Fast trains are essential to replace fossil fuelled flights. Maglev and non vac tubes sounds like the most energy efficient, sustainable option. I hope they let pod EVs drive on for last mile.
Well done China.
This video really highlights the challenges and opportunities for EV manufacturers. Excited to see how these regulations push the industry forward.
Thanks for watching @BenjaminWilliams-s5t! I'm curious, which aspect of the new emission standards do you think will be the most challenging for manufacturers to meet?
China’s EV edge makes this even more interesting.
Interesting point, @Ethann-W. How do you think China's EV dominance will influence the long-term success of European EV manufacturers in the face of these new standards?
Euro 7 is a game changer for EVs.
As we discussed in the video, @ChineduOkafor-y4w, Euro 7 presents both challenges and opportunities for the EV industry. It's definitely a major catalyst for change.
Interesting information, but do we have to hear a loud, annoying sound effect every time you change to a new video frame? I'm not sure I can get through the entire video. Silicon based batteries may be part of the mix before long as well. Maybe you'll mention it before my patience runs out
Thanks for the feedback, @nosuchperson284. I apologize about the sound effect - I'll definitely take that into consideration for future videos. And yes, silicon-based batteries are definitely on my radar! They're a very promising area of research.
I love EVs, but the charging times compared to filling up a gas tank are still a huge downside. Hopefully, fast chargers become more common.
You're spot on, @MithSmoul. Hopefully, advancements in battery technology and charging infrastructure will significantly reduce charging times in the near future. This would definitely make EVs more appealing to a wider audience.
I was considering an EV, but the lack of charging stations in rural areas is a dealbreaker for me. Hope they fix this soon.
Thanks for sharing your perspective, @AnniLeon-n3k. Out of curiosity, what kind of range would you need to feel comfortable making the switch to an EV, considering the current charging infrastructure in your area?
This video really opened my eyes to the complexity of the EV market.
Glad to hear that, @AlizaMaris! Thanks for watching.
Honestly, I was all in for EVs, but the wait times and price hikes made me stick with a gas car.
I understand your frustration, @Jake-edge. It's disappointing when you're ready to make the switch but face those kinds of obstacles. Hopefully, production will ramp up and prices will stabilize in the future.
I think hybrid cars are a smart middle ground. You get the best of both worlds without the range anxiety.
You're right, @ThomasAnderson-y4y. Hybrids are a strong option right now, but as EV technology continues to improve and charging infrastructure expands, EVs may become an even more compelling choice for many.
It's crazy how rising costs are making EVs less accessible. Charging infrastructure is definitely another big hurdle.
You've hit on two crucial points, @Oliviataylor2. The combination of rising costs and insufficient charging infrastructure is definitely a major challenge for the EV market right now.
China’s EV boom is shaping global transportation.
You're right, @JameMark-o3p. China's EV boom is not only transforming its own transportation sector but also influencing global supply chains, competition, and innovation in the EV industry.
The world’s EV leader? It’s China, hands down.
China proves sustainable transportation is possible.
Thanks for sharing
Very interesting video
America and Europe are continuously whinging about Chinese Government subsides and encouragement of EV development and sales which have been so successful in helping that huge problem of carbon emissions from ICE cars. Why doesn't America subsidise and encourage EV development and become good world citizens, perhaps reduce some of those 700 military bases world wide could finance the idea. I have just remembered Mr Trump and many Americans do not understand and accept the science of carbon emissions and their effect on the ozone layer and how catastrophic it would be for the planet as average global temperatures increase etc. Fortunately by far the majority of countries ( over 120 or so )accept global warming, signed up to the Paris agreement and have set targets to reduce carbon emissions to zero by certain dates. ICE cars sales are down, VW closed 3 factories, Nissen, Jeep etc likely to go bankrupt due to low sales. Clean clear air with no noise from ICE cars as high tech Chinese low priced incredible value EV sales are increasing at an astronomical rate in South America, Mexico, Asia and African markets. Heavily polluted cities like Jakarta Mexico City Sao Paulo etc etc are being transformed as EV sales increase. Come on America, lets have a bit of competition, you could equal the price and quality and produce EVs equal or better than the excellent Chinese high tech EVs if you invest in the industry and set your mind to do so. China is the undisputed biggest car manufacturer on the planet and growing exponentially with EVs improving continuously. Overall the world loves them.
Until winter happens
You're right, @FrogUniverse. Issues like cold starts, reduced range, and potentially slippery road conditions are all challenges that electric motorcycle riders face in winter. :P
Cool
Chinese sponsored bullshit.
Climate change BS...... guarantee everyone pushing these standards is getting kickbacks. The majority of people are for "saving the planet" but not when someone forces us to do it. Eliminate climate change private airplanes and yachts....there, we just saved the planet, but that never seems to happen. Only the smaller people suffer. Or how about chopping trees down to create fire lines in forests vs having millions of acres burn when a forest fire breaks out...... because common sense doesnt run our governments
Thanks for sharing your perspective, @ericgorecki9347. I understand your concerns about the fairness of these regulations and the focus on individual actions. The video aims to explore the effects of these standards on the EV industry, regardless of the underlying motivations. Policy discussions are complex, and there are definitely different viewpoints on how best to address environmental challenges.
Honestly, I was shocked! You failed to mention NIO's unique Battery Swapping technology and battery swapping stations performing hundreds of automated battery swaps a day....
"shifting consumer taste towards sustainability legislative technology development"...what? EV sales hit the plateau because people don't believe this nonsense. They don't like being told what to buy and not to buy by the government.
Anyone have any mods to bring back the manual temperature controls so people don't wreck their cars while driving? Also a way to swap out the radios, because the tablet radio is pretty damn lame.
Nope. Never will happen. Grids can’t handle the watts usage and we all know EVs suck. And why give up a roaring v8 over a gay EV.
Well its too early to judge. Lets see how good is Elon Musk Hydrogen car 😊
Why Electric Vehicle's ( EV's ) are not the Answer Either the following shows why: Gavin Newsom is going to Destroy this State of California & will effect Nevada, and Probably Arizona. Ok, some of the points are not too far off the mark, but there are some other factors. EV COSTS: First the models available in the UK and other areas I know of are increasing rapidly. Most are too big and the wrong type for those of us that want mid sized estate cars but smaller models are arriving. AVAILABILITY: I only had to search for half an hour before I found a useful platform (Auto trader) which had a one year old MG4 which I bought from a garage 20 miles away). The current model is about 35k I paid less than 19k. It had been driven about 180 miles. I have used it to drive 200m to Shetland. CHARGING POINTS.: I had very little trouble charging even though there are more charging stations in a 20 mile radius around my very rural home than throughout Shetland. I actually charge at home 98% of the time as the MG has about 270 miles of range in my experience. I do that off peak using Octopus Intelligent Go at home which reduces my costs to about £2.5 per 150 miles although that does include the house heating for a day (difficult to subtract off the top of my head) It's about 7p for 3.75 miles. The nearest petrol garage is 12 miles away so that saves me 40 minutes of driving which I would have to do at least once a week. On sunny summers days I can usually halve the cost of electricity which saves me a pound or two. It takes me about a minute to plug in. I use the car to supply electricity for heating and lighting the mobile home I am renovating as a workshop although that is limited to 3kW. BATTERY RANGE: That's not a problem. I've driven EVs for 6 years and never run out. I have run out of petrol because of an inaccurate gauge. POORER AREAS: True, but very few poor people buy new cars. I intend to buy a 2012 Leaf about 200 miles away for £1600 with about 90 miles of range to store excess sunlight and power the house when the cars are being used. ICE cars may be traditional, so were horses. Evolve.
Stupid AI generated garbage.
not when you look at how much more likely they are to catch fine and the extra cost and maintenance .. look up the statistics.. death traps !!
5g is quite old now. In the uk its been out for several years
Most electricity is produced from burning natural gas and coal. When charging an EV there is a power plant somewhere pumping out pollution into the air. EVs really are not all that green. ☹ EVs just shift the pollution to somewhere else.
Well, as all those who want EV's have bought them.
EVs cannot keep up with Travel Time and their batteries are far more toxic than fossil fuel can ever be.
You must work for a petroleum company. Sounds like crap.
Who? Have you actually gone on an extended road trip with EV? I have! I'm never doing it again.
Because nearly all the early adopters of new technology have already bought their EV. Now comes the hard part of selling EVs on their merits against ICE vehicles. Most of the rest of us that are planning on making our next vehicle an EV are waiting for prices to come down and for getting our money's worth out of our ICE vehicles. We cannot afford to throw away all that equity in our existing vehicles. In my case, I needed a mini-van as I had to start using powered wheelchair, The VW Buzz would have likely been great but in mid 2023 it was not available and is horrifically expensive for a vehicle I will only use for 5000km a year. So I bought a 2019 Honda Odyssey for $35K not including the wheelchair gear which was another $12,200. I bough this older one to get the one with a V6 and not a turbo 4 as the mountains here in BC are death on small turbocharged 4s. The VW is just now hitting the market in 2024 and though I vowed to not buy anything but an EV like I needed was not available. Even now, being just out, it is selling beyond full list price. I could not justify the nearly $100,000. My point it that while dedans and SUV like vehicles are good for many, there are more types of vehicles needed. I know the smart thing to do is to serve the largest volume markets first and i see more and more EVs on the road all the time. Mostly Tesla, Kia and Hyundai models. A Mustang Mach-E now and then. Stoll, now that the early adopters with money have bought, sales will dip for a while while they build up volume again in their natural progression. For many people a hybrid is a good in between type of vehicle to convince the doubters.
Also it maynot be possible to make a rear wheelchair ramp cuz you'll be cutting into the floor where the battery is. So you're limited to a side lift for your wheelchair.
I think the #1 reason is simply the overestimation by the major car companies of how quickly people would transition from ICE to EVs. In 2015 Tesla sold a total of 18,742 cars, Ford sold 780,354 F-series trucks alone. In 2023, Tesla sold 670,000 cars of all models combined, Ford sold 750,789 of just F-series trucks. Tesla sales are credible for a small, new company making niche vehicles, but are laughably tiny compared to the major manufacturers. New markets take time to grow, especially when they are dependent on having a publicly available infrastructure to support them. 17.5 million cars and light trucks were sold in the US at it's peak in 2016, while Tesla sold 26,725 - so how long would you reasonably expect a market to grow from 26k units to 17,5m? I'm guessing 20 ~ 30 years before even 1/2 the cars sold are EVs. I just bought a new EV, but I live in CA where there are lots of public chargers, (which I rarely use because I can charge at home). That's not the case for a lot of people in the US who may not have chargers near them, and renters who cannot charge at home. So it will be a long time before EVs become practical for a huge number of people. Auto manufacturers misread the demand and scaled up production way too fast.
Where did you get your numbers? Tesla delivered 1.8 million cars in 2023 and 1.3 million in the first nine months of 2024. Tesla has reduced prices and still makes a profit on every car. What other EV manufacturer can say that?
AI generated garbage propaganda.
right ... the goverment made it mandatory for all company cars to be electric .. and employers are steadily asked to turn in their gasoline cars
@robbietorkelsonn8509 Yep, this is your Represive Govt at Work. You get what you voted for !
Too expensive.
hydrogen reminds me of mad max and pig shit
We don't need new cars and new infrastructure, we need new fuels that are carbon neutral. Synthetic fuels have been around since the 1800s. EVs can not scale big enough to make any difference due to the scarcity of the materials needed.
With your way of thinking, we would still be using horse-drawn carriages. Horses are also carbon neutral.
Western consumers are used and abused. Paying high prices for lousy goods produced by EU and US. They are short change by their leaders/politicians who line their pockets and obey Uncle Sam. This is what the west citizens get.
Absolutely bullshit.why western nation trying to curb Chinese made EV’S???
Buying a good condition used Tesla makes more sense. However if the buyer is on a tighter budget some five-year-old model 3s are being sold for less than half their new price. If the buyer has home solar power it’s cheap energy to “fuel” the car instead of selling the excess power for peanuts to the power company.
EV is good as long as you have a place at home to charge, and you have an ICE car as a second vehicle. In the event of natural disaster, long road trips. I'll take ICE
Because we don't want to be burned alive in an Elon musk junk EV's!!!!
daj ne seri ,pada prodaja ice automobila a ev rastu ,daj brojke a ne da serš napamet!!!
This video does not present the true facts such as a lack of recharging infrastructure and the slapping of very heavy tariffs on imported EVs - specifically by the U.S. and some European countries, making EVs less attractive. However, EV sales in countries like Australia, Russia, many parts of Asia, and South America are increasing especially in countries where oil (and thus gas/petrol) are increasing in cost and availability.
In short due to Bidennomics inflation there's a problem.
