This is the cleanest version I’ve heard of this recording. I transcribed the whole thing note-for-note for my trio, and I wish I had this! The cylinder recording I used was very poor, thanks for posting!

I would have been worried that a string on a guitar would break since it might have been played close to the horn just to get the notes through to the master wax disc.

Fowler recorded this piece on two different dates: Takes 81108-1 and 81108-2 were recorded on July 3, 1923; Takes 81108-5 and 81108-7 were recorded on July 19, 1923. All were issued on Columbia A-3959, meaning there could be 4 different versions of this side of the record. I presume takes 3, 4, and 6 were not issued.

Just a question, shouldn't Columbia 78 RPMs if they are acoustic be run at 80 RPM like an Edison Diamond Disc?

In 1976, after I got my first antique phonograph, this disc, and La Golondrina , I got from the father of a kid I went to school with. That was almost fifty years ago, no longer have the first machine, but still have those two records
