Richmond Valley Meats Thick BBQ Sausages
I'm glad you found a butcher that makes snags like those of your younger days, another very enjoyable to watch video as always, thanks for entertaining me mate.
Generally speaking fat snags are 5 to the pound and fountain tom sauce is the one; possibly rosella.
It’s funny how some people fold the bread into a rectangle when having sausages and others fold their bread into a triangle.. myself I always fold my bread into a triangle when having sausages for some reason it tastes better for me even though we all know it makes no difference in taste 😂
I like to save the top edge of the slice for last so the rectangle is the best way to go for me.
@shaggytrails777 hi shaggy on your next sausage review it would be much appreciated if you could fold one of your slices of bread into a triangle when having a sausage just to satisfy my needs 🤣🌭
I think I love bangers nearly as much as you do. Like you, I've been chasing that old school snag we had growing up. When you were cooking them, I'm thinking, they're going to be good. They just had that look about them. I'm so glad they were what you were chasing! Can't wait for bacon videos. Like, seriously, who doesn't love bacon? If you get the chance, try Trunkey Creek bacon (or ham). YUM YUM YUM! It's not cheap, but boy it's good.
Never heard of Trunkey Creek, but I will ask google about it. The snags were really great.
@@shaggytrails777 Trunkey Creek is about 45 minutes south of Bathurst, in the Central West. There is a farm there that raises and produces their own pork products. It's seriously good. I know you can get it in different locations, but not sure if it would be as far north as you. If you have a Harris Farm market near you, they could have it. If not, if you even make it down to the Central West, I'll make sure you get some, as there is a shop about 6 minutes walk from my house.
Really do enjoy your videos thanks for a great year if your ever in Melbourne I,d love to have you around and do a cook up a few beers will look after you Look forward to your next video
Thanks for being a regular watcher Spiro! Long day at work today, not really up to making a video tonight. Hopefully will get something up before the weekend. But not promising!
When I was a kid my mum worked for Len Lee Butchers in mt yoking Perth wa and I used to help Len make sausages great memories
So you are a big fan of the old school snags?
Great work and great video Shaggy. Ill pop in one day to have a beer and bring a few snags from my local butcher. 👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed the video mate!
Michael Madsen Meats One of the great actors
Yep, they are great!
People who constantly comment whenever any 'hot' food is mentioned that 'its not really hot' or 'it used to be hotter' do my head in.
Chili heads are like Vegans, always have to let everyone know how much better they are.
Another great video. Cheers. Hope you have a lovely holiday season
Thanks MoonKnight, you too mate!
Great video Shaggy. You can never please everyone, just keep doing what your doing. I always enjoy your video's from meat pies, snags, camp cooking or your apple turnovers. I tried few butchers around my area and they don't do thick snags just gourmet flavoured snags.
Yeah, I am not a fan of the gourmet snags. Not saying there is anything wrong with them, just saying I like the plain snags.
@shaggytrails777 yeah lm the same. Plain snags are better. I used love going to the pub and having crumbed thick snags, chips and gravy.
@@Adventures_In_A_Ute Crumbed snags are grouse!
Question for the chef. Could you skin them and turn them into sausage rolls, (i.e. wrapped in puff pastry)?
Yes, you could. And the snag rolls would be nicer than if you bought sausage mince from Coles or Woolworths.
As always, great vid. I went to the butcher in the Mt Ommaney Shopping Centre and bought a kilo of their premiere beef snags. Only 7!! I haven't had a chance to try them but they'll probably come out at the Christmas morning family BBQ.
Wow! 7 to the kilo! Do they make plain snags that big too?
Keep doing the videos with the full cooking process Shaggy. 99.9% of us enjoy it 👍 Have a great night.
Thanks Bloke, I appreciate your feedback!
Nice one Shaggy! Im always chasing the biggest snag to mate😂 jokes. Yeh but it was like that growing up and even now I feel 👊
I think it was like that for everyone!
The Shagster returns with another banger! (or 12)
High plains banger!
Ya need to put up a top ten ladder at the end of each snag review to se if it is good or rubbish
But then I would have to work out scoring criteria to explain why each one ended up on the Top Gear board as it does. That would take all the fun out of everything!
As an apprentice back in 1980 , thick sausages were ment to be 9 to the kilo . Thin sausages were ment to be 12 to the kilo (Melbourne) and boy didn't your boss let you know if you didn't come close !!
And that is exactly how it should be. 1 kilo of bangers equals 3 links equals 9 bangers, no need to weigh it. Easy for everyone! How many times did you get your backside kicked before you got it right?
@@shaggytrails777 Hey Shaggy, I probably took about two weeks to get it right, but the skill lays in consistency and continuity. Love your work 😁
Love it in the bong
It gets pretty slushy.
Try keeping your bread in the fridge Shaggy it stays fresher for longer.
Yeah, now I have a second fridge I can do that! Although it is not the ideal way to store bread as it damages the structure of the loaf it does stop it from going mouldy too quickly.
You keep doing you Shag. Explain yourself to nobody 🎉🎉we love cooking Snags with Shags
Well, thank you very much. I enjoy doing it as I like to do it.
@shaggytrails777 you're most welcome sir ...
I like your banger cooking…… and your chatting to the camera. I also like your pie ones too, some of those are just 3 mins
Thank you for your comment, it is honestly appreciated. Unfortunately, it is a long drive from the Bong to get to new butchers and bakers, but I will keep up the snags and the pies as I can. I suppose I can fill in the meantime with BACON!! Stay tuned, it is coming soon!
@ well I enjoy your content. Interested in your lifestyle too. Maybe one day do a story on your van?
@@timhaab355 I made a video ages ago about the packup process for the caravan. Can't remember if it was for my Thai audience though. Still it could be interesting for you. But really the van is my home, my private domain. th-cam.com/video/PJ6_U0CTsmo/w-d-xo.html
@ I understand
I can watch you cook and eat snags all day. Pies too. I find it therapeutic and calming. 😅
Mate, I can eat snags and pies all day! Seriously I am out the back of Whoop Whoop, if I could get more pies, I would. If I could get more bangers without a five-hour return trip, I would. But stay tuned, more will come as I can. But for the time being I might turn my focus to BACON!!!
@shaggytrails777 yeah!!! BACON 🥓
👎
Sorry that you didn't enjoy the video, Chris. But trust me, they were great bangers!
Guts of an Easter Egg just posting a thumbs down with no reasoning behind it.
😊
Yep! They bought a smile to my face too!
As always, thanks very much to Dan Rocks for allowing me to use his original, and in this case previously unpublished. music. Check his channel out: www.youtube.com/@DansSoulfulMusic
Meal of champions, sausage on bread with a bit of sauce
I like to follow the KISS philosophy!
Under baked in the middle makes a pie mate. I reckon your point system is useless, fair dinkum mate.
Well, we all have our own opinions, and I would not deny you of your opinion. I have seen plenty of pie review videos where the reviewer gives a pie a score but doesn't give any rationale behind the score. I do let everyone know why I have given a pie a score and stick to my criteria. Fair is fair, you can't just say yeah that was great without saying why, you cannot say that was bad without giving a reason. So, I have my standardised criteria. Like it or not, that is up to you. As for underbaked in the middle, that is not a pie. It is almost a pie, but the baker took it out of the oven too soon.
Another late comment, those Cooma pis are lovely.
Yeah, they are great.
The art of aussie pie eatin is to eat up side down, this is a late comment mate, but them Bredbo are very nice !
I don't subscribe to the upside down pie theory. But it was a very good tasting pie.
That's OK,knife n fork pies with my pop 50 years ago with a can of dirty anny.
@@glennimmer4692 I never drank beer with my grandfather, he was too scary.
What happened to the sausages
Another coming very soon. The video is rendering as I type.
Rabbitohs 🥰❤️💚
Till the day I die!
@shaggytrails777 likewise bro 👊🏻
Another great video mate. The food looked amazing. Cheers!
It was great! Quick, easy and just one pan to wash up afterwards!
Love the grill marks on that bacon! Might need a pressure washer to clean that sandwich press.
Yeah, the sandwich press is at the sandblasters at the moment.
Another great video Shaggy your recipes are easy to follow even for me ,shows cooking for 1 can be easy and you can have something nutritious also1 pan only thanks for posting
One pan cooking is the best! Less mess to clean up afterwards! Glad you enjoy my videos, thanks for watching.
Another awesome recipe shaggy👌I will have to try that one looked tasty as mate, look forward to the next one😌
Hopefully the next camp cooking video will be in a day or two.
I am really impressed with your camp cooking and it brings back memories of my childhood when this meal was known as a stew but I remember my family added potatoes to this dish. I also remember the wonderful Damper that always followed the camp stew.
Yeah, and we always had either canned apricots or canned peaches for dessert when we were camping.
@shaggytrails777 We did indeed and we enjoyed it.
Another great video Shaggy and it looked delicious. It just shows you can have a good feed while camping or travelling. You cook some good and easy meals. 👍👌
Easy is the important part f it. Cooking for a crowd is fun, cooking for yourself is boring so keep it easy!
Wonderful. I make my grandies similar with ham. I also have a popular with them with sliced cabanossi or kabana with salsa, cheese, ham and olives in a wrap toasted like a kebab. Add some hommus as a base and it's a winner!
The wrap sounds great.
I have to admit that I am a fan of celery. Any casserole gets celery. I love vegemite cheese and celery sandwiches. Wonderful presentation! Another curry dish maybe??
Celery. Yeah, it needs to be there. But I can buy a whole celery for $5, but I will throw 90% of it out (my fridge is tiny). Or I can buy a half celery for $3.50 and still throw 80% of it out. Or I can buy celery sticks for $6.50 a kilo for rotten crap that should be in the bin. I would love to put celery in it but I hate throwing out food that i have paid good money fr.
Top notch grub mate, salt and spice always wins the day and the addition of J Punk just makes the meal so much enjoyable to eat. To Keith...
Thanks Brendan. Glad you liked the video! To Keith!
Another banger of a recipe Shaggy 👍 Hope you had a great weekend.
Thanks, same to you mate!
I can see that going down well in a jaffle. Who said one pan camp cooking wouldn't be popular?
It would go well in a jaffle. As for the popularity of one pn camp cooking, well it isn't really yet. Hopefully it will be!
Haha i had a cigarette lighter that never seem to run out, your gas bottle seems the same
Yeah, it is amazing me. It just keeps going on!
Excellent 🌴🏖👍
Thank you! glad you liked it.
Gosh! You are a good cook. I only started watching your programme after Greg did his copy cat of your sandwich. Wow! Your channel is heaps better than his. I am glad I found this channel. Stay well cobber and have a great day today! Cheers
Greg has been around a long time, much longer than me. As for the food he eats, I am not interested in it. As for video quality, his videos are far superior to mine.
@@shaggytrails777 You are correct. His food is takeaways while you cook them. Who cares for quality video when everybody enjoys how you make them simple thru cooking. I enjoy your channel. Well done my friend!
😂😂
I'm heading down to Ballina for work tomorrow, Any suggestions on a good meat pie and a kilo of butcher snags?
I haven't tried any snags from Ballina yet. As for pies, I thought Beefy's was very good.
Yummy 🤤 looks like a great camp spot
The campground is quiet and peaceful. Three other caravans here. No traffic noise, no railway within 50 kilometers. It has its downsides, but it is nice.
@ peace and quiet just what you want to relax
I bet it is hot we must be getting what you have ;heat wise
Yeah, I think most of the east coast is getting it at the moment.
Turn the bullshit music off
I like the music.
