Nice video, I gave you a sub. I jig hoochies through the ice too. You and I are the only guys I’ve seen doing that on youtube. Great minds think alike 😉 tight lines!!
cheers
Why put your fingers in the gills?
Very nice video . Don’t know that I’ve seen many of yours but I will definitely make a point to do so from now on. Thank you
I'm curious Chris...is angling for walleye on the Columbia after dark effective all year round, or just in the colder months?
I like to catch all the fish under the ice but rainbows seem to fight the best! How long is that hike? I’ve been wanting to try it with my son.
4.5km in and out
oh yeah
Filmed recently?
What's everyone's favourite species to ice fish for?
Was there last week, got into quite a few of them. Was a bit of a hike in but was worth it for sure.
Ah, wondered who beat us in? 🙂 I enjoy the hike, and that we usually have the whole lake to ourselves.
Nice little video... looks like you're back on the ice... been enjoying your Lake trolling photos.
Yes finally some safe ice here
@@ChrisKingAngling I think it might be getting colder this next week... maybe our big lakes with freeze if we are lucky for some kokanee in february.
What part of Columbia are you fishing. Good Job
Canadian portion. Castlegar, BC
Great video, I always poke myself with the hook when ever i try to fish a night LOL. New Sub!
Hahaha. It happens for sure! Thanks for the sub and comment. Much appreciated.
Great action! Thanks for the video.
My pleasure! Thanks for the comment.
Awesome Chris!
Thanks. Was a blast to film.
Awesome
Thanks. It was a blast to film.
Very cool . . I was trying to do that this summer one night. Kept getting snagged on the bottom.
Some areas are way less snaggy than others. I've lost my share of jigs over the years too.
@@ChrisKingAngling Yeah I need to bring the snorkel and go rescue some lures!
@TheFishingDoctorsAdventures I have a buddy that does that every year
@TheFishingDoctorsAdventures fishing magnet works too
@ Oh wow... then he's cleaning up already!
Hey Chris, what a night. Just 3 questions, What time of year is this? Is that a Castlegar? Does it matter what time of night? I'm so excited watching this! Wow! I've done a lot of walleye fishing back east and did well but this is fantastic. Another great video. Thanks
That was January 6th. Yeah, Castlegar. But it works no matter where you fish on the Columbia. Anytime after dark.
Hey chris, great video as usual; Slayed those walleye! Im curious how late at night is this?
Anytime after dark works. The schools cruise the shoreline looking for sculpin and juvenile fish.
Had the best luck trolling bouncer+harness downstream of there
That's a deadly tactic for sure.
I'm going to make it a yearly trip. Some nice country you have around there! Cheers from okanagan valley 🍻🎣
What's your favourite way to catch walleye guys?
16 daily limit are they trying to thin them out
Considered invasive in bc, hi limits just like perch and bass
We will never put a dent in the population. They've been well established since they were introduced in the 80's. Honestly, I don't know why there is a limit since they are an invasive species. I think it's because they are a big draw for anglers from all over.
@@ChrisKingAngling Not sure where you are on the Columbia but here in Oregon and Washington there is no limit!
Another great video Chris, were you casting from the boat launch dock…..?….👍👍🎣🎣
I was
wat was the depth of the river there?
6-15ft
Cool❄️🎣
Always a fun stop at Wilgress.
What fish finder u using?
Marcum M1
What's the biggest fish you've caught at Wilgress Lake?
sweet
Why are you keeping those tiny Bows ? We throw all Rainbows under 20lbs back and any Dolly under 5 , reason being we enjoy catching BIG fish and there won’t be any in the Lake if guys like you keep small fish !
Smaller fish are better eating and have less mercury in them. I've kept less than 30 rainbows total since I moved here in 1996. Don't think I'm affecting the population, lol.

I prefer keeping the smaller fish 5lbs and under. They're way better eating and don't have as much mercury in them. There are also way more smaller fish than larger fish. The fish you are keeping above 5 lbs are the spawners, so you're technically killing way more fish by removing them from the system.
@ ya I apologize for that comment brother I was having a really bad day you guys keep fishin keep catching ! The big ones are rare the past 10 years, Happy Fishing 🎣
I use Plugs my favourite is #4 Lyman at 84 feet deep have caught over 100 Dolly Varden my biggest is 24 lbs ,I live on Kootenay Lake in Nelson BC I’m about 40 minutes from the Arrow Lakes
That's a great depth for Bulls. I've caught hundreds of Bull Trout but my biggest is still only 9lbs 6oz. Hoping to break the 10lb mark this month.
What are your favorite lures for Bull Trout guys?
Can’t see it
Can't see what?
yes sir
oh yeah
yeah buddy
Great late season video, can't wait to get back out there next year! Have some friends on slocan lake same recipe?
Thanks! I would think these tactics would work anywhere that has Bull Trout, Lake Trout, Rainbow Trout, Browns, Cuttie, etc, etc.
absolutly maze balls
lovin it
wow. what a blast. thanks for the ride
Looking good. Another nice day
Yes it was
NICE LOOKING DAY.
Yep. No rain, no wind, and it's always beautiful in the Kootenays.
Are you below the Kootenai ?
On Columbia River
Every Eddy has bows in it all the way to the border.
Deadly!!
how far up the columbia do i need to go from pdx to catch these ??
They're everywhere from the US/Canada border to HLK Dam upstream of Castlegar.
Thanks for sharing man! I inherited a boat this year so im learning to fish adams lake, first season with a downrigger and electonics. So much to learn... No fish in the boat yet lol Can't wait for spring so i can try my hand at it again
Good luck!
My pleasure! Where is Adams Lake and what species are you targeting in it?
@@ChrisKingAngling in the BC interior, region 3. After Lakers, bull trout and Kokanee seeing as I've never caught those species. I've only caught rainbows, northern pike minnow and one random lake white fish from the dock. Most of the people are targeting rainbows and kokes, so I'm trying to learn from them, one guys at our site wants to take me out to show me how he does it so looking forward to that!
Let me know how it goes.
congrats on 200 episodes,epic day
Thanks. It was for sure!
Is that the water gap

Deleware water gap
Awesome
well done
