The people turned away when they heard what jesus said in Jn6: 52-62. Did jesus changed his mind and tell them he was joking, ...no Jesus did not changed his word, because he is speaking literally and sacramentally. If he was speaking , metaphorically or figuratively , his words would echo a Hebrew idiom where consuming flesh and blood refers to the brutalities of war. The Greek word Trogo(eats) a verb meaning chew or gnaw. It is used five times in the Fourth Gospel and only once elsewhere in the NT. Greek literature used it to describe the feeding of animals such as mules, pigs and cattle, and some cases for human eating. In John the verb is used four times in the second half of the bread of life discourse(Jn6:54, 56, 57, 58). This marks a shift in jesus teaching which up until Jn6:54 made use of a more common verb for eating( Gk. esthio, Jn6:49, 50, 51, 53) The change in vocabulary marks a change of focus and emphasis from necessity of faith to the consumption of the Eucharist. The graphic and almost crude connotation of this verb thus adds greater force to the repetition of his words: he demands we express our faith by eating in a real and physical way, his life-giving flesh in the sacrament. Just be careful how you interpret the HOLY BIBLE. This where your faith comes alight.

Go Fiji Catholic GO...... So good to see the old and young marching together and reaching out to our brothers and sisters who have left the faith. I was one of them in the verge of leaving my faith as a catholic, i saw my catholic faith was stagnant, was not growing. I blame myself for that, i won't blame the church, the doctrine of the church or the priest. I blame myself. For so long as a Catholic I did not do any bible studies or understand the meaning of MASS. MY dear friends you can laugh at me but the truth is the MASS is something else, if you deeply study the CCC and the BIBLE. As Pope Benedict calls "the fundamentalist interpretation of sacred Scripture", which have wreaked such havoc in recent times, leading many Catholics to leave the Church. According to pope, one major problem with fundamentalist interpretation of the bible is that it refuses '' to take into account the historical character of biblical revelation'' and thereby ''make itself incapable of accepting the full truth of the incarnation itself. That is the truth my brothers. Understanding your catholic faith is like finding a treasure that was lost. Like the reading of the Holy Gospel today Lk 15:1-3, 11-32. Dear brothers and sister embrace you faith, read your bible with the ccc at hand. Read the early church fathers to go deeper into scriptures. I'm so glad that his Grace have move the Catholic Faith in Fiji to another level. God Bless FIJI.
