subscribed and look forward to more classic rock stories .
@@cindyfalstrom7231 thanks Cindy glad you enjoyed it check out the website as well theclassicrockpodcast.com there’s lots of interesting interviews and features enjoy 😀🎸🎸
I always remember being round Jerry Shirley's brothers cottage (Angus - RIP - God Bless him !) near Naezing Essex, way back in 1970 - smokin really good powerful puff. As I left - a Silver Bentley pulled into the driveway & Jerry + Greg Ridley emerged - both grinning & wearing full lenght coats & floppy hats - Lol ! Jerry said to me " Is Angus home" ? I relied - "Well, he may be physically - I don't know bout the rest " Those were beautiful days back then.
@@mickymantle3233 love it 🎸 great tales from bygone era we should all have long coats floppy hats and of course a silver Bentley with a cocktail cabinet in of course
@@theclassicrockshowX Yep ! Real Rock star halcyon days ! Humble Pie - especially in the early days - really lived that life to the full. Memories filled with Patchouli & the odour of Nepalese Temple Balls !
@ 😂 love a bit of Pachouli
great show mate im glad yt recommended your channel and new subscriber i look forward to see more of your content.
Roger Hodgson was in the Soulmates? What year was that. I know John, Jesse and Mark (Hart) have been in it but Roger?
to be honest you would have to ask Leslie Roger's name was on the list of former players
Great interview!
Put away the cigarettes and drink some tea with honey.
I was there, at the Glasgow Apollo. Anvil were better than Motorhead that night. If I remember correctly, no one recognised the new Motorhead songs, as the album wasn't out yet - and Robbo refused to play the classics.
@@GordonHeaney nice story 😀🎸🎸
I have seen photos of Samantha & her band and of the guitar Samantha smashed at the end of the show. Must have been a fun night!
One of a kind
Samantha is a class act! I appreciate her humbleness and her honesty and am in awe of her work ethic! Always great live show! And for this "old school" guitar player, she is the real deal!
Richie is a Phenomenal guitarist/singer/songwriter/performer/musician!!
