[4K] CHARLESTON'S ANGEL OAK TREE / The Angel Oak is over 400 years old 🇺🇸
The Angel Oak estimated to be more than 400-500 years old.

It is simply known as The Tree in some circles. It stands in a wooded area in John’s Island just outside Charleston in South Carolina. Angel Oak is a live oak which also happens to be the state’s most imposing work of nature.
With a height of more than 65 feet, Angel Oaks has shaded the area for more than 400 years.
The tree currently has a circumference of 25 feet, a diameter spread of 160 feet and covers about 17,100 square feet of ground. Those visiting Charleston for the first time should know that Angel Oak is the most impressive work of nature in South Carolina. Additionally, the tree stands out in a wooden area in John’s Island about 12 miles from Ashley River.
Angel Oak trunks are so heavy and large that some of them fall to the ground, a feature only found in the oldest living oaks.
Over the centuries, Angels Oak has survived rough weather including earthquakes, hurricanes, floods as well as human interference.
It’s therefore accurate to assume that the tree will live for a whole lot more centuries before coming down and will remain one of the top things to do in Charleston, SC.

Washington D.C. The Mary Livingston Ripley Garden is a Smithsonian garden that endeavors to expose visitors to a wide variety of plants and inspire people to expand their plant palette. This jewel box of a garden is just steps from the National Mall. Garden visitors who wander up the brick paths will experience a profusion of color, texture, and fragrance. Destined to become a parking lot in 1978, the talented Mrs. Ripley persuaded the Smithsonian Women’s Committee to support a garden instead. Hail Mary! Today, this is a beloved garden popular with visitors and local residents alike. A stately fountain courtyard stands as a centerpiece. Paths lead to alcoves off to the sides. There is an element of delight when rounding the corner to find refreshingly original combinations of plants or urns overflowing with flowers. A profusion of flowers delights at each turn. Tastefully placed vignettes create interest. Plant palettes invite study. Textures intrigue. It is a great place to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature. Bring your camera and/or a sketchpad. Study the plant combinations, the textures, and the whimsical touches for ideas to take home to your garden. This is a small garden, but it packs a punch. Mary Livingston Ripley Garden Hours Amazingly, the garden is not gated and is open to the public 24/7. The event featured combine harvesters, milking equipment, sprayers and planters, irrigation equipment, tractors big and small, as well as dozens of interactive and hands-on exhibits by grower groups and agriculture innovators. This year’s theme, the Future of Food and Farming, showcased the advances that drive American agriculture’s long history of producing more while reducing its environmental footprint.

One of the first to draw attention to the importance of plants for the harmonious and healthy development of personality was the American journalist Richard Lowe, who proposed the term “nature deficiency syndrome.” (nature-deficit disorder). The human need to interact with the plant world for full mental development and functioning is explainable from the point of view of theories of environmental psychology. According to the aesthetic-affective theory, the anti-stress effects of nature are the result of processes initiated in the oldest parts of the brain, due to which people intuitively respond to safe places where they can relax, and these places are usually covered with green vegetation. There is ample evidence to suggest that interacting with the plant world can help restore and maintain mental health.

Healing gardens and encounters with nature reduce depression and strengthen attention, reduce stress and mental fatigue. A person can use the healing power of plants even without resorting to any special psychotherapeutic practices, but simply by being close to nature or actively interacting with it.

03:29 When you visit the 9/11 Memorial at Ground Zero, you’ll notice a large white building with steel, wing-shaped tips reaching toward the sky. That’s the Oculus, a transportation hub and shopping mall built alongside the One World Trade Center. The building is one of many that were included in the city’s plan to rebuild the World Trade Center after September 11. After the devastating September 11th attacks, plans were quickly put in place to rebuild and reimagine the World Trade Center. These plans included the idea for a transportation hub that would bring business and people back to the area - the Oculus. By 2004, construction had begun, and 12 years later, the Oculus opened to the public. As a project with a commercial and artistic focus, the Oculus has come to represent the city’s strength and a beacon for resilience. Even if you don’t plan on using any of the transportation available at the hub, visiting the Oculus is unforgettable. There’s no building like it in the world, and a visit here is a nice capstone to your tour of Ground Zero. The Oculus was designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. He intended it to resemble a dove leaving a child’s hands. You can see it in the tall, crossed steel columns that make up the exterior. Together, this series of columns forms a pair of 350-foot wings. The name comes from the strip of windows, or skylights, along the spine of the roof. Oculus is the Latin word for “eye,” which, in architecture, refers to a round or eye-like opening with a view of the sky. Take a look up through the windows, and you’ll see Freedom Tower. This opening also allows sunlight to pour in each morning. The angle of the windows is particularly placed so that every year on the anniversary of the attacks, the sun shines directly through the skylight and illuminates the main hall at 10:28 a.m. (the time of the collapse of the second tower). It’s called the “Way Of Light.” Calatrava positioned the building slightly tilted from the street grid in order to achieve the effect. While the complex design was responsible for several construction delays, the building is now a regular destination for visitors to Ground Zero. People love to take photos in and around the monumental structure It’s not only a hub for commuters but a one-stop shop as well. You can buy clothes, get your iPhone fixed, or feed your sweet tooth. There’s over 350,000 square feet of retail and dining space. The new World Trade Center is still very much growing and changing, and the visitors the Oculus was meant to attract are coming in more and more each year. Despite the hustle and bustle of New York City, there’s a sense of calm at Ground Zero, especially at the 9/11 Memorial. The North Pool and South Pool are both surrounded by trees and stones where you can sit and just be. The sound of the water in the pools provides a calming place to sit and take a break during your travels. During 9/11 and after, the United States as a whole experienced a great tragedy together. More specifically, New York City went through something incredibly sad but came together to get through it and rebuild. By walking through Ground Zero, you feel the togetherness and tenacity of New York and the New Yorker spirit.

02:43 History of Saint Paul’s Chapel Built in 1766, St. Paul’s is Manhattan’s oldest surviving church building. Land for the church was granted by the Queen of Great Britain at the time, Queen Anne, and was designated in the Parish of Trinity Church. New York City at the time was still under British rule. The southern area of Manhattan was growing to become a major port, and most of the city had yet to be developed. Fun fact: St. Paul’s was the tallest building in New York when it was finished. In 1776, a great fire sparked by the Revolutionary War burned through the city and destroyed almost half of its buildings. Luckily, St. Paul’s survived with the help of a bucket brigade who poured water all over the burning church. How did St. Paul’s Chapel get its name? The namesake for the church is the Apostle Paul of the New Testament, born as Saul of Tarsus. He was known for his dedication to the ministry and serving those who would be considered outcasts. In his name, community outreach is a primary focus of the church, which offers aid to immigrants, working women, and the homeless, among others. Though September 11, 2001, and the days that followed were some of the darkest times in America’s history, amid the tragedy, a small beacon of hope stood at the corner of Broadway - Saint Paul’s Chapel. The church has always been a historic building welcoming visitors, but for nine months after 9/11, it became a refuge for thousands. Today, Saint Paul’s Chapel welcomes over 1 million visitors every year. Yet few know St. Paul’s deep connection to the events of 9/11.

Wow, another great waterfall and another great video. I'm kind of conflicted about the boardwalk, its obviously great to get people to see everything safely but it does distract from the natural beauty, although I guess it also protects that natual beauty by keeping people on it. 😎

Good afternoon, dear Friend. Yes, boardwalk really protects nature from unnecessary human intervention by limiting his actions. And at the same time it helps people to be safe, not everyone could get there and see the beauty of Flume Gorge if there was no boardwalk. Thank you very much for watching. Have a wonderful weekend!

00:10 SUMMIT One Vanderbilt 00:55 Observation Deck Shuttle Elevators. Speed: 1,800 FPM (9 m/s) !! Any ordinary elevator in a modern office building can speed you up a quarter mile in a few dozen seconds, smoothly and silently enough that it seems like you’re going nowhere. This one, though, is special: It rattles and thumps (electronically, I trust). Lights flicker, and as a chunka-chunka rhythm picks up speed, you suspect you’re on a runaway vertical train about to get shot into the clouds. 01:23 AIR: TRANSCENDENCE 1 ART INSTALLATION BY KENZO DIGITAL 03:21 REFLECT Artist Yayoi Kusama 04:05 AIR: AFFINITY 05:17 AIR: TRANSCENDENCE 2 ART INSTALLATION BY KENZO DIGITAL 06:33 AIR: UNITY 07:06 TERRACE 09:05 One Vanderbilt is a very tall midtown office building with a new observation deck on the 91st through 93rd floors, high enough to look down on the Empire State Building. An unrealistically strong impression when the fog and clouds blocking the view of the city and the river suddenly suddenly disappear, and then a stunning picture opens before our eyes, and we begin the journey to the horizon. SUMMIT One Vanderbilt will be New York City’s most thrilling destination. An experience that takes advantage of One Vanderbilt’s Midtown location, height and views, while truly immersing visitors in a spectacular way. New York City is the culture capital of the world, we are proud to add to that great legacy. - Marc Holliday, Chairman and CEO, SL Green Realty Corp.
