Very interesting, I’m actually about 65cm from my screen, but it still looks terrible not being able to hide the virtual wheel, adjust the seat position or the FOV. Horizon 4 and 5 will make for much better videos.

@gaminggoose2329 well FH series is not in the simulator category and since it was the first Horizon series on Windows they didn't implement FOV adjustment. I would recommend moving backwards a bit and make sure the centre of the monitor is at your eye level. This would give you a better 1:1 view.

​​⁠centre of my display is eye level, and rest of the cockpit is already ergonomically calibrated, I honestly don’t play many of these games with fixed FOVs so it’s more beneficial for me to stay as close as I can get.

Yeah, it would be great to be able to hide the virtual arms and wheel though

I couldn’t get it to work on the steam version, so I downloaded a DRM free version that was pre-setup with the latest patch, all the DLC content that was missing from the PC version, it’s unpacked and ready for modding with the mod manager. Then I just had to download the overhaul V2.0 file and inside there are different folders for each module of the mod. Start by adding each folder to the “mods” folder inside shift and then open the JSGME mod manager and clicking the mods you added to bring them across to the game and the appropriate files will be replaced temporarily while the mods are active.

You should give NFS Shift a go with a wheel and pedals, it’s pretty trash to play, can’t take any proper driving lines at speed because of the horrendous understeer, and the Ai rubber banding is all over the place.

His driving looks fine to me. If you've played it you'd know how the handling is. And tbh, games like this are great for the fun factor not nailing every line.

@@warren010h yeah, if anyone wants to see some better driving, I implore them to check out the Project CARS career playthrough I’m doing, also made by Slightly Mad Studios, a more simulation focused NFS Shift type game. I’ll be running through every championship in every discipline, spanning many seasons, all on 100% race length and 100 difficulty if I can. I’m dreading the real endurance races, longest I’ve done was the 6 hours of Spa, which you can find on the channel

@@gaminggoose2329 Nah im sorry, you just need to improve. I have tons of hours in Shift 2 using the G27, it was the first racing game i experience with it back in 2014. You were using the brakes inside evry corner, no wonder that GTR overtook you so easy.

I agree with you. except that the steering wheel always wobbles on me even at 900 degrees. the only way to keep it straight is to lower the central spring scale. but it becomes extremely light. if I let go of the steering wheel it starts to swing left and right like crazy.

Yeah, I run the FFB a bit high, but I like the heavier feeling, a little lower like you said is probably more realistic at about 70 or 80. Something worth keeping in mind regarding degrees of rotation in the Forza games is certain race cars that would normally use 540 DOR can feel overly sensitive if you change your wheel sen setting to match, especially as the in-game FFB doesn’t scale with the sensitivity sometimes, making for a heavy, twitchy, almost oscillating wheel. A good example would be the Ford GTE actually feeling better with 900 Sen on the wheel setting than 540 like it should have. Or try the McLaren MP4/4 F1 car, it’s much too sluggish and requires too much effort to turn at 900, 360 is more accurate and provides an authentic experience, however you’ll have to turn the FFB down as the wheel almost begins oscillating and it very tiring to drive.

I know it’s not entirely realistic but I am a sucker for the tyre scrubbing. You should have heard it in Forza 6, they’ve definitely toned it down over the years.

Eh, physics are pretty good, definitely the best Forza so far. They’ll never be perfect because they choose quantity of cars over quality

It does Both, so I use what’s appropriate to the car. I have either sequential or 7 speed + reverse at the flick of a switch

Lmao I know, buddy just sitting there playing with his hands, they’re not even holding a wheel that matches the car you’re driving it’s something with orange rims. Car doesn’t get jacked up, and fuel guy is just standing in front of the camera with the hose in the wrong spot and not even connected to the car.

This is just the ‘driver’ camera in game that disables the virtual wheel and driver arms. I’ve got my camera behind my shoulder filming me actually racing in front of my display.

Maybe some day, I’m glad you’re enjoying the presentation, I’m always trying to make my videos as high quality as possible, good lighting, consistent formatting etc.

They both have to be set at 540 for me otherwise the cars aren’t realistically responsive enough.
