Jimmy Carter - Habitat for Humanity - 1994 Eagle Butte SD
This 1994 WCCO News Story that features Jimmy Carter building homes on a Native American Indian reservation is just as relevant today than it was then. I was fortunate to have produced the Video News Release for this aired story which meant that I spent a week working along side President Carter and his wife Rosalynn Carter, Tom Brokaw, David Hazinski, Alan Stecker and others Producing footage for news stations to use via sat truck.
The Carter's led by example and were the hardest workers on the building site. They slept in a tent and showered in the school gym along side the other volunteers. He is a true leader because President Jimmy Carter and his wife both lead by example.

My parents helped build the first house that was completed on this project. My parents gave the lady their lawn chairs to keep on her new porch. She cried. I believe her name was Irene. We have a group picture. My parents also said Jimmy worked harder than anyone else there, and he always went to the back of the food line. Great stuff. It was a highlight of my parents' lives. ❤

I drove 100 miles to visit this project with my sisters. We watched Roslyn Carter paint a window sill and passed by Jimmy Carter on his way back to a house and said hi. It was a great experience!
