I lost my mam on 6th May 2006. No illness. She was getting ready to go out for a little walk when she had a massive heart attack and she was gone at the age of 67. We found out after her funeral that she had cancer but she didn't know it as she asked the hospital staff if they found anything not to tell her. She was spared a lot with the way she went which was our only comfort. It'll be 18 years this year and it still hurts like crazy. I think about her and miss her every day. Mam was a singer. When she sang a song she made it her own. She was amazing and she gave me my love for music. So many times I'll hear a song on the radio and think she'd love to hear it or I'll go through a tough time and think if she were here she'd know how to help me get through this. I've passed the love of music onto my two kids and all three of us will be heading to see you in Croke Park, Dublin in May (the day before my daughters 19th birthday and 2 days before my 54th birthday) Sending the biggest hugs Bruce. Losing your mom is one of the hardest things you'll go through in this lifetime. She's at peace now. No more suffering. May she rest in peace and may you and your family find the strength to get you through this tough time.

I feel you, sir!!! I’m 65 now, lost my Dad on my birthday in 1971, and my Mom in 2001. Though everything good and everything bad, I will never know where I’d be or who I’ve become without them!!! God Bless your darling Mother and thank you for the beautiful reminder of how lucky we all are!!!

I admire you Bruce. I'm 56 years of age, and have come a long way listening to you from the start of your career. Still believe that "Darkness on the edge of town" was your best album yet, followed by " Human touch". But anyways, my condolences on passing of your mother, and I admire the old spirit of caring for your parents personally, as opposed to nowadays. Here's to you finding peace and strength in her passing, knowing she's one with the Lord and is in a happy place. God bless you for the true blue music you put out. Will grow old listening to them, as they don't make them like that anymore..! Stay blessed and create more gems for me to croon about.

This explains why he cancelled those concerts months back, she was probably suffering and in bad health and he kept it as quiet as he could. That's the best way to handle things!
