I play a Hofner New President over several amps included a 30 watt Crate Taxi Amp wich is a great amp for jazz imho. I also use a Zoom GX3 Xn. I'm a big Doug Raney fan and i like his sound very much. For years i tried several pre fab paches, i tried to customize them and tried to make them myself but nothing really worked. The jazzsound I was after wasn´t there. The sound of Pat Martino Emily Remler Doug Raney. Till.... just a few day ago i thought that those guys and girl never used effcts at all. So I tried to experiment with a less effcts as possible. 1 Fender Twin (no cabinet ) 2 Grafic EQ ( for instance put a Doug Raney record on at tweak the EQ till you are satisfied ) 3 Spring Reverb ( Not to much ) IMHO the result was amazing. So if you like the 'original " jazzguitar sound give iy a try.
