Fodder at Two Branch Ranch
An overview of our fodder system, harvesting, planting, and feeding to our animals. This is the Mini Fodder Pro system from FarmTek. We plant barley seed with some black oil sunflower seed and grow for 7 days.
We have our system in our basement where it's easily temperature controlled and we have access to water. It's also a walk-out basement so it makes it easy to get the fodder out the pastures.

Information on how to join the Natural Fiber Producers coop and benefits of joining.
how did you make these pvc trays, can you guide how to fabricate to hold water
Are you still using this system x update please , is it worth it ,good / bad
Wow what a great informative video. Thank you from bucks pa
myself, no rinse, I use apple cider vinegar in my soak water and just drain it off and deposit seeds in trays..no mold or fungus
I like your long tray system but cutting the fodder with knife seems time consuming, have you thought about a hedge trimmer (manual) to cut it faster.....I know, I know..not everyone is interested in speed....
Just a reminder that TSC is still sponsoring sodom and gomorrah shows to innocent children
Those critters are eating better than you.
Hello! Your system is very, very good. Can you show how the water is fed to the tray? Why didn't you choose watering with nozzles? Can you find the part where the hose connects to the trays? Tray sizes?
where do i find the trays...thank you for sharing knowledge with all of us.
I believe this method is cheaper and much more healthier for the animals than buying hay and feed every day!
where do you get trays like those? That looks much better than the small trays.
FarmTek
@@SueSchalk thanks
Not worth the cost of infrastructure, time wasted, cost of climate control, you are just feeding water and once the sprout starts to turn green photosynthesis starts using the nutrition in the seed (no soil or fertilizer). Final result: Higher cost and lower nutrition for your animals - expensive watering system! IMHO th-cam.com/video/FHIj9mI-z6o/w-d-xo.html
Do you feed you animals hay as well? Also about how much fodder do you feed each in pounds? We want to get into fodder and have two cows, 5 goats and chickens, so we are trying to figure out how much fodder we would need each day, mainly during the winter months.
Hello, are you still feeding with hydroponic plants? Or is there a better way to feed?
What is the best water intervals? 4 times a day or 6 times a day?
Good fooder
Masha'Allah
Hi, where do you buy the wheat seed?
Great system. What kind of bags are you using to soak the seed? Thanks
It’s like they are saying hmmm this is good stuff, I’ll have some more 😋
👍👍👍👍👍
Salnting of Trey nessesry or not in this method
Hello I am from India how can watering & drenge access water
how come the track below has no grow light?
Hi how does your watering system work , does it just flow from the one end to the other in the trays?
what if u leave roots will it grow again ?without reseeding?
You would have to fertilize it with compost tea or the like. Seed nutrients are gone after 7 days.
I think I have bought the wrong grains. Barley whole, soybeans whole and oats. What do I do. Please help
Good job, congratulations
where do you buy your seeds?
Ask Google.
I think if you put partition at the size of your cutting, you will save time for it.
Awesome.
Where do you get your barley? where do you get your BOSS?
*Anyone with questions might save time by reading this.....* Those furry deer are alpacas. They produce a coat like sheep. The trays are 12 ' long, 9" wide, and 3" deep. From Farmtek.com They buy the Winter barley from a farm north of them in Michigan. No it doesn't have a website. They get bags of Black Oil Sunflower seeds from Tractor Supply (Try www.agrivive.com/ for bulk exports of grain. ) You generally feed 2-4% of the animals body weight in fodder. They don't have to add nutrients because of the short grow cycle (7 days) That rabbit is an angora. His name is Bugs. Thanks Sue and your employee for posting this great video!!
What kind of barley seed do you use
It's winter barley. We found that sprouted better than spring barley.
Nice system, my problem is I can’t find barley seed
Google it. "Where can I buy barley in city, state?"
واوو👍👍
Really nice system . Great for growers that would struggle lifting trays and nice and easy to clean. great job!
Hi iwant this barley seed. Please help me i want to find this seeds thanks.
where can I buy wheat / barley seeds from (in 50 lb bags)?
Feed store or online
What is the template supposed to be?
The humidity of the room, what should it be?
Why not just use a holding tank that will allow the well water to equalize to room temperature? Also seems like your layout makes it inefficient and labor intensive (lots of bending down and lifting heavy loads). I know it’s farming but making things easier when possible wouldn’t hurt
you just feed it on fodder nothing else at the day ?
Fodder is generally fed at about 2% of body weight. Nutritionally that is about all they need, however they do require more roughage. So feed will hay or straw for bulk and roughage.
Where did you purchase your trays?
This system was purchased from FarmTek.com
What is animal name you feed in video? It's look like camel n sheep
Alpacas
Sue Schalk ,thanks
Did you build this system or purchase it. I want to make a system but can’t find an affordable turn key system
Crop King has them
Really liked the video! Thinking about implementing a much smaller system for my chickens to increase the food to dollar ratio. Cheers!
Hey sue, quick question. What are your trays made of, the material and how much did it cost youll? Thanks!
Kailash Sithambaram - check out farmtek.com
SUper, thanks for that!
where to buy barley seeds?
Hi, thanks for the presentation. My question is that do you use plain water or do you add some other nutrients for the fodder to grow well?
Plain water. It only grows for 7 days then we feed it so the seed has everything it needs, no additional nutrients are needed.
