Smallrig Magic FIZ with Canon R5 Bluetooth issues
มุมมอง 335 หลายเดือนก่อน
I bought the small rig magic fiz and tried pairing it with my Canon r5 over Bluetooth. there are two main problems. the record button doesn't start the video. the two don't connect when I turn them off and back on.
Asteroid docking and reminding myself how the claw works
มุมมอง 675 ปีที่แล้ว
I set my sights on a Class E asteroid and completely forgot how big they get. The one I ended up next to was 3022 tons. I had only brought a terrier engine and small amount of dV because I thought it would be about 30 tons. I also reminded myself how to use the claw in the first place.

Lets go to Eve with five probes at once (long)
มุมมอง 85 ปีที่แล้ว
Felt like going to Eve to complete a contract and to get 1000 science, but with just one ship. Also I leave behind a really powerful relay section in orbit for future missions.
A quick stop at Ike (narrated in post)
มุมมอง 65 ปีที่แล้ว
I haven't uploaded in a while and wanted to keep up my video making skills. So I decided it was time to just record something, anything. The mic didn't want to pick up anything when I recorded the video so I narrated in post. Which maybe is better anyway.
Normal mode reverts allowed, mun speed run (no sound)
มุมมอง 106 ปีที่แล้ว
I played through career mode on normal difficulty with reverts allowed. This is my last 12 minutes of play. The goal is to get to mun, plant a flag, and return to kerbin alive as fast as possible in kerbin time. I landed back on Kerbin day 2 at 3:16:42. When I got to orbit, I burned a little early (about a minute early) from when I normally would see Mun over the horizon and then burned until I...
Cassini Huygens probe to Saturn and Titan
มุมมอง 877 ปีที่แล้ว
I made a spaceship in KSP that is similar to the Cassini Huygens probe that went to Saturn and landed on Titan. I used pictures from saturn.esa.int and information from wikipedia.
Kerbal Klassroom - Three ways to get to Minmu
มุมมอง 407 ปีที่แล้ว
Less gameplay and more explanation than the Mun episode. Here we learn new orbital vocabulary and three flight plans that can get us to Minmus, the farther moon of Kerbin. Homework for this episode includes reading these articles: wiki.kerbalspaceprogram.com/wiki/Minmus en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Longitude_of_the_ascending_node

KSP 1.2 Mun speed run on Moderate no reverts allowed (Part 9)
This was resolved after SmallRig looked at my video with me over email. The problem goes away when you set the RED menu, page 6, Remote Control -> Enable setting. After turning this setting to Enabled, when I turn off both and turn on both, they reconnect automatically over bluetooth. And the REC button works.
I'm convinced this a better landing method than Apollo. You could do drop tanks on the skycrane just after it veers off, and reuse the skycrane after new landing fuel cartridges are acquired. A rover with ejection capsule return also would allow a safer mission abort w no notice. The rover would *be* the lander.
You had SAS set to Prograde, the reaction wheel, fins, and engine gimbal turned you, not gravity
Great content, my advice would be, just redo the voice over so you say the same thing but without the pauses, and use about 5x the energy!! Im only one step ahead with 17,000 subs! (no not on this channel haha) All the best!
I lost a bit of momentum when the person I was playing with and trying to teach was deployed for a year. Great suggestion though. I never quite figured out how people like Scott Manly can just talk and talk without any pauses or "ums". I guess the only way I'd get there is a heck of a lot of practice or recording a separate voiceover while reading queue cards or something to that effect. I recorded most of these at night while my kids were sleeping so that's why I was so quiet.
BIIIG Lightbulb went on!!! Let gravity do it for you ;-) Thank you
Just what I have been looking for. YT has been needing these kind of instructional videos on Kerbin. Thanks keep it up!
Hey this was actually super helpful for me. I'm taking a robotics programming course and we're using kOS to teach about how to apply domain knowledge to programming and this was great for helping me understand how to approach these orbital mechanics problems.
Glad I was helpful. These were fun to make. Might get back into it now that my oldest is into KSP now and also coding.
@@ChrisKSP that would be really cool to see
It is the best video explaining gravity turn out there. I say best not necessarily good. I still don't understand how does gravity help in turning the rocket. Perhaps you can reply an explanation.
Yeah, I'm still not great at presentation. It's not that gravity turns the rocket, it's that you need to turn your rocket as gravity over time changes the direction of your momentum vector. That way you get most of your momentum turned into prograde.
So thrust/gravity/weight ?
I hope this actually works :)
Watch this lesson at 1.5 speed. Trust me.
I watch most of youtube at 2x speed :) it's the best way to watch most things.
@@ChrisKSP finally someone who’s like me
you lost all of your science in the capsule though
So true
Let me explain, Uuuuurm
I do say "um" a lot, um, don't I?
He then went on to explain it well though. A lot of these videos on Ksp dont explain much they just show cool rockets or are over technical.
Needs improving.
Fun times. :waves: at Hannah & Sam
But where is the calculation??? Formel??
Ooooooh! New content!

Yay! You’re back! #First
now that my dad's retired and playing again, i finally have a reason to post videos for our competitions

Are you Chris Hansen's brother
tyvm, I was looking for that mod and could not find it ^^
can you put the program in the discription, i wanna learn some basic KOS but i don't really understand the programming language. it's nowhere close to python ;(
All my code is up on my github: github.com/topherhansen/kos-funtimes/tree/master/playthrough/1.2 As I iterate on the code I save it to a new mission folder with the corresponding craft file. Check out the code docs here: ksp-kos.github.io/KOS/ for details on how the language works.
I finally figured out how to use my video software to normalize audio volume across tracks.
First video with my new pop filter.
The end flight report max g-force shows higher than I calculated because I calculated a full tank. The end flight report showed a higher g-force when the tank was <1% fuel but still pushing out thrust. Lower weight means higher TWR.
pop filter arrived today, next video shouldn't have so many plosives.
yo just turn the game volume off, good vid otherwise
Thanks for the feedback. Yeah in my new videos I'm learning to control the audio sources better. Also got a more professional mic setup (rode nt1-usb, and a pop filter arrives in 2 days).
yeah, just listened to the first 3 min again. This was before I got my video editing software as well so all I could do was record and upload. I'm much better equipped now between getting the video editing software and a much better mic setup.
Just recorded my next episode on Thrust Weight Ratios. Time for some post editing and then I'll upload it hopefully tonight.
Seems like I need to learn how to normalize the volume between tracks.
Yay! I made it to space. Now how do I orbit?
Working on next episode still. Will have it out soon :)
And published. Enjoy! th-cam.com/video/urhZWx-zDGc/w-d-xo.html
"Lock Wheelsteering to whatever." doesn't have good tunable parameters for it's PID so you get that wobble steering. But as long as you're using your own PID anyway to set the steering, you could try doing the steering in your own code with "set wheelsteer to mypid:update(....stuff...)." to handle the raw control directly over the "steering wheel". If there's a problem with the docs, then by all means make a github issue about it and we can look into it. It's quite hard to keep the docs accurate on a mod like this because they can't be just kept at a high level fuzzy description that stays true despite underlying changes. A lot of the internals have to be "exposed" which means small changes in the code have to come with documentation changes too. We try to keep that up to date with the rule "if you change the code, put the docs changes in the same PR", but it's easy for things to fall through the cracks.
Cool, I'll give that a try in the next day or two. I just got my ascend and circularize script "finished" last night and was thinking of putting that as my next broadcast, but maybe I'll do an update on the rover for my second one. I've been watching your videos lately and just watched your cool auto-land a jet video. Super cool stuff. New to Git, so I'll try to figure out how to make a update request on the docs.
Hi!
