They could be countable infinite maybe. but not forever. Even if the story took the whole time till the heat death of the universe. At some point you realize its just a game. And you play for the last time.

I've thought about this too! Been totally thinking about how you could work AI into games to make them go on forever. For pricing, I personally believe that the procedural parts need to be moved onto the local machine. My hope is that small local LLMs will increase in quality soon, so that they may be used instead of relying on online services. For the concept of an infinite game and if it can really work, I guess you really need to get into the psychology of why we even play different games. I personally get picky with the games I play. A lot of the games I like have useful reasons for progressing. However, I also really like discovering new mechanics and things in games. But eventually, the gameplay loop emerges. The game goes from becoming an escape, to becoming work. I'm fine with grinding to get a cool sword so I can fight the dragon, but if after I defeat that dragon I need to grind to get a cooler sword so I can defeat a bigger dragon, I'm gonna feel a bit bored. For me, if I can figure out all the game mechanics, how quests are structured, and can predict what's going to happen next based on my skill level, I lose interest. Many games do a great job of hiding their gameplay loops and introducing new mechanics or structure that keep things feeling new. But even the process of regularly adding new things can become repetitive. Portal 2 is one of the best games out there. But if that game tried to extend the gameplay by a few more hours by adding more mechanics every 10 chambers, I believe it would get very tiring. A side note, a game that does an absolutely awesome job of introducing mechanics is Outer Wilds. Virtually all the mechanics are unlocked from the start but many are not directly taught or are even know to the player. You figure out how to use many of them by piecing together clues you read, dumb luck, or a mixture of both. The more you know, the more direction you have as to what you need to do next. When it comes to infinite games, there's always the issue with "jumping the shark". Eventually, they run out of ideas or space to have any developments without sacrificing a core part of the story. We see this problem more with sitcoms than games, as games usually have a shorter story as the secondary focus and it usually comes to a nice close. But an infinite game would have to face that issue if it valued a long rich story. I think an infinite game powered by AI would need to find a balance between keeping things novel and interesting, while not leaving the player behind or making them feel overwhelmed. Something that encourages exploration, and never gives you the feeling that you have it all figured out, while letting you learn more.

3:29 I came across that unmarked location once when I took had to go to Knife Point Ridge to kill the bandits for the Falkreath jarl. It was a bit jarring, to say the least. After I bought the house in Riften, I went in once and the wandering bard was just standing inside. I got a free instrumental and a free song (age of oppression). Pretty cool. But when I encountered him out in the wilds later on, he sang the age of aggression. 14:50 I nearly died when I watched Lydia swing from 10 ft away from the wolf.

Fishing is one of the best addition to Skyrim but I hate fishing in the cold regions. The one thing I hate about fishing in the cold region is that I could always end up getting ambushed by animals like bears and saber-tooth tigers. Found about 47 places where I could fish (including a few inside caves and underground). Save tonnes of money buying food since you can cook fish to eat.
