You mentioned you have an MT-10. I have one as well and use it for everything, including touring. Do you think the 890 R is versatile enough to replace your MT-10 or more of a niche bike?

Hi Jim, sorry for such a late response; I definitely think the 890 R is versatile enough. It’s the same style as the MT 10, only much lighter. However, it does lack cruise control, and I’m not certain, but it might be slightly more difficult to mount luggage.

@@dylangrieveable Hahaha, I'm a Pirelli man in heart and soul. I don't have experience on Rosso III; had Supercorsa SP V3 on my Daytona, oh man, I did a stoppie on accident and the rear would always lift the front driving out a corner. It never broke traction and after 700 miles it still looked new. I can't do a proper quantitative analysis on the Cup 2 vs SC SP V3 on two different bikes. But, from the looks of it I'll prob get 3K on my Cup 2. I am weighing towards Rosso IV Corsa for replacing both because I ride in damp and 'just finished raining' conditions.

this is one of the most helpful reviews. I definitely need to ride it my self to have a feel , however it is good to hear abt the qs, steering dampener and your take on the brakes..the most "professional" reviews (imo) highlight the positives way to much and barely mention anything negative, but i am digressing. For now i am between this one and the mt09sp, coming from an 821 monster with an up map and termis, i believe that the duke will feel more familiar than the triple but on the other hand a bit more smoothness might not be a bad idea. thank you and stay safe

If you test rode the 890R you took it home. I rode the MT-09 SP and all it wants to do is wheelie. The 821 I've rode as well and they seem geared to go 300 MPH, LoL! In first gear the revs are so slow and lazy it seems like you don't have to shift until 200 MPH.

I was out driving and the car began to overheat, out of nowhere. I pulled over, looked in the engine bay and underneath.. no obvious issues that I could see. I let the car cool off for about a 1/2 hr, then continued driving and it started doing the same thing! I pulled into a nearby repair shop, for help. 15mins later the issue had been diagnosed and fixed. In disbelief, I asked what had happened?! The lower coolant hose had just blown off the radiator and there was nowhere for the coolant to go, but out. $160 to reattach the coolant hose and fill the system with coolant. 🙄
