Fast Hard Surface Modelling with 3DS Max Boolean & Open-VDB | 3D Art & CGI Challenge
มุมมอง 9721 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
This week, I dove into 3DS Max's Boolean modifier and OpenVDB. It was a blast creating fast, hard-surface elements with these tools. While it’s great for rapid prototyping, the resulting meshes need quite a bit of work for game or film optimization. Unfortunately, the current retopology tools still fall short of what’s needed for smoother, more efficient workflows. Nevertheless, it’s a fun way ...

      Hey, thanks for the email! I thought I would reply here to clarify the context of the videos and my learning journey. Yeah, shifting with the mouse's middle mouse button (MMB) - muscle memory is stronger than I thought from other programs I use, haha! Watching the playlist you recommended is on my list of things to do, but for now, the idea is to fumble around and allow viewers to see the common learning challenges when someone picks up a new piece of software. In our case, that's Blender! Thanks for your continued support and the time you've taken to share your knowledge, tips, and tricks. I'm confident I'll pick things up at a fairly fast pace! I hope you'll tune in to the next video, as I try to implement some of your tips!

    First of all. middle mouse button will orbit. Shift + middle mouse will pan. Ctrl + middle will zoom in or out but people usually just mouse wheel. There is an "emulate 3 button mouse" setting you can activate in case you are using a drawing tablet with a pencil where you don't have a middle button. There is also an "emulate numpad". Hitting the period (.) on the numpad will center view on your selection and set it up to be the center point of your orbiting. I could write a freaking book in this comment about all the things you don't currently know or are confused about but I think it would be a million times better for you to follow my next advice instead. You are clearly an experienced digital artist. I am impressed by how much you were able to figure out on your own and how quickly. But I absolutely recommend watching a basic tutorial intro. It would save you a lot of time, confusion and frustration. There are features that blender users considers common and basic that I would be beyond impressed if you would SOMEHOW discover on your own. It will (among other things) explain what the flying heck is the 3D cursor and why we care. CG cookie happens to have an awesome playlist that go through the interface, menus, how to customize your workspace, tools etc (exactly what you need to know right now basically). Watching the entire playlist might take 2-3 hours of your time, but as an expert you will be able to fast forward through the parts where they are explaining basic concepts to beginners. I am confident that watching that will allow an expert like you to hit the ground blazing. You don't need the paid content where they teach beginners "how to digital arts". Playlist name: Blender 4.x Beginner Basics Complete Course th-cam.com/play/PL3GeP3YLZn5hhfaGRSmRia0OwPPMfJu0V.html&si=nBPIRAsVfs8PxZvY The scripting language is python. But the software is made with C++ and of course it is open sourced so anyone can modify the core of the software however they want. But people usually make add-ons with the scripting language. But there are some custom non-official versions of blender floating around on the internet made by 3rd parties. The part of the video where you spawned an new blender window. Window menu --> new window or new main window. You would drag and place that on a second screen and get to use the "screen-space" of 2 or more monitors. A "main window" also have the top menus. As for spawning extra "view area" within the same window (and "docking them")... just watch the tutorial playlist.

    • @Zhab80
      @Zhab80 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Ps: There are 3 free add-ons/extensions that you can easily install from within blender itself that absolutely every single blender users I know and ever heard of use without exception. Node Wrangler F2 LoopTools Those 3 are mandatory. No seriously. There are plenty more cool an awesome stuff, but those 3 specifically I honestly don't think there is such a thing as a blender user who knows those exist and yet chooses not to use them. They recently changed how you activate those in blender 4.1 or 4.2. I don't remember which (but I would guess 4.2). So be careful if your watch tutorials on that process.

    • @digitalste811
      @digitalste811 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      so firstly you would need to go to tool/view port canvas/ once you load it up you will get the (VPC tool window) which you can see in my vid on the left. if you then select your model and click on the paint brush icon within the tool bar it will give you texture options, click diffuse and set up the size and save path, then select layer within the tool bar, which will pop open the layer window if you then go to file load you can load in you already made texture, once you have done this there is a clone tool within the brush section which you can then use to sample parts of your texture and paint out your seams!! have a look at this blog it should help: consoul.org.uk/view-port-canvas-3ds-max/#more-680
