I just want to say Thank you! You mentioned Horizons in an earlier video that I watched probably a year ago and I ordered the Kindergarten Math Books 1 and 2 for my 5 year old and she finished them both and we LOVE it so much! I will be ordering Horizons for first grade for my now 6 year old. She has learned so much from Horizons Math! THANK YOU NIKKI!!

Nikki, I just found your page from a tangent I went down about Horizon Math curriculum. Girl, I wish we lived closer. I feel like we could be friends. We are in our first “official” year of homeschooling our 6 year old but I feel like we’ve been homeschooling since she was born. One reason we decided to homeschool was my husband is a youth pastor & has weird hours. I know you mentioned your spouse has challenging hours too. Your day in the life was good for my soul to see our lives are so similar. From nursing the toddler (we have a 1 year old), the random croc on the table (duh!), & of course a Dunkin to keep Mama going. We can’t forgot the kids bickering at times too. Our 6 & 4 years olds pick at eachother so much. Thank you for blessing my Mama heart & encouraging new homeschool Moms like me that the journey of Motherhood is challenging but so rewarding. Would love to be friends from central IL. ❤️

This might be a funny question but when do y’all get dressed and ready for the day? After morning basket? I’ve noticed if we don’t “get ready” right after breakfast I can’t get them out of their pajamas!

Hi honey are you and your family still screen free for the most part? I'm pretty sure this is what I need to do for my family. What did you do to fill your days? X

I still add writing the vocabulary words on their writing journal or the phrases nd sentences. U can also tlk about the stories and ask them how they would change the ending or how would they like for it to end it makes them think about sentences and i help them write it out. No need to buy another curriculum in my opinion.

How do you feel the mastery of math facts is with horizons? I was intending on using rod and staff bc they are known for drilling facts but it looks so boring.

I used MUS primer with my 5 yr old Kindergartener this year and it was just way too easy for him, he did 7 whole lessons in one day (each lesson is about 6 or 7 pages). I should have just started him on Alpha, but I wanted a good foundation and no gaps. He is good at math but now has been dreading it because of the boring and repetitive pages. I was considering TGTB but this seems much more up his alley. My only hesitation now is that I wonder if I’ll miss the video lessons at some point. Anyway thanks again!! 💗

Where is the cart from that you have all the paper on?

My son is currently in Kindergarten and is about halfway through TGTB Level 1 math. Looking at horizons for next year. Do you think he could start with book 2 of Level 1 of Horizons? I feel like he might be bored with Book 1 of Level 1. Looking at the testing I don’t think he is ready for level 2 yet but book 1 of level 1 looks very easy for him.

We all wake up naturally. I don't wake mune unless he has an appointment. Sometimes it's as late as 11:30. No problem. 😊

Do you use both the scholastic writing workbook and the HWT budding writers book?

It blows my mind that content creators have to give disclaimers on sharing their OPINIONS. Good gravy ! We are all adults right? So we should be able to accept ( or reject ) an opinion without being a troll! Loved your video keep up the good work😊

What is nuerodivergent?

I am so thankful to have chosen Horizons for our 2nd grade math curriculum. It is perfect. Though it obviously takes longer, I’m having my son do 2-3 lessons in it per day just to keep him busy longer because otherwise he’ll just want to play video games and watch TH-cam all day. It seems like a contradiction to say that it is more advanced, yet allows more independence but it’s true!

I can relate to a lot of this. We've always had babies, toddlers, pregnancies all of our homeschooling. Currently start around 10 am most days and we only homeschool 3 days a week 🙈 it's working well and I still feel like we are getting through everything adequately Thanks for sharing! Hope your pregnancy is going well 😊 I'm due with my 5th next month

What kind of prompts do you use for their journals ? This is something I need to start with mine! Most of our book work is printed off TPT so my kids have color-coded file folders. I set everything up on Sundays. Since we don't do 5 days every week and I don't always know when our free day/documentary day will be, I have them labeled days 1-4. They can just grab the folder for whichever day we are on. If we get around to day 5, it's a pretty light day.. We start around 11ish? My oldest (8) likes to sleep in late. We work until it's done. Usually 1-2 hours. I've tried other schedules and it never works out for us. How do you get through a curriculum if you don't do the subject every day ? Do you do multiple lessons in a day ? Our ELA is set up for 4 days a week. I couldn't imagine cramping a weeks worth of adverbs into a day or two. What does that look like for yall ? Sorry my comment is so long 🙃 love you girl.
